:01:12. > :01:15.early hours of Sunday morning when the car mounted the pavement.
:01:16. > :01:20.14`year`old Jasmine died at the scene. 16`year`old Olivia died later
:01:21. > :01:29.in hospital. Sean Killick has been following the story. He's in Gosport

:01:36. > :01:44.The death of two team the `` two teenage girls in such a way has left
:01:45. > :01:51.everybody shock. Tonight the mother of the girls has said that the two

:01:58. > :02:03.and 40 Jasmine Allsop, best friend who died together in horrific

:02:15. > :02:19.died later in hospital. Today the route has reopened and scores of
:02:20. > :02:23.floral tributes were left by friends, including one teenager he
:02:24. > :02:33.had been a lifelong friend of Olivia. She had lots of friends, she
:02:34. > :02:41.will be greatly missed. She got on with your work. Everyone has been
:02:42. > :02:49.putting messages on Facebook to say they miss. The family have delivered
:02:50. > :02:53.this with the rest of their lives. Jasmine'smother said that after the
:02:54. > :02:59.accident, she went to her daughter in the room, kissed, told her she
:03:00. > :03:06.was her angel. Her father said that they have run out of words of
:03:07. > :03:10.comfort to say. The headteacher of their school said they were both
:03:11. > :03:13.independent, strong minded individuals who live their lives to
:03:14. > :03:17.the full with confidence and a sense of humour, a sense of fun. We will
:03:18. > :03:24.miss them both immensely and a unique talents. Olivia had began
:03:25. > :03:31.studying at Saint Vincent 's College in Gosport. The principal said that
:03:32. > :03:36.they were all shocked. Some students were particularly close to her, she
:03:37. > :03:40.was very local to the college. We will be offering counselling and
:03:41. > :03:44.working with the police. We know that a 20`year`old man has
:03:45. > :03:49.been arrested. What is the latest in the investigation? At 20`year`old
:03:50. > :03:54.man from Gosport is being questioned at a Hampshire police station on
:03:55. > :04:01.suspicion of murder. The police have made this fresh appeal. There has
:04:02. > :04:08.been speculation on Facebook about the events leading up to that time
:04:09. > :04:11.on Sunday morning. We want to know what happened. We are interested in
:04:12. > :04:17.getting that information while we have a suspect in custody. We want
:04:18. > :04:20.the public to tell us about it. Tonight the pleas have been granted
:04:21. > :04:24.further time to question the man they arrested. They now have until
:04:25. > :04:28.tomorrow evening. A man has been jailed for five years
:04:29. > :04:30.for the manslaughter of another man in Berkshire. 42`year`old Simon
:04:31. > :04:33.Velvick, from Newbury, pleaded guilty to the unlawful death of Mark
:04:34. > :04:37.Campbell. He'd argued with Mr Campbell at a house party in the
:04:38. > :04:40.town in June this year, before punching him. Paramedics found Mr
:04:41. > :04:46.Campbell at a house in The Nightingales. He died of a brain
:04:47. > :04:49.haemorrhage. A coroner has criticised the parents
:04:50. > :04:53.of a seven`year`old boy who died from a severe head injury in
:04:54. > :04:57.Southampton. Blake Fowler was seven. His stepfather, an amateur boxer,
:04:58. > :04:59.had a long and alarming history of violent behaviour and had been
:05:00. > :05:04.investigated by police and social services. The coroner said Peter
:05:05. > :05:07.Meek and Blake's mother, Sarah Spacanya, had fallen woefully short
:05:08. > :05:13.as parents. Tom Hepworth was in court. What were the events leading
:05:14. > :05:17.up to this little boy's death? This is the first four inquests into the
:05:18. > :05:21.unconnected deaths of four children in Southampton in recent years,
:05:22. > :05:25.which will be heard this week. Blake was being looked after by Peter Meek
:05:26. > :05:28.at his grandparents' house back in early December 2011. In police
:05:29. > :05:31.interviews, Peter Meek said he was preparing lunch while Blake was
:05:32. > :05:35.play`fighting next door. He told detectives he heard a loud bang and
:05:36. > :05:40.Blake came into the room crying and upset saying he'd been hit and fell
:05:41. > :05:44.off the sofa banging his head. He then said he felt dizzy, began to
:05:45. > :05:49.wobble and lost conciousness. He was taken to hospital, but died the next
:05:50. > :05:53.day. Pathologist Dr Basil Purdue said he suffered a serious brain
:05:54. > :05:58.injury but there was no evidence it was the result of a blow rather than
:05:59. > :06:01.a fall. He also said there were flakes of white paint or Aertex in
:06:02. > :06:06.Blake's hair, but couldn't say how they got there. How well`known were
:06:07. > :06:10.the family to social services and police? It wasn't the first time
:06:11. > :06:13.they had come into contact with them. At the time, Peter Meek was on
:06:14. > :06:15.bail for assaulting Sarah Spacagna. They had also investigated two
:06:16. > :06:18.previous suspicious incidents involving Blake, one three years
:06:19. > :06:22.previously where he suffered crush injuries to his genitals and another
:06:23. > :06:28.when he was scalded when he was one`year`old. No further action was
:06:29. > :06:31.taken in the incident in 2008 and the court was told there was an
:06:32. > :06:37.unclear outcome in the earlier incident. I asked the council
:06:38. > :06:41.whether Blake was on the at risk register when he died. They said
:06:42. > :06:46.they weren't able to tell me because it could influence an independent
:06:47. > :06:49.serious case review into his death. In recording an open verdict, the
:06:50. > :06:53.coroner said the case had uncovered a plethora of lies and that Sarah
:06:54. > :06:56.Spacagna and Peter Meek were guilty of an appalling and disgraceful
:06:57. > :07:03.failure to prioritise the needs of Blake and it was difficult to know
:07:04. > :07:07.exactly how he died. An investigation is continuing into
:07:08. > :07:11.how a woman died after being trapped in a cave by rising sea water on the
:07:12. > :07:14.Dorset coast on Saturday. People walking along cliffs above the Tilly
:07:15. > :07:17.Whim Caves near Swanage raised the alarm after spotting a man in the
:07:18. > :07:21.sea. Rescue teams managed to save him, but his sister couldn't be
:07:22. > :07:24.reached. It's understood they had been coasteering, an adventure sport
:07:25. > :07:27.which involves climbing along cliffs and diving into the sea when they
:07:28. > :07:36.become too steep to negotiate. Jo Kent reports.
:07:37. > :07:45.In dual force winds and high seas, the coastguard this man from the
:07:46. > :07:49.water. On the cliffs above, a number of people watched. It soon became
:07:50. > :07:53.apparent was some of the Elton difficulty. The gentleman I did see
:07:54. > :08:01.was indicating towards the coastline. He was indicating that
:08:02. > :08:07.there was somebody else under where we were standing in the caves. We
:08:08. > :08:15.saw the guy could find to the next level and talk to someone through
:08:16. > :08:19.the cave. This footage shows just how rough the sea was. It was
:08:20. > :08:24.impossible for lifeboats to reach the cave. The only other way in was
:08:25. > :08:28.through a very narrow hole at the top. At the time a cliff rescue
:08:29. > :08:39.specialist was lowered in, the women had died. Conditions today could not
:08:40. > :08:42.have been more different. I could see instantly the weather was so bad
:08:43. > :08:48.that the lifeboat was struggling. With the wind coming in, it was a
:08:49. > :08:54.very challenging operating environment. Specialist teams are
:08:55. > :08:58.working to recover the body of the woman. It is known that the pair
:08:59. > :09:06.were a brother and sister from London, taking part in coasteering.
:09:07. > :09:13.The brother and sister were on their own, not doing it as part of the
:09:14. > :09:18.grid. Coasteering is growing in popularity in the area. Risk
:09:19. > :09:25.assessments are strict and safety is a top priority. We always do with
:09:26. > :09:30.the minimum of two guides, carrying lots of safety equipment. Even when
:09:31. > :09:38.the tie into the sea itself, if we are not happy with the conditions,
:09:39. > :09:45.we will call it off. Agencies are working together to decide when to
:09:46. > :09:48.make another attempt to reclaim the lady'sbody.
:09:49. > :09:51.They have already been introduced in cities like Portsmouth, Oxford and
:09:52. > :09:53.Chichester. Today, Winchester begins consulting on proposed 20mph speed
:09:54. > :09:57.limits. Exhibitions outlining the affected areas will run for two
:09:58. > :10:00.weeks in venues across the city. The city council says a limit would
:10:01. > :10:11.improve traffic flow and safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
:10:12. > :10:16.Still to come in this evening's South Today: Just keep your eye on
:10:17. > :10:26.the ball ` the wind is up and the Saints' goalkeeper is left
:10:27. > :10:29.red`faced. It is expected that the cost of building the Royal Navy's
:10:30. > :10:31.latest aircraft carriers will increase to ?6.2 billion.
:10:32. > :10:34.When the contract was first announced six years ago, the
:10:35. > :10:38.projected cost was around half that figure at ?3.5 billion. The defence
:10:39. > :10:41.project is one of the biggest ever undertaken in the UK and has been
:10:42. > :10:44.beset by construction and design delays. Both carriers are to be
:10:45. > :10:54.partially built in Portsmouth and it will be a decade before they come
:10:55. > :10:58.into service. The Medmerry coastal defence scheme,
:10:59. > :11:01.near Selsey in West Sussex, has been opened officially today.
:11:02. > :11:04.The sea has been allowed to flood a large area that had been protected
:11:05. > :11:07.by a shingle bank for hundreds of years. Back in September, the
:11:08. > :11:09.Environment Agency breached the shingle bank to create the largest
:11:10. > :11:13.coastal realignment in modern British history. The sea is now held
:11:14. > :11:17.back by a new bank inland. The flooded land will become salt marsh
:11:18. > :11:24.and is being managed by the RSPB as a nature reserve.
:11:25. > :11:29.Imagine being given just six weeks' notice that you were being evicted
:11:30. > :11:32.from your home. That's what happened to the residents of the Wiltshire
:11:33. > :11:36.village of Imber back in 1943. They were removed from their homes so the
:11:37. > :11:39.village could be used for training troops and never allowed to live
:11:40. > :11:42.there again. So, when the remaining former residents and their families
:11:43. > :11:50.went back on the 70th anniversary of that departure it was a bitter`sweet
:11:51. > :11:55.return. Laura Lyon reports. Saint Giles Church in the village of
:11:56. > :12:01.Imber looks and sounds like any other, except it doesn't have any
:12:02. > :12:05.parishioners. These sisters can only ten to their parents grave when the
:12:06. > :12:11.villages opened up to the public by the Ministry of Defence. Mums
:12:12. > :12:16.favourite colour was red. We always try to put red around. At the
:12:17. > :12:20.beginning of November 1943 residents received letters from the War office
:12:21. > :12:25.telling them to leave their homes within six weeks. In the middle of
:12:26. > :12:30.Salisbury plain, the village was ideal for American troops to train.
:12:31. > :12:39.The sister still remember the impact of those letters arriving. I can
:12:40. > :12:49.remember my mum being really upset. She just sat there and cried stop
:12:50. > :12:54.this family still enjoys making the annual pilgrimage. When we used a
:12:55. > :12:58.comeback in the first few years, you did meet up with people that you
:12:59. > :13:05.could remember. The years have gone by, and you don't see anyone about.
:13:06. > :13:08.There are not many left. The families were rehoused across a wide
:13:09. > :13:14.area. Generations later younger relatives make the trip to explore
:13:15. > :13:23.their ancestors homes. We came to see our cousins. And to know more
:13:24. > :13:28.about her family. The church is one of the only buildings left in its
:13:29. > :13:37.original form. Others remain out of bounds, still used for military
:13:38. > :13:43.training. On Friday.
:13:44. > :13:49.Now on Friday you may remember we asked you to help us find a woman
:13:50. > :13:53.from the Isle of Wight. She'd left a touching note on the grave of her
:13:54. > :13:56.grandfather, who died in the first World War. Well, we've found her.
:13:57. > :13:59.The grave is of Private George Hanlon and its in the Howard Davis
:14:00. > :14:03.Park Military Cemetery in Jersey. On the grave was a note that simply
:14:04. > :14:07.said, Dear Great Granddad. We have found you at last. From Rosie. Rosie
:14:08. > :14:10.turns out to be Rosie Weston, who now lives in Normandy. I always
:14:11. > :14:15.thought it was so sad that he was so far away and no one could visit him.
:14:16. > :14:20.I asked them, my husband and his friend, to go and have a look for
:14:21. > :14:32.him. They find the grave. We prepared the new beforehand and too
:14:33. > :14:36.good with us with the plastic rules. In case you're wondering, Rosie
:14:37. > :14:40.wasn't watching us in Normandy ` it was her sister, who still lives on
:14:41. > :14:51.the Isle of Wight, who put us in touch after seeing Friday's
:14:52. > :14:57.programme. Now, this sport. Picture the scene, a rock`solid defence,
:14:58. > :15:01.then this happens. Let's take a look at the moment. This is just a few
:15:02. > :15:06.seconds after kick`off at the Britannia stadium, Boruc done by the
:15:07. > :15:09.bounce, it seems. It was only the third goal Saints have conceded all
:15:10. > :15:18.season, certainly the most bizarre, and it put them behind. It has
:15:19. > :15:22.happened before, Peter Shilton in 1967. In form Jay Rodriguex planted
:15:23. > :15:25.this header into the ground and eventually into the net to equalise
:15:26. > :15:32.for Saints before half`time. They're sixth in the table. Here's Boruc.
:15:33. > :15:46.Obviously it was windy. After the points I realised I was in the
:15:47. > :15:55.middle of nowhere. They need to try to stay focused on the next game.
:15:56. > :16:03.Some people run me to tell me about Peter Shilton in 1967, so thanks for
:16:04. > :16:06.that. Reading harbour hopes of a swift return to the Premier League
:16:07. > :16:09.and, although they were beaten 5`2 at Sheffield Wednesday, manager
:16:10. > :16:12.Nigel Adkins took a lot of heart from the performance.
:16:13. > :16:15.Matty Fryatt scored twice on the day, former Royal Michail Antonio
:16:16. > :16:21.with a good finish. Pavel Pogrebnyak with a header. Unlucky, before
:16:22. > :16:29.half`time. Sean Morrison with an own goal. Wednesday went further ahead,
:16:30. > :16:40.so Adam Le Fondre's penalty was a consolation. It is hard when you get
:16:41. > :16:45.beaten 5`2, but you actually played all right. Well done to Sheffield
:16:46. > :16:50.Wednesday. They have had to wait a long time for this. They got a
:16:51. > :16:56.thumping victory. We know that we have to do better. We will start
:16:57. > :16:59.again on Monday morning. We will try to keep improving.
:17:00. > :17:05.Here's what else happened in the Football League. Bournemouth fans
:17:06. > :17:10.knew this would not be an easy season, so it is no surprise to see
:17:11. > :17:15.them on a tough run of results. Bolton may be struggling, but we
:17:16. > :17:23.still have good players with Premier League experience. Scoring goals in
:17:24. > :17:27.The Championship hasn't been a problem for the cherries until now.
:17:28. > :17:32.This is the first blank of the season. Jermaine Beckford with a
:17:33. > :17:37.deflected second for Walton got the final goal in the last minute. They
:17:38. > :17:43.keep flooding through the turnstiles at Portsmouth. More than 16,000 fans
:17:44. > :17:50.at Fratton Park. They were treated to a fine opening goal. Early in the
:17:51. > :17:56.second half, Ryan Bird does really well. His header doubled the lead.
:17:57. > :18:05.He would get in on the action again. A mistake brought Exeter back
:18:06. > :18:12.into the game. Trevor Carson will want to watch this one back too many
:18:13. > :18:17.times. John O'Flynn turned in a deep cross. Carson redeemed himself with
:18:18. > :18:20.a couple of late saves. Portsmouth held on.
:18:21. > :18:23.Two Hamble`based yachtsmen will have to wait three more days before being
:18:24. > :18:27.able to start the Transat Jacques Vabre yacht race from France to
:18:28. > :18:30.Brazil. The start of the race has been delayed for a second time due
:18:31. > :18:33.to bad weather. Our reporter Andy Breare has been speaking to Sam
:18:34. > :18:36.Goodchild and his co`skipper, Ned Collier Wakefield, in Le Havre today
:18:37. > :18:41.After news of another delay, there has been a despondent mood in the
:18:42. > :18:45.race village today. Le Havre was battered by 70 Malabar wins. The
:18:46. > :18:54.skipper says that the postponement is understandable. He understand why
:18:55. > :19:02.it is made. You just want to get on with it. If we had an option to go
:19:03. > :19:06.in later wins, then let's take it. I want to race, like everyone else,
:19:07. > :19:15.and you want everyone to have the same chance of winning `` 70 Malabar
:19:16. > :19:23.wins might not let everyone finish! They couldn't start the race today
:19:24. > :19:28.because of the high winds. The race was postponed until Thursday. It
:19:29. > :19:34.actually happened two years ago as well. There are a lot of owner
:19:35. > :19:43.drivers, as we call them, in this class. The lasting you want to do is
:19:44. > :19:46.go out and lose all your investment. 80% of the fleet didn't want to
:19:47. > :19:53.leave. For us it is the right decision. The last thing we want to
:19:54. > :19:58.do is go and break our boat. If we can sail in later wins, we will be
:19:59. > :20:06.happier. The frustrating game continues, then, as they prepare to
:20:07. > :20:08.race to Brazil on Thursday. Elsewhere this weekend, James
:20:09. > :20:11.O'Connor produced what London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith
:20:12. > :20:14.described as an outstanding display on his debut for the club.
:20:15. > :20:17.The exiles were beaten by Northampton on Saturday. O'Connor
:20:18. > :20:21.set up Salosi Tangithaibau for the Exiles's only try of the match. And
:20:22. > :20:34.the game was even until a late try from the visitors. Meanwhile,
:20:35. > :20:37.Basingstoke Bison held off the challenge of Peterborough on
:20:38. > :20:40.Saturday night to claim a 5`2 win and stay second in ice hockey's
:20:41. > :20:43.Premier League. The fifth goal came from Tomas Karpov, his second on the
:20:44. > :20:47.night. Now it's that time of year again `
:20:48. > :20:51.the bear's big night out for Children In Need at Beaulieu is just
:20:52. > :20:55.11 days away, This week, we'll be looking at how the money you gave so
:20:56. > :20:58.generously last year has been used across the South, starting tonight
:20:59. > :21:01.with a look at projects in Portsmouth, the Thames Valley, and
:21:02. > :21:06.first, the Isle of Wight. This project at Newport supports parents
:21:07. > :21:13.with anxiety or depression issues, to make sure that the children get
:21:14. > :21:18.all the care that they need. They give us ?6,471. We provide to 40
:21:19. > :21:24.family groups for families who are vulnerable and isolated. It might be
:21:25. > :21:28.that their parents are suffering from anxiety or depression which
:21:29. > :21:42.means going to agribusiness would be difficult for them. It is lovely to
:21:43. > :21:56.see her family coming together and be helped. To know that help is out
:21:57. > :22:04.there is amazing. This is the only charity in Berks to help those who
:22:05. > :22:11.have been told they are HIV`positive. The money has allowed
:22:12. > :22:18.them to hire a youth worker. HIV is a manageable condition, but the
:22:19. > :22:25.shock of having the diagnosis can be devastating. You can get on with
:22:26. > :22:30.your life. We got ?94,000 over three years. To what is the door and meet
:22:31. > :22:34.other people who are positive as well, you can see the relief on
