:00:08. > :00:12.A couple from Canterbury who've fostered 150 children over 30 years

:00:13. > :00:15.are both set to receive MBEs in the New Years honours,

:00:16. > :00:17.joining a whole host of other volunteers,

:00:18. > :00:19.politicians and Olympic stars from across the South East

:00:20. > :00:26.When Rene and Ron Upton received letters saying they would

:00:27. > :00:30.be honoured for all their foster work they felt overwhelmed as they

:00:31. > :00:36.We have been in the right position at the right time and at the right

:00:37. > :00:40.age to be able to enjoy and assist children through their lives.

:00:41. > :00:43.It has worked out really well for us.

:00:44. > :00:51.Despite having five of their own children

:00:52. > :00:54.the couple decided there was a space missing at the dinner table.

:00:55. > :00:56.We had two children in placement and our

:00:57. > :01:00.own five children so that was seven and then they asked us to take

:01:01. > :01:03.a sibling group of four which we said yes.

:01:04. > :01:08.The youngest stayed for 18 years and the couple ended up

:01:09. > :01:14.Honours also went to Kent Olympic medallists.

:01:15. > :01:18.Members of the women's GB hockey team and Tom Ransley from the

:01:19. > :01:24.It was a letter in the post and it was a bit of a surprise really.

:01:25. > :01:28.Definitely didn't expect it, you expect the usual bills

:01:29. > :01:35.Canterbury MP Julian Brazier was knighted, as was Kent-born

:01:36. > :01:39.Oscar winner Mark Rylance, Sussex Police officer Louise Pye was

:01:40. > :01:43.given the Queen's Police Medal for her family liaison work and

:01:44. > :01:46.Paralympic champion Will Bayley receives an MBE.

:01:47. > :01:50.Since I was seven years I've played table tennis so it is a real

:01:51. > :01:53.honour and my family and really proud of me.

:01:54. > :01:56.Just last week Ron and Rene Upton finally retired.

:01:57. > :01:59.They are packing up all the children's bikes

:02:00. > :02:06.and are planning a motorbiking holiday, just the two of them.

:02:07. > :02:10.Kent police are investigating after two people were set upon

:02:11. > :02:13.South East Coast Ambulance Service say they're receiving so many 999

:02:14. > :02:15.calls they're struggling to reach patients in parts of Kent.

:02:16. > :02:18.Last year the Trust received an average of three calls a minute

:02:19. > :02:21.This year has already been one of the

:02:22. > :02:26.Kent police are investigating after two people were set upon

:02:27. > :02:28.by Staffordshire bull terriers in Folkestone after refusing

:02:29. > :02:32.The owners ordered the dogs to attack the first man

:02:33. > :02:34.on Dover Road around seven o'clock on Wednesday.

:02:35. > :02:39.The second was attacked on Stuart Road later that evening.

:02:40. > :02:42.She was a semi-finalist in the Great British Bake Off two years ago.

:02:43. > :02:44.And now Chetna Makan from Broadstairs has been crowned

:04:30. > :04:32.Day, it is generally dry at first but then a cold front sinking

:04:33. > :04:35.in from the north starts spreading rain by the end of the afternoon.

:04:36. > :04:39.Over higher ground it could be a little bit wintry as some cold air

:04:40. > :04:45.But much colder into Monday and Tuesday and we are talking about

:04:46. > :04:54.frosty stars but also plenty of sunshine.
