0:00:07 > 0:00:08Good evening.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11Residents in a Kent village say it's a miracle that no-one was killed

0:00:11 > 0:00:14or seriously injured in a crash today which brought down phone lines

0:00:14 > 0:00:15and blocked the streets.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18The incident involving a Land Rover and a lorry happened at around 8.30

0:00:18 > 0:00:19this morning in Horsmonden.

0:00:19 > 0:00:26Residents say it highlights the danger of the main crossroads.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29The scene that residents in this Kent village

0:00:29 > 0:00:30woke up to this morning.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Some said they heard a loud bang and came out of their homes to find

0:00:33 > 0:00:35what has been described as mayhem.

0:00:35 > 0:00:44I got up and had a look at what was going on,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47saw the telegraph pole was down and the phone box has gone,

0:00:48 > 0:00:49and the lorry in the garden.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51A police cordon was put in place to investigate what happened

0:00:51 > 0:00:54and the extent of the damage to an estate agents.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Telephone lines were down in the village.

0:00:56 > 0:00:57The cause of that clear to see.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59It's a scene of devastation.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Thank goodness, no-one has been seriously hurt.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04But the potential, there is always a threat for us here,

0:01:04 > 0:01:05we're very worried about it.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Something needs to be done, in my view.

0:01:07 > 0:01:11I think it's the feeling of the village.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14It's believed the Land Rover failed to stop at a junction,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17heading into the path of the lorry.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19Although it's unclear if speed was an issue,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21residents have long campaigned for better safety measures

0:01:21 > 0:01:22at the crossroads.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25One of those things that we expect to happen every so often,

0:01:25 > 0:01:26because this crossroads is so dangerous.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29People drive too quickly, for one thing, but they also ignore

0:01:29 > 0:01:33some of the road signs.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35It's thought both drivers suffered minor injuries.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Residents want to see changes to stop anything

0:01:37 > 0:01:43like this happening again.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Two women who lost their sisters to ovarian cancer -

0:01:45 > 0:01:48together with 40 supporters - have completed a 13-mile walk around

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Bewl Water today to raise awareness of the symptoms.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52Gill Campbell's twin sister Wendy, who lived in Cranbrook,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54put off going to the doctor after mistaking symptoms

0:01:55 > 0:01:56for minor conditions.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58When she DID go, her cancer was too advanced and she died

0:01:58 > 0:02:05just months later.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07It was horrible to see her suffering.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10I don't want other women to have to go through what Wendy went

0:02:10 > 0:02:13through, and I don't want families to have to see their loved

0:02:13 > 0:02:15ones suffer like we had to watch Wendy suffer.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18So it is to raise awareness and to raise funds for much-needed

0:02:18 > 0:02:22research into ovarian cancer.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Children as young as eight have been found to be sharing inappropriate

0:02:25 > 0:02:26photos of themselves on the internet, according

0:02:26 > 0:02:27to Sussex Police.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30The force is trying to encourage young people to resist sharing

0:02:30 > 0:02:31explicit selfies online.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33They've launched a campaign today to tackle the problem.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35As Charlotte Wright reports, the issue has even been

0:02:35 > 0:02:39tackled by popular soaps.

0:02:39 > 0:02:40You took that photo!

0:02:40 > 0:02:41You posed for it!

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Risky and reckless, a recent plotline in East Enders examines how

0:02:44 > 0:02:46taking a nude selfie can have devastating consequences.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48You sent it to Bex.

0:02:48 > 0:02:53You broke the law.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56Sussex Police say it is a hidden problem among young

0:02:56 > 0:02:57people in the county.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59The point of this campaign is to make them understand

0:02:59 > 0:03:01the consequences of sharing.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04I have this week spoken to a mum who was really concerned

0:03:04 > 0:03:06about her 11-year-old daughter at primary school, who had actually

0:03:06 > 0:03:09made a really big mistake and shared a nude selfie at school,

0:03:09 > 0:03:13and as a result was being bullied.

0:03:13 > 0:03:14And that can escalate.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16That can turn into any form of exploitation,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18particularly child sex exploitation, which is why this is such

0:03:18 > 0:03:21an important issue today.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24The police are trying to reach out to young people,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26using one of the very devices that they are warning them

0:03:26 > 0:03:27about, the mobile phones.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29They have made videos for social media sites

0:03:29 > 0:03:30like Snapchat and YouTube.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33The animations tell the story of a child becoming the victim

0:03:33 > 0:03:34of blackmail and exploitation.

0:03:34 > 0:03:40Police say they are based on real experiences.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43It's a good idea, because people might be looking at stuff they're

0:03:43 > 0:03:45not supposed to and might be chatting to people they

0:03:45 > 0:03:47are not supposed to.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Me and my wife have both spoken to her and her sister

0:03:50 > 0:03:52about putting stuff on, you know, inappropriate stuff.

0:03:52 > 0:03:53I think she's quite clued up, actually.

0:03:53 > 0:03:57The campaign will appear on social media throughout this month.

0:03:57 > 0:04:06Charlotte Wright, BBC South East Today, Hove.

0:04:06 > 0:04:07Now Elizabeth Rizzini has the weather forecast.

0:04:07 > 0:04:08Hello, good evening.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11It was a rather cloudy day today, but there were some spells

0:04:11 > 0:04:14of brightness and sunshine earlier, as spotted by our weather watchers.

0:04:14 > 0:04:15Tomorrow is looking quite similar.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18There will be some brighter spells through the afternoon in particular,

0:04:18 > 0:04:20but it's going to turn windy, particularly blustery, of course,

0:04:20 > 0:04:22near the south coast, with that westerly wind picking up.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24Still quite breezy overnight tonight.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27Lots of low cloud, a bit of hill fog over the Downs, maybe.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29A mild start, with double figures into tomorrow morning.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32So tomorrow, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a bit of drizzle

0:04:32 > 0:04:35just falling from the thickness of the cloud, but certainly,

0:04:35 > 0:04:38most of us seeing a dry day, and the cloud will thin and break

0:04:38 > 0:04:39to give us those brighter spells.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Just feeling quite windy.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43Top temperatures in the best of any brightness 14 or 15 Celsius.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46As we start the new working week, it's rather wet and grey.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48Some proper rain around on Monday, still windy.

0:04:48 > 0:04:55It will clear to leave us something brighter and cooler.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58That's all from us for now, we'll be back with the breakfast

0:04:58 > 0:04:59news tomorrow morning.

0:04:59 > 0:05:00Enjoy the rest of your evening.

0:05:00 > 0:05:04Goodbye.

0:05:14 > 0:05:14Hello,

0:05:14 > 0:05:14Hello, the

0:05:14 > 0:05:17Hello, the mild

0:05:17 > 0:05:17Hello, the mild areas

0:05:17 > 0:05:17Hello, the mild areas going

0:05:17 > 0:05:17Hello, the mild areas going to
