:00:00. > :00:10.A man from Oxford says he and his partner are desperate

:00:11. > :00:14.after an explosion forced them out last month.

:00:15. > :00:17.It's still not known what caused the blast,

:00:18. > :00:19.which caused a three storey block of flats to collapse

:00:20. > :00:22.Ian Francis, who's partially sighted,

:00:23. > :00:24.says he feels let down by the housing group responsible

:00:25. > :00:27.for the flats and claims the repair work is taking too long.

:00:28. > :00:34.For Ian Francis, who's been blind since birth,

:00:35. > :00:38.since last month's explosion here in Osney Mead.

:00:39. > :00:41.Ian, take me back to last month when the explosion happened.

:00:42. > :00:47.What were you doing and where were you when you heard the news?

:00:48. > :00:51.I heard what I thought was a thunderclap over in Cowley

:00:52. > :00:56.and then the next thing I knew I was getting a telephone call off

:00:57. > :00:59.the Oxford Mail and they asked me if I knew anything about the explosion

:01:00. > :01:03.Obviously I had to say no, so we rushed straight down

:01:04. > :01:04.there and we weren't allowed anywhere near.

:01:05. > :01:08.The thought hit me, what if we had been in there at the time

:01:09. > :01:10.or just walking past when the explosion struck?

:01:11. > :01:11.Earlier this month, police confirmed one man,

:01:12. > :01:15.48-year-old Guido Schuette, died in the blast.

:01:16. > :01:19.You've been away from your home for three-and-a-half, four weeks now.

:01:20. > :01:22.You must be desperate to get back home.

:01:23. > :01:25.The people where we are, the other residents there,

:01:26. > :01:30.But the room that we are in is a small room

:01:31. > :01:35.I've not been able to take my assistance dog there.

:01:36. > :01:38.Trying to find our way round a new area with visual

:01:39. > :01:43.You were supposed to be back at home today but you're not there.

:01:44. > :01:51.Sammy and I returned there yesterday evening to get the flat ready

:01:52. > :01:54.to get rid of all the smelly food from the freezer.

:01:55. > :01:56.Whilst cleaning, I went outside to throw rubbish away

:01:57. > :02:00.and found outside my door there was water everywhere.

:02:01. > :02:05.The drainage wasn't working properly.

:02:06. > :02:07.Also two radiators in the bedroom and in the bathroom,

:02:08. > :02:10.they are not working any more plus there's flickering lights

:02:11. > :02:30.In a statement, A2 Dominion told us:

:02:31. > :02:31.You're saying there are still problems

:02:32. > :02:37.How long will it be then until you get back?

:02:38. > :02:40.How long do you think you will be able to wait for?

:02:41. > :02:43.I want to be back in within the next few days.

:02:44. > :02:45.Sammy and I are desperate to go home.

:02:46. > :02:51.We really want to go home, but with all these things coming up

:02:52. > :02:53.with A2 Dominion and the way that we've been treated

:02:54. > :02:57.by A2 Dominion, I'm losing all faith and respect for the housing

:02:58. > :02:59.association and the people who run it.

:03:00. > :03:04.Ian Francis talking to Adina Campbell.

:03:05. > :03:06.Nearly ?10,000 has been raised for the family

:03:07. > :03:09.of a Buckinghamshire man - who was killed in a car

:03:10. > :03:11.24-year-old Anthony Copperwheat died last Sunday.

:03:12. > :03:14.He was in the country as a seasonal worker.

:03:15. > :03:16.His employers have set up a charity webpage

:03:17. > :03:17.to raise funds to fly his body home.

:03:18. > :03:20.Two days of planned strikes across Oxford bus company routes

:03:21. > :03:22.later this month have been called off.

:03:23. > :03:23.Workers were unhappy about the pay they received

:03:24. > :03:27.This afternoon the Unite union and the bus company have released

:03:28. > :03:29.a joint statement saying they're working towards

:03:30. > :03:35.Police in South Oxfordshire are appealing for witnesses

:03:36. > :03:37.after 15 prize-winning chickens and cockerels were stolen

:03:38. > :03:44.were stolen from outbuildings overnight on Monday.

:03:45. > :03:51.Their owner fears they've been taken for cock fighting.

:03:52. > :03:53.A company developing driverless cars in Oxfordshire says it's already

:03:54. > :03:56.bidding for a share of ?270 million promised by the Chancellor

:03:57. > :04:02.Philip Hammond said he was setting the money aside

:04:03. > :04:03.for different technologies, including autonomous vehicles.

:04:04. > :04:04.Our political reporter Bethan Phillips

:04:05. > :04:10.has been to Culham to find out more.

:04:11. > :04:15.It sounds like something from Tomorrow's World.

:04:16. > :04:20.Letting go of the wheel and letting a computer do the driving.

:04:21. > :04:23.But the future's not as far away as we might think, according

:04:24. > :04:26.to experts in Oxfordshire, and it could help solve some

:04:27. > :04:30.If we can centrally control where the autonomous cars are driving,

:04:31. > :04:32.maybe we can have different cars take different routes

:04:33. > :04:35.and reduce congestion, though if the cars can communicate

:04:36. > :04:38.with each other then perhaps we can have them travelling more closely

:04:39. > :04:41.together on the motorways, maybe even at higher speeds.

:04:42. > :04:44.So because the cars can all communicate with each other,

:04:45. > :04:48.it's much safer and we can look much further ahead than we could do

:04:49. > :04:52.So what is it actually like travelling in a driverless car?

:04:53. > :05:01.So it's essentially answering three questions of where am I?

:05:02. > :05:09.Like a GPS can say I know where I am.

:05:10. > :05:11.For what's around us, we have the laser sensors

:05:12. > :05:17.What to do next is inside the computer.

:05:18. > :05:23.The government is sending clear signals it believes

:05:24. > :05:27.It's now hoped that some of the ?270 million announced

:05:28. > :05:30.in this week's Budget for new technology will find

:05:31. > :05:34.So we're already applying for some of that grant funding.

:05:35. > :05:38.It's very important for a small company like us to get these sorts

:05:39. > :05:40.of grants because it really helps us grow.

:05:41. > :05:42.It helps us to take more risks on projects.

:05:43. > :05:46.And when it comes to trying out driverless cars,

:05:47. > :05:49.Culham Science Centre is the perfect place.

:05:50. > :05:52.It's got a network of roads but is also a fairly

:05:53. > :05:55.There are plans for it to become a major testing site,

:05:56. > :06:01.putting Oxfordshire at the forefront of this technology.

:06:02. > :06:04.Well, it's been great because we've seen the evolution.

:06:05. > :06:07.We started off some time ago with cars just going around closed

:06:08. > :06:09.car parks and just trying to get from A to B.

:06:10. > :06:12.And then we've extended onto the roads and we've used

:06:13. > :06:15.an increasing amount of our road network with roundabouts,

:06:16. > :06:18.crossroads and we've seen the technology evolve.

:06:19. > :06:21.The Oxford-based company behind this car are hoping to triple

:06:22. > :06:27.And with the knowledge and expertise that Oxfordshire has,

:06:28. > :06:29.it's expected the county will remain in the driving seat

:06:30. > :06:33.when it comes to getting this technology out on our roads.

:06:34. > :06:41.Alexis is next with the weekend weather forecast.

:06:42. > :06:48.A murky night to come, and maybe some mist and fog patches

:06:49. > :06:50.in places, and a good deal of cloud, as well.

:06:51. > :06:52.But it will be mild, with temperatures dropping

:06:53. > :07:00.Quite a murky start of the day tomorrow,

:07:01. > :07:03.with hilltop mist and fog first thing, but through the course

:07:04. > :07:06.of the morning we are hopeful that we will see some dry air

:07:07. > :07:08.pushing the cloud away and allowing for some sunshine.

:07:09. > :07:13.And through the course of the day, temperatures will do very nicely

:07:14. > :07:15.with slightly more cloud for northern areas

:07:16. > :07:25.Sunday, we'll have rain at times during the course of the day

:07:26. > :07:41.Monday should be mainly dry with sunny spells.

:07:42. > :07:46.Where the sunshine broke through to the North of Cornwall temperatures

:07:47. > :07:50.rose to 17 degrees under the blue skies. For many of us the cloud

:07:51. > :07:55.didn't break up through the day, keeping temperatures pegged at

:07:56. > :07:59.around about 13 degrees. That was the high today in the London region.

:08:00. > :08:04.Mild over night with the blanket of cloud around. Most places dry. Rain

:08:05. > :08:06.will work into parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland through the

:08:07. > :08:07.early hours
