:01:10. > :01:12.more than �24,000. Dan Penteado, who pursued suspected conmen on the
:01:12. > :01:14.television show Rogue Traders, admitted eight offences of
:01:14. > :01:18.dishonestly or knowingly claiming the benefits over four years, while
:01:18. > :01:27.not declaring that he earned thousands from the BBC. Briony
:01:27. > :01:32.Leyland was in court. Dan Penteado found fame on camera
:01:32. > :01:36.on the BBC chasing down bogus workmen on his motorbike. Today as
:01:36. > :01:42.he arrived to be sentenced for benefit fraud he was shy of this
:01:42. > :01:46.camp -- cameras. He had admitted eight offences of dishonesty and
:01:46. > :01:52.knowingly claiming council tax and housing benefit amounting to
:01:52. > :01:58.�24,000. He failed to declare one of his bank accounts and earnings
:01:58. > :02:03.of �56,000 per. When the fences began he was a full-time student
:02:03. > :02:07.with two young children and the family were struggling. When the
:02:07. > :02:11.BBC offered him work was in the form of short-term contracts. He
:02:11. > :02:15.was unwilling to interrupt the flow of housing benefit. His defence
:02:15. > :02:19.said his judgment had been very poor. Sentencing him to 12 weeks
:02:19. > :02:23.the chairman of the magistrates' bench told him it was not a
:02:23. > :02:26.victimless crime, he had stolen from the public purse in a
:02:26. > :02:30.calculated way. The fraud came to light after a bomb a council
:02:30. > :02:34.employee saw him featured in the local paper for his television work
:02:34. > :02:40.and remembered somebody of that name was claiming benefit. The
:02:40. > :02:44.council say high and low profile cases will be investigated. We paid
:02:44. > :02:47.�90 million pay-day in housing benefit in Bournemouth. That is for
:02:47. > :02:51.the honourable people who cannot afford to pay their rent. If people
:02:52. > :02:58.are working and earning money they should pay their own rent. We have
:02:58. > :03:01.a duty to make sure the money goes to the right people. The court was
:03:01. > :03:05.told Dan Penteado has begun paying the money back but is sinking in
:03:05. > :03:14.debt. A BBC spokesperson said in light of the prosecution he will
:03:14. > :03:18.Pressure on primary school places in Winchester has led to Hampshire
:03:18. > :03:21.County Council to approve plans for a new school today. Some other
:03:21. > :03:25.schools in the city will still have to have extra temporary classrooms.
:03:25. > :03:28.The authority thinks the rise in pupils is down to a rise in the
:03:28. > :03:38.birth rate and more people choosing to live in the area. Our political
:03:38. > :03:38.
:03:38. > :03:42.editor Peter Henley reports. It is a welcome from age to age 60.
:03:42. > :03:45.Alongside the nursery in you primary-school the first Super
:03:46. > :03:52.school in Hampshire -- a new primary school. They are coping
:03:52. > :03:57.with the be used baby boom in the country. -- biggest baby boom. Next

:04:00. > :04:05.lunch at La space and will new classrooms are ready. To get a new
:04:05. > :04:08.school, in the provision always has to be better than adding on

:04:12. > :04:15.schools by adding things on and put the pressure on them. Winchester
:04:15. > :04:19.has seen at young families moving from London but in Berkshire at one
:04:19. > :04:25.of as well they have been so have the highest numbers of birds for 30
:04:25. > :04:29.years. Even building a new school will not be enough. Education
:04:29. > :04:34.chiefs heard every primary school in Winchester is going to need to
:04:34. > :04:37.take you pupils and not just because of the rising birth rate.
:04:37. > :04:41.The council are being very naive. They have taken the birthrate and
:04:41. > :04:45.describe that as the growth rates. We believe that is not the case
:04:45. > :04:50.because the number of houses built and the ways in which families are,
:04:50. > :04:54.life was good in 2007, everybody was having babies thinking the
:04:54. > :04:59.world was booming. Not enough has been taken into account with the
:04:59. > :05:01.economic factors. As the Baby boomer Bwlch works through the
:05:01. > :05:08.system councillors have to plan for an increase in secondary school
:05:08. > :05:12.places. With the expansion of primary age children to three
:05:12. > :05:15.secondary schools will take less from outlying areas so therefore
:05:15. > :05:19.they have probably the capacity. The knock on from that could cause
:05:20. > :05:25.other problems. The only certainty, that any forecast will have to
:05:25. > :05:28.change. Peter Henley joins me now. Census
:05:29. > :05:34.results yesterday showed the south east population has grown by 7% in
:05:34. > :05:38.a decade. This is only part of the picture though, what are the other
:05:38. > :05:41.factors affecting school places? It really isn't as simple as
:05:41. > :05:45.reading the censors and five years later that is the number of school
:05:45. > :05:48.places you need. People move in and out of the private system, they
:05:48. > :05:52.move to places like Winchester for work. That is the fundamental
:05:52. > :05:55.problem planners have. If you build not just schools but houses and
:05:55. > :05:59.rates and all the facilities people need, and they are good schools,
:05:59. > :06:02.people will move to that area. The last government was in favour of
:06:02. > :06:06.rebalancing the economy so they refurbished schools in the Midlands
:06:06. > :06:10.and the North. They still want to rebalance the economy with this new
:06:10. > :06:13.coalition government but they have got this free schools' policy which
:06:13. > :06:18.is now so let -- much less planned attack should cancel bidding
:06:18. > :06:22.central government on warning that although they spent �10 million in
:06:22. > :06:28.Winchester overall in Hampshire they are looking for �200 million
:06:28. > :06:31.in future. Security firm G4S said only around
:06:32. > :06:34.39 staff of the 70 it needed at the Olympic cycling venue at Box Hill
:06:35. > :06:37.in Surrey turned up for work yesterday. The news came as the
:06:37. > :06:44.company's chief executive appeared before a committee of MPs over the
:06:44. > :06:47.failure to find enough staff for the Games. Surrey Police said today
:06:47. > :06:49.that the shortage of G4S staff would not mean the force would
:06:49. > :06:58.provide extra officers. Our Home Affairs correspondent Alex Forsyth
:06:58. > :07:03.has more. Work is well under way to prefer -- prepared the cycling side
:07:03. > :07:08.for 15,000 spectators. Staff from G4S were due to be here to keep the
:07:08. > :07:12.side secured but yesterday one out of three failed to show up and

:22:42. > :22:47.over my body armour and rifle and get straight onto the plane. 10
:22:47. > :22:52.minutes later the plane was taking off. Both were in helicopter and
:22:52. > :22:55.three flights later he was back in the UK. -- one helicopter. There
:22:55. > :22:59.was a car waiting on the runway and that drove me straight to the
:22:59. > :23:03.hospital. Pretty flash to bang the whole way through, to about 14
:23:03. > :23:08.hours from leading here to walking through the hospital doors. What
:23:08. > :23:14.did Karen say when she saw you? was quite happy. It was nice being
:23:14. > :23:18.home for her. His pregnant wife had only visited the hospital for a
:23:18. > :23:23.tour, but certainly had labour pains. Doctors had to deliver the
:23:23. > :23:28.baby nine weeks prematurely, Simon only just made it. It was just
:23:28. > :23:34.amazing they got him home in time. I am very grateful. And floods of
:23:34. > :23:40.tears the whole time. So many photos we have taken of Simon
:23:40. > :23:42.holding him so he had that time with him. It was a real, it you had
:23:42. > :23:47.believing Afghan and being home in such a short space of time, then
:23:47. > :23:53.all of us up and it being me and my wife, and then me and my wife and
:23:53. > :23:58.the baby. Their first child, he weighed just over �3. He is feeding
:23:58. > :24:01.nicely, beginning to gain weight and ready to join mum at home.
:24:01. > :24:04.Celebrating his 30th birthday this week Simon is back on the front
:24:04. > :24:09.line but wanted to send Karen the message. I am incredibly proud of
:24:09. > :24:13.my wife for how well she has been doing, and incredibly proud of the
:24:13. > :24:23.little one for how well he has been fighting. We are proud of what he
:24:23. > :24:24.
