:02:03. > :02:09.enthusiastic, cheerful, very dependable. A real sweetheart. I

:02:18. > :02:24.that struck a glider before plummeting into fields near
:02:24. > :02:29.Abingdon, killing the 15-year-old and Flight Lieutenant Mike Blee. Mr

:10:22. > :10:25.your phone, internet, seeing what you have been up to, it is that,
:10:25. > :10:31.that is where it starts and then, if you are aware of that, you can

:10:49. > :10:54.years ago, who can I go to, who can I get help from, it will be worth
:10:54. > :11:04.it. After the success in Dorset, the hope is to pred the workshop

:12:06. > :12:09.at London 2012? Basingstoke has received a new kidney from his best

:12:13. > :12:18.hour operation the first of its kind in the south was koor rid out
:12:18. > :12:24.at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. Rob Baldwin and Dan Flack
:12:24. > :12:30.are both now recovering well. About 2 600 kidney transplants take place
:12:30. > :12:34.every year in the UK, but there are 6 800 people on the waiting list,
:12:34. > :12:38.and about 300 people a year die while waiting for a transplant. The
:12:38. > :12:45.procedure could give new hope to people waiting for surgery. Here is
:12:45. > :12:49.our health correspondent. Rob Baldwin is a lucky man. Just three
:12:49. > :12:54.days after a kidney transplant, his blood was back to normal, and he
:12:54. > :12:58.was on the road to recovery. the doctors have said is you have
:12:58. > :13:01.had a speedy recovery and they are impressed with what I have done and
:13:01. > :13:06.how it's happen and u how quick I am back on my feet. The operation,
:13:06. > :13:10.the first of its kind in the south, was remarkable because the donor
:13:10. > :13:13.had a different blood group. Normally the antibodies in Rob's
:13:13. > :13:20.blood would have rejected the kidney but special drugs were used
:13:20. > :13:26.to wash them out of his system. the day, when the blood group
:13:26. > :13:30.antibodies are very low, we transplant the organ, and we
:13:30. > :13:34.monitor after the operation. The antibody levels will slowly come
:13:34. > :13:38.back to normal over a period of weeks, but by that time the organ
:13:38. > :13:43.would have been accepted and a certain amount of accommodation in
:13:43. > :13:51.the patient happens, so it doesn't reject any more. What was also
:13:51. > :13:56.remarkable was the donor is Rob's best friend Dan. There are no words
:13:56. > :14:02.that can describe what he has done for me. When he said I'll do it I
:14:02. > :14:07.thought thank God. Rob and Dan have known each other all their lives.
:14:08. > :14:12.We have grown up together. We went to the same school, his mum and my
:14:12. > :14:18.mum were best friends so it was inevitable we would be best friends.
:14:18. > :14:23.Giving up a kidney is a big thing to do, even for a best friend.
:14:23. > :14:26.was a big decision but not a hard one. It was a no-brainer. As soon
:14:26. > :14:31.as we heard this could be done, then, there was no doubt in my head
:14:31. > :14:35.I was going to do it. None at all. Dan's going to be best man at Rob's
:14:35. > :14:41.wedding, and they are both looking forward to getting on with their
:14:41. > :14:46.lives. The wedding is coming up and then the baby, lots to look forward
:14:46. > :14:49.to. This year will be a good year. And I am delighted to say both Rob
:14:49. > :14:54.and Dan are here with me. It is good to see you both. How you
:14:54. > :15:00.feeling. How are you Rob? Much better, yeah. Over the moon. I am
:15:00. > :15:04.still here. That is good. What about you. I'm fine. Don't feel any
:15:05. > :15:12.different. What was life like for you Rob, beforehand? How often did
:15:12. > :15:18.you have dialysis? Three times a week, four hours a day, laying in a
:15:19. > :15:21.chair, then back home. So it wasn't any other life for you. No, the day
:15:21. > :15:26.after the transplant, dialysis sorry, I would be at home, and I
:15:26. > :15:30.would be so tired because overnight, obviously my blood would get dirty
:15:30. > :15:34.again and I would be tired the following day. So life was grim.
:15:34. > :15:41.Yes. You, watched your friend going through this, because you were best
:15:41. > :15:49.mate, what was it like to watch? wasn't nice, to see the change, all
:15:49. > :15:54.the Rob we know and love happy, joy, to change into someone who was
:15:54. > :15:59.tired, mood swing, it wasn't nice. You step forward to find out if you
:15:59. > :16:04.were compatible. Did you ever, you know, do you think for one moment
:16:04. > :16:08.there was any doubt in your bout about doing it? None whatsoever, as
:16:08. > :16:13.soon as we found out it was the best news we could have. I bet you
:16:13. > :16:18.were over the moon with it. Yes, I didn't expect him to do it but I
:16:18. > :16:22.knew, sort of, in all my heart of hearts he would step up eventually,
:16:22. > :16:28.and give me his kidney. I know you are best friends, does it give you
:16:28. > :16:35.a more special bond, a closer bond? Definitely, yes. Much closer.
:16:35. > :16:40.owe him don't you. I do. Do you see it like that? Only, he can pay me
:16:40. > :16:45.back in a few beers now and again. Other than that, it was always
:16:45. > :16:50.going to happen. If I could do it it was perfect. You will be best
:16:50. > :16:55.man and you are getting married next May. I want to show people the
:16:55. > :17:00.ring what is the significance. That is important isn't it. My dad was
:17:00. > :17:06.given that ring by my mum the first time I had my first transplant,
:17:06. > :17:11.which was back in 1993, when I was eight. And they fought long and
:17:11. > :17:16.hard what tho give Dan as a present. So dad said why don't you pass it
:17:16. > :17:21.on to Dan. Get it engraved. means something special.
:17:21. > :17:25.massively I am so pleased it has worked out. The first of its kind
:17:25. > :17:32.in the south. Let us hope there will be many more of these. I hope
:17:32. > :17:36.so. Nice to meet you. Good luck with the wedding. I expect the stag
:17:36. > :17:41.do will be good. Residents in a block of flat say after years of
:17:41. > :17:44.complaining the homes are in a crumbling dangerous state. People
:17:44. > :17:49.living at North Farm Court say cracks in the wall are so large the
:17:49. > :17:54.windows move. The council says repair work won't start until late
:17:54. > :17:58.summer. There is about, I don't know, two or three millimetre
:17:58. > :18:02.difference between here and here. Rebecca has tried to plaster over
:18:02. > :18:06.the cracks in her four-year-old's bedroom but they come back. She has
:18:06. > :18:10.put seal last night round the frame but daylight shines through. She
:18:10. > :18:14.says she has told the council, but they haven't fixed the problem.
:18:14. > :18:18.this is the quality of dwelling that they see we are worth, that
:18:18. > :18:22.doesn't say much for us, really. It is upsetting, because that is how
:18:22. > :18:27.we are made to feel. You know, most people should feel safe in their
:18:27. > :18:34.homes, but, we don't. Certainly not when the wind gets up, because this
:18:34. > :18:37.is so exposed here. But no, I mean I just think if anything happens we
:18:38. > :18:42.are all together. It is a similar story in other flats. Most are
:18:42. > :18:46.owned by the council but David bought him his. He thinks the
:18:46. > :18:50.window will fall out and has put bars in place to keep his son safe.
:18:51. > :18:56.I have been on at them. I am a lease holder. I want to sell the
:18:56. > :19:01.place and I can't sell. The three flats that I looked round all had
:19:01. > :19:05.large cracks, the council accepts that there is a problem, and says
:19:05. > :19:10.building work won't start until late summer as they have to hold a
:19:10. > :19:16.consultation first. They do believe that the building is safe. It is so
:19:16. > :19:20.loose and such big gaps, that is near enough falling out.
:19:20. > :19:23.residents disagree. If it carries on, they will have people needing
:19:23. > :19:27.homes because they will have to move usous. It will be so dangerous
:19:27. > :19:31.they will have to move us out. We have a wide variety of people
:19:31. > :19:36.living in here and it is unsafe for some of us to carry on living here.
:19:36. > :19:42.They want the Cowen stoil take a second look. -- they want the
:19:42. > :19:48.council to take a second look. Tony is with me. We could be in a
:19:48. > :19:53.situation where we could, I say could lose ta football manager. We
:19:53. > :20:00.could. Wolves, Premier League side sacked Mick McCarthy. They are
:20:00. > :20:04.looking for a manager, Gus Poyet and Brian mechanic der met being
:20:04. > :20:08.heavily linked. If we look at the options. Gus Poyet, BBC understands
:20:08. > :20:15.they may well have been priced out of a move for Gus Poyet. Because he
:20:15. > :20:19.is in the early stages of his contract. Therefore, that man there,
:20:19. > :20:23.Brian McDermott has shot to almost the top of the wanted list for
:20:23. > :20:26.Wolves. Now it is thought he is probably had talks with Wolves, we
:20:26. > :20:31.don't know what stage they are at. I think it is hoped he will stay.
:20:31. > :20:37.It is a big challenge. The new owner, they will want him to stay.
:20:38. > :20:42.This could be a case of Brian McDermott. But he may be saying
:20:42. > :20:47.show me how much you want me to stay. Brian is second favourite for
:20:47. > :20:51.the job. Steve Bruce still in there in the running. We will keep you up
