:00:05. > :00:09.I'm Sally Taylor. Welcome to South Today. In tonight's programme:

:00:09. > :00:18.Pay up Pompey - another winding up threat if the club doesn't pay its

:00:18. > :00:24.taxes. For the fans it is disappointing because we are loyal.

:00:24. > :00:27.It's a shame we do not have the money to buy the club.

:00:27. > :00:29.The cost to the taxpayer - should councillors be entitled to public

:00:29. > :00:37.sector pensions? Changing landscape - the row over

:00:37. > :00:42.five acres of proposed polytunnels to grow soft fruit. In our opinion,

:00:42. > :00:50.it is not a farm, it is an industrial plant. It is three

:00:50. > :00:59.metres high. And the moment Dark Side Of The

:00:59. > :01:02.Moon came out into the light 40 years ago in Brighton.

:01:02. > :01:07.Pompey fans are facing yet more uncertainty over the clubs future

:01:07. > :01:10.as the tax man seeks to recover more than 1 million. It's now just

:01:10. > :01:13.a matter of weeks for the club's management to find a solution after

:01:13. > :01:19.It's been issued with a winding up petition by HM Revenue and Customs

:01:19. > :01:22.for missing two tax payments totalling 1.6 million. The news

:01:22. > :01:25.comes after Italian businessman Joseph Cala pulled out of a deal to

:01:25. > :01:32.buy the club on Friday, and just weeks after Pompey's parent company

:01:32. > :01:35.CSI went into administration. It's almost two years since Portsmouth

:01:35. > :01:43.became the first Premier League club to enter administration, and

:01:43. > :01:51.what now for the clubs future? Roisin Gauson is live there tonight.

:01:51. > :01:55.Roisin, it feels like we've been here before?

:01:55. > :02:03.Yes. It is an all-too-familiar situation, both in terms of the

:02:03. > :02:09.timing and the characters involved. The man at the centre of this lent

:02:09. > :02:14.the club 2 million in 2009, but as security, he took out a charge on

:02:14. > :02:24.the stadium. Now the payments are not been met and there has been no

:02:24. > :02:25.

:02:25. > :02:33.joy it finding a new man -- newts joy -- no joy in finding a new

:02:33. > :02:39.manager. As the bills pile up, players may have to be sold.

:02:39. > :02:49.need players to win games, to get a fountain, to make money to pay the

:02:49. > :02:52.

:02:52. > :03:02.bills. We need a good own or otherwise the club will go bust.

:03:02. > :03:07.

:03:07. > :03:11.is a pity that the people coming to buyers cannot get it in gear.

:03:11. > :03:21.administrator said that he hoped to find a new owner within a week, but

:03:21. > :03:22.

:03:22. > :03:32.as time ticks on, no further announcement had been made. At the

:03:32. > :03:33.

:03:33. > :03:36.moment, there are still people owed significance sums of money. So if

:03:36. > :03:40.someone is going to buy the club, they will look at what they are

:03:40. > :03:46.getting for their money and if someone is asking for too much,

:03:46. > :03:53.they will not get it. Fans want a greater say in the running of the

:03:53. > :03:58.club. A website has been set up to look at all options. No-one wants a

:03:58. > :04:02.football club to disappear or to be liquidated, but just in case we had

:04:02. > :04:07.put together a plan that involves creating a new football club which

:04:07. > :04:11.will hopefully be at Fratton Park. If not, we will look at other sites

:04:11. > :04:15.around the area. After a difficult two months, nothing looks certain

:04:15. > :04:20.for the club which is to without an owner and facing critical cash flow

:04:20. > :04:26.problems. The club would not put anyone up

:04:26. > :04:29.for administration, but said it felt let down. It said there were

:04:29. > :04:35.given assurances that whilst the search for a new owner was carried

:04:35. > :04:40.out, the short term financial obligations would be met. Clearly

:04:40. > :04:44.that has not happened. If you want more in-depth analysis,

:04:44. > :04:46.you can find more information online.

:04:46. > :04:49.A woman has been arrested on suspicion of evading over 1

:04:49. > :04:51.million in tobacco duty after several major seizures at

:04:51. > :04:53.Southampton Container Port. HM Revenue and Customs uncovered two

:04:53. > :04:58.cargo loads in Southampton and a further load in Felixstowe

:04:58. > :05:03.totalling 6.5 tonnes. They were marked as Chinese Herbs. It's

:05:03. > :05:05.estimated the total haul could have made over 12 million cigarettes.

:05:05. > :05:08.The pressure group the Taxpayers Alliance has criticised Dorset

:05:08. > :05:13.County Council for allowing some of its councillors to join its pension

:05:13. > :05:17.scheme along with staff employed by the county. The group argues that

:05:17. > :05:26.councillors shouldn't benefit in that way. But the council says the

:05:26. > :05:29.amount of money involved is minimal and entirely justified.

:05:29. > :05:34.Where ever you are, the pressures of the economic landscape are never

:05:34. > :05:38.far away just now and today, Conservative controlled also became

:05:38. > :05:46.the focus of an attack for allowing some members to join its pension

:05:46. > :05:49.scheme. We need to ask questions about why so many councillors are

:05:49. > :05:56.enrolling in the local government pension scheme. In a year it

:05:57. > :06:06.increased by 1,000. That's 1,000 more people that taxpayers have to

:06:06. > :06:12.deal with. Those eligible to join, among some of the council leader,

:06:12. > :06:17.have considerable responsibilities. It is a non-starter really when

:06:17. > :06:26.they talk about volunteers and elected members been pensioners. It

:06:26. > :06:31.is a minuscule amount of money being spent on it. On Dorset County

:06:31. > :06:36.Council 14 councillors are members of the scheme. The council's

:06:36. > :06:41.contribution to the whole of the staff pension scheme, not including

:06:41. > :06:49.staff in schools and the fire service is 72.5 million. That

:06:49. > :06:58.works out at 179 per head of population. Across the county

:06:58. > :07:02.because a public services is highly controversial. The question over

:07:02. > :07:11.whether councillors should receive a public pension has added to the

:07:11. > :07:15.debate. But in the present financial climate even a relatively

:07:15. > :07:18.modest sums are being called into question.

:07:18. > :07:27.Earlier, I spoke to pensions expert Dani Cox about why so many

:07:27. > :07:32.councillors are joining the public sector scheme. I think they are in

:07:32. > :07:36.rolling into the scheme because it is a good scheme. It is a final

:07:37. > :07:40.salary scheme, so it is not based on Investment Market or interest

:07:40. > :07:45.rates and so it is a good scheme for people to be able to join. As

:07:45. > :07:49.with any employee or anyone who has the chance to join a company

:07:49. > :07:54.pension scheme, they should do so at the earliest opportunity. With

:07:54. > :08:03.so many councillors coming forward and wanting to n'roll, it will mean

:08:03. > :08:08.be part ball diminished rapidly. Absolutely. The cost will go up.

:08:08. > :08:14.There is a one trillion pound deficit in public sector pensions.

:08:14. > :08:18.If more people join, the deficit increases. It is important that the

:08:18. > :08:27.people who have the right to join do so. How expensive it is it for

:08:27. > :08:30.the government? It is difficult to say. And normal member of a local

:08:30. > :08:36.government scheme will be plain about 5% of their income and the

:08:36. > :08:41.authority about 25 % into the scheme. This is a voluntary role,

:08:41. > :08:47.so with the councillors it is difficult to know at what level

:08:47. > :08:52.their reference salary will be. It will be 25 % of something. How do

:08:52. > :08:57.public sector pensions compared with the private sector? It is like

:08:57. > :09:05.chalk and cheese. The cost of private sector pensions has

:09:05. > :09:10.increased by 20 % this year alone. They are susceptible to problems

:09:10. > :09:13.and the stock market and reductions in interest rate. Public sector

:09:13. > :09:19.schemes, despite the changes they might be over the next few years,

:09:19. > :09:21.they are still good pension schemes. Thank you.

:09:22. > :09:24.A court's heard from the first witness today as the prosecution

:09:24. > :09:26.continues to outline why it thinks Harry Rednapp had an offshore

:09:27. > :09:30.account. It's claimed the former Portsmouth Chairman Milan Mandaric

:09:30. > :09:32.paid so called "bungs" into a Monaco account in the name of Mr

:09:32. > :09:35.Rednapp's dog. Mr Redknapp and his co-defendant Milan Mandaric both

:09:35. > :09:39.deny charges of cheating the public revenue. Our sports correspondent

:09:39. > :09:46.James Pearce was at Southwark Crown Court.

:09:46. > :09:54.The court has been hearing tape conversations between Harry

:09:54. > :10:00.Redknapp and a former reporter. The reporter had been tipped off and

:10:00. > :10:07.the conversation contained some colourful language. At one point

:10:07. > :10:15.the reporter said, I wish I could leave 100,000 a line around. Harry

:10:15. > :10:21.Redknapp said, or what I can. Later in the conversation he said the

:10:21. > :10:25.Inland Revenue were aware of the money. If it was something dodgy,

:10:25. > :10:34.up I would have gone over there, got the money and bought it back in

:10:34. > :10:44.a briefcase. The presentation -- the prosecution also asked a number

:10:44. > :10:55.

:10:55. > :11:02.of questions today. One of those were did it not cross Mr Redknapp's

:11:02. > :11:07.mind to it mention this to his accountant? The case resumes

:11:07. > :11:13.tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. Still to come - the Olympic legacy

:11:13. > :11:16.helping youngsters to get back on target in sport.

:11:16. > :11:20.Police in Southsea say they are worried for the safety of a one-

:11:20. > :11:25.year-old boy after he disappeared with his mother. Coreene Hamilton

:11:25. > :11:27.and her son Phoenix were last seen 24 hours ago. The police say

:11:27. > :11:30.Coreene's circumstances mean they want to find her urgently and say

:11:30. > :11:34.any member of the public with information should call the police

:11:34. > :11:37.immediately. Around 30 firefighters have been

:11:37. > :11:39.tackling a blaze at an industrial dry cleaning business in

:11:39. > :11:44.Basingstoke. Emergency services wearing specialist chemical suits

:11:44. > :11:48.were called to the West Ham industrial estate this morning. An

:11:48. > :11:56.investigation is underway into how the fire started. There are no

:11:56. > :11:58.reports of any injuries. A greengrocer in Hove is warning

:11:58. > :12:03.other small businesses to be cautious of the online discount

:12:03. > :12:06.site Groupon after using it lost him thousands of pounds. Daniel

:12:06. > :12:16.Harris wanted to sell discount veg boxes in the Brighton area, but was

:12:16. > :12:16.

:12:16. > :12:21.swamped with orders and could not keep up with demand.

:12:21. > :12:31.Daniel Harris is moving to cheaper premises to save his business. He

:12:31. > :12:35.said his mistake was using Groupon, a discount website. Daniel agreed

:12:35. > :12:45.to sell his vegetables through the site with a 60 % website. He wanted

:12:45. > :12:47.

:12:47. > :12:57.new customers, but 800 orders flooded in. He could not cope with

:12:57. > :12:59.

:12:59. > :13:05.them. We have lost a few 1,000 pounds. I could not cope. Daniel's

:13:05. > :13:11.is not the only person to regret signing up. This company lost money

:13:11. > :13:16.because they have too high in extra staff. Where small businesses have

:13:16. > :13:20.not considered how much of a product they can make or send out,

:13:20. > :13:27.or where they have not considered a number of people from Groupon are

:13:27. > :13:35.going to phone them up and that is what has the adverse effect on the

:13:35. > :13:41.business. Groupon take a cut of the sales. The advertising agency

:13:41. > :13:51.ombudsman has raised concern. There is a risk that some businesses

:13:51. > :13:54.

:13:54. > :14:01.offering deals will fail. We are running at risk, but if I look at

:14:01. > :14:06.the partner based we have, the majority of the partners are happy.

:14:06. > :14:10.Daniel wants to warn others that Groupon's success can be bad news

:14:10. > :14:12.for small businesses. Commuters using a bus from

:14:12. > :14:14.Winchester to Southampton can now access the internet whilst

:14:14. > :14:19.travelling. Over the next few months Bluestar is offering free

:14:19. > :14:22.Wi-Fi to passengers on the number one bus at 7.30 in the morning.

:14:23. > :14:27.After the trial the company will decide whether to offer free Wi-Fi

:14:27. > :14:29.on other buses. Protestors say proposals to put

:14:29. > :14:35.polytunnels on five acres of Berkshire farmland at Finchampstead

:14:35. > :14:39.will wreck the landscape. The company behind the plans EU Plants

:14:39. > :14:44.Ltd says the tunnels are essential and won't harm the area, which is

:14:44. > :14:47.of special landscape importance. Long term, the aim is to grow six

:14:47. > :14:57.million soft fruit plants on the site to meet what the owners say is

:14:57. > :14:58.

:14:58. > :15:08.a huge demand. And the lorries that get in and out,

:15:08. > :15:09.

:15:09. > :15:16.it is ridiculous. It was hardly a meeting of minds. The owner turned

:15:16. > :15:20.up unexpectedly as protesters rallied against having a poly

:15:20. > :15:28.tunnels on landscaped land. For years, this farm has been used for

:15:28. > :15:38.grazing and to grow crops, but the new owner has a new approach to

:15:38. > :15:43.

:15:43. > :15:53.farming. These poly tunnels grow fruit in strict rotational

:15:53. > :15:56.

:15:56. > :16:04.conditions. People do not have a clue what is about to appear.

:16:04. > :16:09.onus soap the poly tunnels will cover a small fraction of the farm.

:16:09. > :16:19.The time was right for us to by Our Own piece of land and we hope we

:16:19. > :16:22.

:16:22. > :16:26.can make our home here and develop the farm. There has been an

:16:27. > :16:36.increased demand for fruit, but the local MP doesn't believe the poly

:16:37. > :16:40.

:16:40. > :16:46.tunnels should be on the property. I am here to support the local

:16:46. > :16:49.people. The public consultation ends later this week.

:16:49. > :16:52.Archaeologists have revealed that a mass grave found in Dorset belongs

:16:52. > :16:55.to a group of Viking mercenaries. The burial site at Ridgeway Hill

:16:55. > :16:58.was discovered by a workman in 2009 preparing for the Weymouth Relief

:16:58. > :17:00.Road. Carbon dating revealed that the 54 bodies were from the 11th

:17:00. > :17:10.century and tests on their teeth showed they had come from

:17:10. > :17:14.

:17:14. > :17:24.Scandinavia. A fascinating story. Over to sport now. Shall we talk

:17:24. > :17:32.

:17:32. > :17:34.about social media to stop we? Yes. It has got a few people in two

:17:34. > :17:37.hot-water though. Southampton winger Jason Puncheon

:17:37. > :17:40.finds himself back in favour at St Mary's after settling his

:17:40. > :17:47.differences with chairman Nicola Cortese. Let's have a look at what

:17:47. > :17:50.Puncheon had to say on Twitter on Saturday night. He vowed to sit out

:17:50. > :17:53.the remaining 18 months of his contract, while training with the

:17:53. > :17:55.youth team and then leave on a free transfer. Today though, an about-

:17:56. > :17:58.turn, expressing his delight that any disagreements had been sorted

:17:59. > :18:02.and vowing to help Saints reach the Premier League. "Come on you

:18:02. > :18:05.Saints" he adds. With Nigel Adkins' squad currently

:18:05. > :18:08.suffering a number of injuries, we could soon be seeing Puncheon

:18:08. > :18:10.reproduce goals like this - his last for the club nearly two years

:18:10. > :18:11.ago. Meanwhile Southampton have today

:18:11. > :18:20.rubber-stamped the signing of Japanese international striker

:18:20. > :18:22.Tadanari Lee. He's available for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Millwall.

:18:22. > :18:25.Surrey fast bowler Chris Tremlett has been no stranger to injury

:18:25. > :18:28.problems, and he's now been forced home from England's test series

:18:28. > :18:31.against Pakistan in Dubai. Tremlett suffered a recurrence of a back

:18:31. > :18:34.injury that recently kept him out for five months. His place for the

:18:34. > :18:37.Second Test went to Sussex's Monty Panesar and the spinner took the

:18:37. > :18:41.early wicket of Mohammed Hafeez as Pakistan reached 256 for 7 in their

:18:42. > :18:47.first innings. Panesar was back in the England side, having being left

:18:47. > :18:49.out of the previous 29 matches. In rugby union, London Irish have

:18:49. > :18:52.handed new contracts to two of their rising England stars. 19-

:18:52. > :18:55.year-old winger Marland Yard and flanker David Sisi, who's 18, have

:18:55. > :19:00.signed deals which will keep them with the Exiles for the next two

:19:00. > :19:03.years. At the heart of this summer's

:19:03. > :19:06.Olympics has always been a pledge to leave a lasting sporting legacy.

:19:06. > :19:09.Critics say it will be a tough challenge to meet, but children in

:19:09. > :19:14.Portsmouth have today been benefiting from a scheme to inspire

:19:14. > :19:24.young people. It's called Street Games and Rachael Canter went along

:19:24. > :19:25.

:19:25. > :19:28.to find out more. Getting youngsters on target through sport.

:19:28. > :19:38.This project in Portsmouth work with young people from deprived

:19:38. > :19:44.areas. Young people like this boy. I didn't really have anywhere else

:19:44. > :19:52.to go or anything to do. I did not want to sit in on get into trouble

:19:52. > :19:57.and commit crime. Here, they sorted me out. The programme here uses

:19:57. > :20:02.sport to break down barriers. Today is a disability awareness session.

:20:02. > :20:05.It has been inspired by a Paralympic hopeful. Anything that

:20:05. > :20:09.encourages people to take part in sport and have a healthier

:20:09. > :20:14.lifestyle is a good thing. London won the Olympic bid the goal

:20:14. > :20:20.was to get one million more people involved in sport, but seven years

:20:20. > :20:28.later figures show only around 110,000 have taken up a new sport.

:20:28. > :20:38.That is why the gains's organisers are keen to give a seal of approval

:20:38. > :20:47.to projects like this. People have come to was saying, I am interested

:20:47. > :20:51.in getting involved. Hopefully there were well-spread and it would

:20:51. > :20:56.get better. The dream may be to reach the Olympics, but for these

:20:56. > :21:00.children taking part is just as important.

:21:00. > :21:02.A table tennis player from the South has become one of the first

:21:02. > :21:05.athletes to be selected for this summer's Paralympic Games in London.

:21:05. > :21:09.Seen in the blue shirt, Will Bayley competed at the Beijing Paralympics

:21:09. > :21:12.in 2008 and is currently the world number one in his class. He's one

:21:12. > :21:14.of ten players named by Team GB today. The 24-year-old from Poole

:21:14. > :21:20.has a rare congenital disorder called Arthrograposis, which

:21:20. > :21:23.affects all four of his limbs. Thousands of extra spectators will

:21:23. > :21:27.be able to watch the Olympic cycling race in an area of

:21:27. > :21:30.sensitive countryside in Surrey. Box Hill has been touted as the

:21:30. > :21:34."best vantage point" for the road race, and organisers now anticipate

:21:34. > :21:44.a capacity of 15,000. Concerns had previously been raised about the

:21:44. > :21:44.

:21:44. > :21:48.impact of crowds on the hill. That should be a pretty spectacular

:21:48. > :21:54.sight. I went up there the other day, but

:21:54. > :21:57.not on a bike. I drove. It is a beautiful place.

:21:57. > :22:04.It went on to become one of the most successful albums ever made,

:22:04. > :22:07.but it was only played to a small number of fans at the Brighton Dome.

:22:07. > :22:12.40 years ago, Pink Floyd launched their songs that went on to be

:22:12. > :22:15.released as The Dark Side Of The Moon. Since then it's sold 50

:22:15. > :22:18.million copies, making it the 6th best-selling album of all time in

:22:18. > :22:28.the UK. And it was huge in the States, too, remaining in the US

:22:28. > :22:33.

:22:33. > :22:37.Billboard album chart for an astonishing 741 weeks.

:22:37. > :22:47.Even the band members knew the Dark Side Of The Moon was something

:22:47. > :22:59.

:22:59. > :23:09.special. The I knew something Now Pink Floyd have returned to

:23:09. > :23:20.

:23:20. > :23:25.Brighton where they it debuted the Alban material. -- album material.
