:01:03. > :01:08.This is a new initiative that we have between the libraries

:01:09. > :01:11.and the mental health trust to support people with

:01:12. > :01:16.The Trust says it's introducing a number of new services,

:01:17. > :01:20.including thousands more short-term care packages, so patients can leave

:01:21. > :01:25.hospital and get care back home - double the number of outpatient

:01:26. > :01:32.appointments and a new frailty assessment service to help cut down

:01:33. > :01:38.Campaigners have been protesting over what could be

:01:39. > :01:45.There are currently eight hospital beds in Thame and 12 in Marlow.

:01:46. > :01:48.Some people are worried these changes could lead a reduction

:01:49. > :01:52.of beds in the future, putting patients at risk.

:01:53. > :01:55.It concerns me hugely that this pilot is being run

:01:56. > :01:59.in spring and summer, it's not going to be run

:02:00. > :02:02.during autumn and winter which is when the massive

:02:03. > :02:08.I don't believe they're telling the truth.

:02:09. > :02:11.I believe this is a fait accompli without any sort

:02:12. > :02:23.It is about using the space and the beds flexibly

:02:24. > :02:28.You have announced a number of measures, one of them

:02:29. > :02:36.The community hubs concept is using the space we have

:02:37. > :02:38.and the beds we have in a different way.

:02:39. > :02:42.We will be able to provide rehabilitation physiotherapy

:02:43. > :02:46.services on a day basis, perhaps giving fluids or intravenous

:02:47. > :02:51.antibiotics into a vein from those very beds.

:02:52. > :02:55.These changes are part of a six month pilot.

:02:56. > :02:58.They'll be monitored and, if they work well, they could be

:02:59. > :03:05.rolled out to other parts of the county.

:03:06. > :03:07.The joint Thames Valley and Hampshire roads policing unit

:03:08. > :03:10.is dealing with more incidents than when it was formed -

:03:11. > :03:16.even though the number of officers was cut by 20%.

:03:17. > :03:18.Between 2013 and 2014, the unit attended more

:03:19. > :03:22.Two years later, that figure had risen to nearly 49,000.

:03:32. > :03:35.More than 50 posts were lost when they joined forces in 2012

:03:44. > :03:54.The motorway through to junction turn, the A329,

:03:55. > :04:04.through to the Hampshire border, it is a huge area

:04:05. > :04:11.Traffic officers also deal with regular emergency calls,

:04:12. > :04:15.as well as responding to accidents and reckless drivers.

:04:16. > :04:17.The Roads Policing Unit is one of a number of

:04:18. > :04:21.But officers say they're worried about how efficient

:04:22. > :04:26.There is a real deep sense of frustration that they are not

:04:27. > :04:29.able to give the service that they want to the public.

:04:30. > :04:32.They are being spread ever so thinly, just like every

:04:33. > :04:34.other police officer, probably across the UK

:04:35. > :04:40.This is a direct consequence to the cuts that we face.

:04:41. > :04:42.Both forces say they're focused on making sure

:04:43. > :04:45.they have the resources and specialist capabilities

:04:46. > :04:49.in the right locations at peak times to meet demand.

:04:50. > :04:52.But with further cuts feared and more motorists on our roads,

:04:53. > :04:58.the units are likely to remain stretched.

:04:59. > :05:01.Plans to add more restaurants and a hotel at the Milton Interchange

:05:02. > :05:04.near Didcot have been approved by councillors at the Vale

:05:05. > :05:11.The proposals are for a site behind the existing facilities,

:05:12. > :05:14.off the A34 including two new restaurants and two

:05:15. > :05:17.The developers say the impact on traffic will be minimal.

:05:18. > :05:20.It is so busy, this'll just add to it.

:05:21. > :05:25.Unless they turn it into a motorway, the A34 is already tremendously busy

:05:26. > :05:33.At 5pm, you wouldn't want to be here.

:05:34. > :05:36.Armed Forces veterans can now access to a new NHS mental health service

:05:37. > :05:39.tailored specifically to their needs.

:05:40. > :05:42.Nine million pounds will be spent over the next three years,

:05:43. > :05:44.offering treatment and support for conditions like

:05:51. > :05:53.Matt Stoodley now runs his own business repairing horse boxes.

:05:54. > :05:56.But for decades he struggled in silence with the psychological

:05:57. > :06:00.after-effects of serving as an engineer in the Royal Navy

:06:01. > :06:05.Since leaving the service in the mid-1980s, he'd

:06:06. > :06:10.been quick to anger, and prone to severe mood swings.

:06:11. > :06:14.Both he and the people he was closest to were suffering.

:06:15. > :06:16.It's been known under various different names.

:06:17. > :06:19.Iraq syndrome, it's now called post-traumatic stress disorder.

:06:20. > :06:21.Obviously, what went on down in the Falklands

:06:22. > :06:27.longer I was away from that situation, the more it built up.

:06:28. > :06:30.Matt lost a number of friends and comrades during the Falklands

:06:31. > :06:35.conflict, and his own ship, HMS Glasgow, was

:06:36. > :06:44.Just three years ago, he finally sought help

:06:45. > :06:46.from the South Central Veterans Service, and with counselling

:06:47. > :06:48.from experts trained to deal with military

:06:49. > :06:52.been able to face up to and accept the trauma he'd suffered.

:06:53. > :06:56.The support Matt and many others received has now been refined

:06:57. > :07:02.and rebranded as the NHS Transition, Intervention and Liaison service.

:07:03. > :07:04.This expanded service is open to people before

:07:05. > :07:08.The biggest step is to actually go forward

:07:09. > :07:15.Nobody can push you forward to doing it.

:07:16. > :07:20.Ex-Forces personnel can be referred by their GP,

:07:21. > :07:24.by charities like Help For Heroes, or can simply contact

:07:25. > :07:32.A huge burial site dating back to Saxon times

:07:33. > :07:35.is to be excavated in Stoke Mandeville on the

:07:36. > :07:40.It's thought that 5000 bodies are buried by the old St Mary's Church.

:07:41. > :07:43.Archaeologists say it's one of the most important sites

:07:44. > :07:50.Names that tell the story of a village.

:07:51. > :07:55.The burial site in Stoke Mandeville dates back to Saxon times.

:07:56. > :07:58.The remains of thousands of people will soon be exhumed

:07:59. > :08:05.This site is an absolutely amazing Archaeological site.

:08:06. > :08:16.and it is pretty much one of the most important sites that

:08:17. > :08:18.will be dug in the last 50 years, archaeologically.

:08:19. > :08:21.The excavation is to make way for the hugely controversial HS2

:08:22. > :08:23.line, which will pass through parts of Buckinghamshire and

:08:24. > :08:28.Oxfordshire, on its way from London to Birmingham.

:08:29. > :08:32.HS2 Limited says the route has been carefully planned but local people

:08:33. > :08:36.When we first heard what was happening,

:08:37. > :08:42.We have protested, petitioned and done everything we could.

:08:43. > :08:46.But we realise we have to accept that HS2 is going to happen and that

:08:47. > :08:53.It's possible some existing families in the village could find out more

:08:54. > :09:00.Unfortunately, HS2 is going to make it absolutely

:09:01. > :09:07.And therefore it is going to provide unique information

:09:08. > :09:11.for the archaeological community about English village life

:09:12. > :09:16.Last night, residents met HS2 representatives

:09:17. > :09:27.The dig is due to start later this year and finished in 2019.

:09:28. > :09:30.A type of shrimp been named after Pink Floyd -

:09:31. > :09:32.because the scientist in Oxford who discovered it is

:09:33. > :09:37.Now called Synalpheus pinkfloydi, it snaps its enlarged pink claw

:09:38. > :09:41.at rapid speed to create one of the loudest sounds in the ocean.

:09:42. > :09:44.The noise is so intense it can kill small fish.
