:00:00. > :00:00.Coming up tonight: tributes to the baby girl

:00:07. > :00:09.whose body was found near a footpath in Oxford -

:00:10. > :00:17.dozens pay their respects at her funeral

:00:18. > :00:23.For someone who has been on this earth for such a short time you have

:00:24. > :00:28.touched the minds and hearts of people across this communitx and the

:00:29. > :00:31.entire country. Everybody should have someone to say goodbye.

:00:32. > :00:33.We'll also have the latest on a major police investigation

:00:34. > :00:36.Nine men have been arrested in early morning raids in Oxford -

:00:37. > :00:40.over historical child sex abuse offences

:00:41. > :00:42.And later on: tracing the p`st with 2,000 fossils -

:00:43. > :00:45.the plumber from Dorset displaying his collection

:00:46. > :01:03.More than 100 people have paid their respects at the funeral

:01:04. > :01:06.of a baby girl, whose body was found near a footpath

:01:07. > :01:10.Despite numerous public appeals, the baby's mother

:01:11. > :01:17.The coroner ruled she was stillborn when she was discovered in February.

:01:18. > :01:20.Police named the girl Raihana and invited the public to attend

:01:21. > :01:29.They didn't know her or her mother, but people came from far and wide

:01:30. > :01:32.to share their compassion for a baby born sleeping and abandoned

:01:33. > :01:37.Even though we don't know who this little girl is,

:01:38. > :01:44.She is one of our own, one of our community

:01:45. > :01:49.and we stand here today as lembers of the community

:01:50. > :01:55.and we care that she has a dignified and loving funeral.

:01:56. > :02:00.Despite repeated appeals for her mother to come

:02:01. > :02:03.forward, police have not been able to trace her -

:02:04. > :02:05.so they named her child Raihana meaning "Heaven's flower".

:02:06. > :02:08.Over the last two weeks we've been inundated

:02:09. > :02:11.with messages of support sympathy but above all

:02:12. > :02:27.We just want to pay our respects. I feel really sorry for the b`by and

:02:28. > :02:33.the mother as well. My heart goes out to her. It's really hard. I d

:02:34. > :02:40.like to show our love and rdspect. To have nobody there when she is

:02:41. > :02:42.buried is just too much. Solebody has to be here to show our love and

:02:43. > :02:45.respect. Among the mourners -

:02:46. > :02:47.Suzi Horsley from Headington, and wants Raihana's mother

:02:48. > :02:50.to know she's not alone. I would hope that she knows

:02:51. > :02:52.that the public does not condemn her in any way

:02:53. > :02:55.because what she's been through is horrifying, she lust have

:02:56. > :02:57.been terribly terribly frightened and I hope that somewhere somebody

:02:58. > :03:00.knows and is looking after her. It was in February that a b`by's

:03:01. > :03:03.body was found by a member of the public wrapped in a black bag

:03:04. > :03:07.close to a footpath in Marston. Unharmed and still with her

:03:08. > :03:09.umbilical cord attached - a coroner later ruled

:03:10. > :03:12.she'd been stillborn. More than ?2000 has

:03:13. > :03:19.so far been raised in Raihana's a charity supporting

:03:20. > :03:31.bereaved families. It's very taboo and although

:03:32. > :03:36.awareness is being raised and people are starting to break the shlence it

:03:37. > :03:37.is incredibly isolating and it is so important for people to know there

:03:38. > :03:40.is support out there. Raihana had touched the hearts

:03:41. > :03:45.and minds of not just this community but across the entire country

:03:46. > :03:48.and he made her a promise to keep Next tonight - a doctor frol Oxford,

:03:49. > :03:57.who gave evidence for the ddfence is appealing

:03:58. > :04:02.against being struck off. Doctor Waney Squier,

:04:03. > :04:05.worked as a consultant neuro-pathologist at the

:04:06. > :04:08.John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Her lawyers told the High Court

:04:09. > :04:10.she'd not been dishonest The 67-year-old insists she disputes

:04:11. > :04:15.the mainstream view. The case is expected

:04:16. > :04:19.to last the week. Nine men have been arrested in early

:04:20. > :04:23.morning raids in Oxford on suspicion of historical

:04:24. > :04:25.child sex abuse offences. It's claimed the offences are linked

:04:26. > :04:31.to two teenage girls in Oxford They're appealing for

:04:32. > :04:36.what they think could be Peter Cooke was at the police

:04:37. > :04:43.briefing - early this morning. 5am at a police

:04:44. > :04:45.training warehouse in Oxfordshire. A pre-raid briefing to officers

:04:46. > :04:48.ahead of an operation tackling childsexual exploitation

:04:49. > :04:52.in Oxford. This is the first time the ledia

:04:53. > :04:55.has been given access to an operation

:04:56. > :04:59.targeting this sort of crimd. Operation Rolo, as it's called,

:05:00. > :05:01.is the largest of its kind ever

:05:02. > :05:04.undertaken by Thames Valley Police. More than 150 officers

:05:05. > :05:08.raiding 11 addresses across Oxford. This investigation involves alleged

:05:09. > :05:14.offences against two teenagd victims This morning,

:05:15. > :05:21.officers arrested nine men This is the fourth

:05:22. > :05:28.major operation of this kind carried out by the force

:05:29. > :05:32.in the last four years. Detectives also launched

:05:33. > :05:34.a witness appeal today, linked to one

:05:35. > :05:38.of the alleged victims. She was kidnapped

:05:39. > :05:41.by a group of Asian men in 2004 At the time, she was

:05:42. > :05:48.16 years old but was not sexually She was told that

:05:49. > :05:54.she was going to be sexually assaulted and she was

:05:55. > :05:57.driven to Cuttesloe Park, having been let out of the vehicle,

:05:58. > :06:00.she managed to escape from the men Eventually,

:06:01. > :06:08.convinced that they had gond, she started

:06:09. > :06:11.to walk back towards Oxford. The police are now trying

:06:12. > :06:13.to trace a passing motorist The lady was between 40 and 50,

:06:14. > :06:21.at that time, that was 12 ydars ago. Curly red or brown hair

:06:22. > :06:25.and she could have The force says it remains

:06:26. > :06:29.committed to supporting I'm aware that people

:06:30. > :06:35.may hear this and it may remind them of something

:06:36. > :06:38.that's happened to them which they If that's the case,

:06:39. > :06:43.I would encourage people to We will listen to you and

:06:44. > :06:48.we will support you. The men arrested today

:06:49. > :06:51.are being held and questiondd Brain tumours kill more children

:06:52. > :07:00.and adults aged under 40 than any other cancer,

:07:01. > :07:02.so why isn't more money being spent That's the question

:07:03. > :07:07.being posed by a charity in Milton Keynes which has started

:07:08. > :07:11.an awareness campaign. At the moment, just one per cent

:07:12. > :07:14.of cancer research funding Symptoms can range from blurriness

:07:15. > :07:18.to headaches and nausea. Mosirmi Bakshi has been

:07:19. > :07:21.to meet one family affected Two generations of one family

:07:22. > :07:29.grabbing some playtime before the children head off to nursery in

:07:30. > :07:33.Milton Keynes but there is someone Caroline's mother Virginia succumbed

:07:34. > :07:39.to a brain tumour at the agd of 56. A much loved mother of four,

:07:40. > :07:41.she died before her She was a trained archivist

:07:42. > :07:50.but she gave that up to have four daughters,

:07:51. > :07:52.she always wanted for daughters That's the saddest thing

:07:53. > :07:55.for me and my sisters. We all have children now and she's

:07:56. > :07:58.has never met any of them. We can't ask her for her advice

:07:59. > :08:01.and we can't come and ask to babysit the children,

:08:02. > :08:03.or any of those things. We know that all

:08:04. > :08:05.the grandchildren are missing out so much

:08:06. > :08:07.not having her there. Just 1% of national cancer research

:08:08. > :08:10.funding is spent on a number this Buckinghamshire

:08:11. > :08:14.charity wants to see changed. This pernicious disease

:08:15. > :08:16.is the biggest cancer killer of children and adults

:08:17. > :08:21.under the age of 40. It's been cruelly underfunddd.

:08:22. > :08:23.In fact, it's been acknowledged in a funding report that by the

:08:24. > :08:26.Petitions Committee that successive governments have failed

:08:27. > :08:27.brain tumour patients. Enough's enough we need

:08:28. > :08:30.parity of funding and we nedd And the work to drive up

:08:31. > :08:34.survival rates takes place Here, tumours are put

:08:35. > :08:38.in cell cultures and new drugs are tested on them to

:08:39. > :08:42.see whether the cells live or die. But the research is

:08:43. > :08:43.cripplingly expensive. With more funding we could lake

:08:44. > :08:47.quicker progress trying to find new therapies and bho

:08:48. > :08:50.markers and drive them into clinical trials for better

:08:51. > :08:52.treatment and diagnostics. Caroline's mother died

:08:53. > :08:54.almost a decade ago. In that time, treatments

:08:55. > :09:08.have barely changed. More money could mean more survivors

:09:09. > :09:10.and more families spending The shortlists for the Great British

:09:11. > :09:14.High Streets have been annotnced Chipping Norton has made it

:09:15. > :09:16.for the second year running - challenging Thame for the bdst

:09:17. > :09:20.small market town. Meanwhile, Banbury will contest

:09:21. > :09:23.the best town centre award. Judges are due to visit

:09:24. > :09:25.the nominated finalists, before the winners are

:09:26. > :09:38.announced in December. An Oxfordshire restaurant h`s been

:09:39. > :09:45.named the fourth best restatrant in the world by the trip advisor

:09:46. > :09:49.website as the best in Brit`in and the fourth best in the world.

:09:50. > :09:52.I'll be back with the headlhnes at 8 o'clock and another news

:09:53. > :09:56.Sally Taylor is next - with the rest of today's stories.

:09:57. > :10:25.of American Football glamour to Guilford

:10:26. > :10:30.Campaigners calling for improved funding for schools in West Sussex

:10:31. > :10:33.have handed in a petition to Downing Street. The head of every state

:10:34. > :10:38.school in the county has signed a letter to the Prime Minister Theresa

:10:39. > :10:42.May, asking for an extra ?20 million in emergency funding. They claim the

:10:43. > :10:43.authority has the worst funded in the country and without the extra

:10:44. > :10:46.money they will have to makd cuts. Schools in a part of Berkshhre

:10:47. > :10:49.are so desperate for teachers that they're appealing to parents to help

:10:50. > :10:52.plug gaps in the classroom. The Downland Teacher Alliance

:10:53. > :10:54.is looking for graduates who might It covers a series of primary

:10:55. > :10:59.and secondary schools near Newbury. But a rural location in an `rea

:11:00. > :11:12.of high housing costs means extra difficulties for the

:11:13. > :11:14.school when it comes When you put repeated

:11:15. > :11:23.adverts out for maths teachers and then look in the Times

:11:24. > :11:26.educational and you see the amount of maths jobs that are going,

:11:27. > :11:29.it makes you realise that actually, this isn't the route we need to go,

:11:30. > :11:33.we need to look differently and bit With the school's outstanding

:11:34. > :11:37.status from Ofsted, getting teachers to stay

:11:38. > :11:39.here once they've seen The difficulty's getting thdm

:11:40. > :11:43.through the gate in the One group who know the school

:11:44. > :11:47.already are its pupils' pardnts So a letter has gone home to see

:11:48. > :11:50.who might be interested in going back to school to retrain

:11:51. > :11:54.on the job as teachers. In today's year ten physics class,

:11:55. > :11:58.former NHS radiologist Nicola. They wanted to use the skills

:11:59. > :12:02.and the degree I already had worked so hard for many years ago, and I

:12:03. > :12:09.always fancied teaching, I think it's a fascinating profession,

:12:10. > :12:13.and from what I've seen so far, Our trainees do three

:12:14. > :12:20.days in school and a day training with us specifically,

:12:21. > :12:25.and then some days over the year with Oxford Brookes Univershty,

:12:26. > :12:30.who do the PGCE and the accreditation side of things

:12:31. > :12:33.while we do the actual practical Of course long-term success

:12:34. > :12:38.will rely on continuing From a department that even

:12:39. > :12:43.by Whitehall standards has It's the opposite of

:12:44. > :12:53.Nimby-ism; those who oppose In Surrey, a group of residdnts

:12:54. > :12:58.fed-up with a site that's bden derelict for more than a decade

:12:59. > :13:00.are backing a regeneration scheme. The Brightwells site in Farnham

:13:01. > :13:03.is home to the old Redgrave Theatre but redevelopment has consistently

:13:04. > :13:09.been met with opposition. Now those who are keen to sde

:13:10. > :13:22.the town move forward Sounds like you're very biased.

:13:23. > :13:27.There are two sides. Those who want to see this rather rundown corner of

:13:28. > :13:34.Bono and redeveloped feel that up till now their voices haven't been

:13:35. > :13:40.heard. -- fine. Somewhere for the kids to come in this area of town is

:13:41. > :13:44.just run and depressing. Whdn the bigger we will be to come hdre

:13:45. > :13:48.rather than drive to all thd shot, they can be here, down the road bit

:13:49. > :13:54.safer and closer. Plans for new shops, restaurants, cinema `re well

:13:55. > :13:57.advanced promised judicial review of the local council 's actions as to

:13:58. > :14:04.1600 people people signing one residents petition of support. We

:14:05. > :14:09.don't want any further delaxs. We have a derelict building in Farnham,

:14:10. > :14:12.we want to regenerate its and we want people to come here and enjoy

:14:13. > :14:18.it, and Brightwells is the way forward. Opponents say they are the

:14:19. > :14:23.stamping block. The only thhng that is standing in the way is that our

:14:24. > :14:29.council, Waverley, cannot obtain commercial funding and 14 ydars it

:14:30. > :14:35.has failed to do so. One of the reasons it has failed to do so is

:14:36. > :14:41.that shopping is changing, `nd there is a lot of shopping in this

:14:42. > :14:46.development, a lot of retail. Clicks are replacing bricks and people

:14:47. > :14:50.aren't doing so much shopping. The flexible solar to online brhckbats

:14:51. > :14:55.for the scheme's opponents. With any debate you have debate on both

:14:56. > :15:07.sides, particularly online where things become more vocal, pdrm may

:15:08. > :15:10.be offensive on both sides. One side thing both sides agree on is that

:15:11. > :15:20.Farnham is losing out. He might once have been forgiven for

:15:21. > :15:23.equating the myth of the grdy pound rather than a digital econoly but

:15:24. > :15:28.with 400 digital agencies in the town, the seaside report thd direct

:15:29. > :15:33.result is gaining a petition is a digital hub. Such is the spded of

:15:34. > :15:38.its growth that one in five of its posts is unveiled. We are looking at

:15:39. > :15:49.how the sector is planning to deploy its own future. The point is to do

:15:50. > :15:54.something, so whether it's building a website, or getting involved in

:15:55. > :15:58.charity work... Turning the tables on the employer. Leila is 16 and

:15:59. > :16:02.interviewing Arabella, the founder of a branding and web design agency.

:16:03. > :16:07.The chat will become a pod cast available to online. It might be

:16:08. > :16:13.better just to engage with ts as people because we are honest enough,

:16:14. > :16:16.we're bold enough, can give you the answers you need, and by engaging

:16:17. > :16:21.with the right people, you're more likely to be able to attract them to

:16:22. > :16:24.employment in the future. Bournemouth and Poole's Dightal

:16:25. > :16:28.economy has been run over stccess but sustaining that growth `nd

:16:29. > :16:32.filling empty positions has been a challenge. There is a big shortage

:16:33. > :16:39.of talent out there, the cldarly in digital roles, there is an `mazing

:16:40. > :16:43.amount of momentum and noisd happening about this area, we are

:16:44. > :16:51.all very excited about that, and one of the key challenges is to maintain

:16:52. > :16:59.that. The that 1000 14 to 18 year today work invited to see what the

:17:00. > :17:02.landscape offered them. The need for digital skills is increasing. I

:17:03. > :17:06.would be surprised there was in an organisation or agency that doesn't

:17:07. > :17:12.have vacancies. There are always jobs on offer. Industry leaders want

:17:13. > :17:15.to engage this generation now, the next wave of talent who

:17:16. > :17:20.instinctively understand technology better than anyone else. Wh`t

:17:21. > :17:25.they're looking for is much more to do with fitting in with the company

:17:26. > :17:27.culture then it is to do a particular convocations, although

:17:28. > :17:32.incredibly important to start off, to engage your passion with

:17:33. > :17:37.something. While salaries on the coast don't match London, nowhere

:17:38. > :17:41.has grown as rapidly as Dorset. The focus now is what can be done to

:17:42. > :17:45.keep this digital economy in the fast lane.

:17:46. > :17:59.Under the sport. Looking ahdad to the Thursday night match for Saints

:18:00. > :18:05.against Milan. Are you packdd? I'm worried about hammy blue shhrts to

:18:06. > :18:06.take! -- how many. The themd is just that they were the travel shtuation

:18:07. > :18:09.could be. Thousands of Southampton football

:18:10. > :18:12.fans are getting ready to fly off to Italy for Thursday night's

:18:13. > :18:15.Europa League match It should be fine getting to Milan -

:18:16. > :18:22.but getting home is probablx not Let's go to St Mary's staditm

:18:23. > :18:29.where Roger Finn has the story. Yes, nearly 7,000

:18:30. > :18:31.Saints fans are heading They reckon that's the biggdst

:18:32. > :18:38.exodus abroad in the club's history. But on Friday there's going to be

:18:39. > :18:41.a general transport strike by unions It's going to involve aviathon staff

:18:42. > :18:48.- and also members of railw`y And it's going to last all day

:18:49. > :19:06.exactly when many fans People are still going to go. I

:19:07. > :19:10.would say, go and enjoy yourself, there's not a lot you can do, you

:19:11. > :19:15.could only make plans on thd day comes. And really, there ard options

:19:16. > :19:20.you hope your airline can gdt you home, or in this day and agd,

:19:21. > :19:21.Switzerland, France, Austri`, where you can get flights from, aren't

:19:22. > :19:25.that far away. Today the Milan Tourist Board told

:19:26. > :19:29.us they didn't believe British Airways told us that they're

:19:30. > :19:32.liaising with the Italian authorities to monitor the situation

:19:33. > :19:36.but as of today they aim to operate Even so, some fans may well find

:19:37. > :19:41.they get stuck with an extr` Hopefully, an extra day to carry

:19:42. > :19:58.on the celebrations. Hopefully so! Hopefully we will be

:19:59. > :20:01.at the San Siro live tomorrow. A big night of the EFL action, a cracking

:20:02. > :20:19.game, Reading hosting Aston Villa. Every game live on BBC local radio.

:20:20. > :20:22.Over to American football, hce puts part in Guildford today hosted a

:20:23. > :20:27.special visit for players from the LA Rams. The training session for

:20:28. > :20:31.schools children was part of the attempt to bring through a new

:20:32. > :20:33.generation of fans to the Alerican game. And even if public appearance

:20:34. > :20:36.is a chance for a bit of a show They certainly made

:20:37. > :20:40.a racket for the Rams in Guildford today,

:20:41. > :20:41.and the players hadn't even

:20:42. > :20:43.arrived at this point. North American sports culture

:20:44. > :20:46.is about far more Los Angeles Rams are in the UK this

:20:47. > :20:50.week and they brought We are here to get

:20:51. > :20:54.the players excited, keep the energy up in the stadium and just

:20:55. > :20:57.really bring the excitement of the I'm a big Harry Potter fan

:20:58. > :21:01.so I feel like I'm in a movhe But yeag, it's a great city

:21:02. > :21:08.and the people here are amazing The Los Angeles Rams have cdrtainly

:21:09. > :21:11.put on a show for the This Sunday will be the 16th time

:21:12. > :21:16.that the NFL has staged a g`me The long-term plan could be

:21:17. > :21:20.to place a franchise of the The endgame for us is to increase
