:00:00. > :00:13.London. That is all from

:00:14. > :00:19.And 81`year`old women is murdered in Hampshire. Her 80`year`old husband

:00:20. > :00:23.is charged. Stiff upper lips in a Dorset village

:00:24. > :00:29.as hundreds of homes are left without gas overnight. A couple of

:00:30. > :00:33.fleecy blankets and we will be fine. Guy Whittingham is sacked as the

:00:34. > :00:39.manager of Portsmouth months after its becomes the community club.

:00:40. > :00:45.And the Hampshire milkman whose doorstep delivery is the best in

:00:46. > :00:57.Britain. He is always there for you. He is a super guy.

:00:58. > :01:02.An 80`year`old man has appeared in court in Portsmouth accused of

:01:03. > :01:06.murdering his 81`year`old wife. The body of Annie Beaver was found by

:01:07. > :01:14.police at her home in Sherfield Avenue in the Leigh Park area of

:01:15. > :01:18.Havant early on Saturday morning. Tributes today outside the home

:01:19. > :01:20.where Annie and Peter Beaver had lived for 40 years. Friends and

:01:21. > :01:28.neighbours shocked and clearly upset at what was, in the words of one, a

:01:29. > :01:31.tragedy. They said 81`year`old Mrs Beaver was frail, had diabetes and

:01:32. > :01:35.dementia, and remained well respected by all who knew her. Very

:01:36. > :01:38.loyal to her family and would do anything for anyone and she

:01:39. > :01:44.absolutely worshipped them. It's very sad what's happened here. They

:01:45. > :01:48.were a lovely couple. The husband would do anything for anybody. You

:01:49. > :01:51.couldn't hope for better neighbours, really. Mrs Beaver was found dead

:01:52. > :01:54.when police were called at 6am on Saturday. A postmortem was carried

:01:55. > :01:57.out but police have not yet released its findings, citing ongoing

:01:58. > :02:01.inquiries. 80`year`old Peter Beaver was arrested at the house and

:02:02. > :02:04.questioned over the weekend while detectives carried out a forensic

:02:05. > :02:08.search of the property. A 55`year`old man was also arrested on

:02:09. > :02:11.suspicion of murder but has since been released with no further

:02:12. > :02:14.action. This morning Peter Beaver was taken to court having been

:02:15. > :02:18.charged with murder yesterday evening. The hearing here before

:02:19. > :02:21.magistrates in Portsmouth lasted around two minutes. Mr Beaver spoke

:02:22. > :02:26.only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. He was remanded

:02:27. > :02:35.into custody and will next appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday.

:02:36. > :02:38.A Dorset cyclist has pleaded guilty to causing a collision that left a

:02:39. > :02:41.child critically injured. Philip Benwell, 38, from Crescent Road in

:02:42. > :02:46.Bournemouth, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm to

:02:47. > :02:49.nine`year`old Leila Crofts. The accident happened in July on

:02:50. > :02:53.Pinecliff Road in Poole, close to Branksome Beach. Leila was in the

:02:54. > :02:59.paediatric intensive care unit at Southampton General Hospital for

:03:00. > :03:02.several days afterwards. Hundreds of people in a Dorset

:03:03. > :03:06.village spent last night without gas after a dramatic drop in gas

:03:07. > :03:10.pressure in the area. In all, 650 properties in Lytchett Matravers

:03:11. > :03:14.north of Poole had their supply cut off. Portable heaters and cookers

:03:15. > :03:26.were issued to residents from a centre at the local village hall.

:03:27. > :03:30.On a cold night, temperatures dropped as low as three degrees

:03:31. > :03:37.Celsius. By evening hundreds of homes had left hours without gas.

:03:38. > :03:41.Very cold indoors, but then when I was young we didn't have central

:03:42. > :03:46.heating. The water went off roundabout lunchtime and we did not

:03:47. > :03:50.get anything until about eight o'clock, so there were eight hours

:03:51. > :03:55.when it was up to you to find out what was going on. People have been

:03:56. > :04:01.knocking on doors and looking after each other. Southern Gas Networks

:04:02. > :04:03.set up an information point in the village hall, handing out free

:04:04. > :04:07.electric hotplates and portable heaters. Denise had barely got her

:04:08. > :04:11.home set up after moving house when she discovered she'd be spending the

:04:12. > :04:14.night and day without gas. We have not been here all weekend so the

:04:15. > :04:20.house was quite cold and then I was told to go to the village hall to

:04:21. > :04:23.get information. And also to pick up a hobby, a cooker, an electric

:04:24. > :04:31.cooker that we could use for cooking, and Peter. This morning the

:04:32. > :04:37.cause of the problem was found. Gas pressure had dropped extremely low.

:04:38. > :04:42.It is unusual for there to be a fault but once he knew about it we

:04:43. > :04:50.got the resources don't fix it and brought in their engineers to turn

:04:51. > :04:54.off people's gas. 80 of the company's staff are on hand, to work

:04:55. > :04:58.into the night for the second day in a row. They are now in the process

:04:59. > :05:01.of turning gas supplies back on one by one.

:05:02. > :05:04.The crew of the Portsmouth based carrier HMS Illustrious should have

:05:05. > :05:07.been on their way home for Christmas. Instead, they've just

:05:08. > :05:12.arrived in the Philippines to begin distributing aid to those affected

:05:13. > :05:20.by the typhoon two weeks ago. It's carrying 500 tonnes of British

:05:21. > :05:25.government aid. Ten days ago, HMS Illustrious was

:05:26. > :05:29.looking for pirates off the coast of Somalia and its crew starting to

:05:30. > :05:32.think about heading home. When Typhoon Haiyan struck the

:05:33. > :05:42.Philippines it brought a change of plan. When I tell my son why I miss

:05:43. > :05:45.his first Christmas, I will explain to him the Philippines needed help

:05:46. > :05:52.and we were able to provide that help. Richie is the ship's

:05:53. > :05:56.navigator, responsible for guiding the aircraft carrier around the

:05:57. > :06:02.world. Three weeks ago, he became a father for the first time but with

:06:03. > :06:06.HMS Illustrious' time at the extended it will be January before

:06:07. > :06:14.he sees his little boy again. My wife will appreciate what we're to

:06:15. > :06:21.do. It probably makes it slightly easier that what we are going to do

:06:22. > :06:28.is help other people. In the galley, there are more stiff upper

:06:29. > :06:31.lips onshore. 800 servicemen and women eat here everyday, but the

:06:32. > :06:38.only complaints a year and about the variety of food, not the decision to

:06:39. > :06:40.go to the Philippines. It was beating it to my three`year`old

:06:41. > :06:45.niece which I was not looking forward to doing, but she knows that

:06:46. > :06:50.I am on the big ship and going out to help people, so I thought that

:06:51. > :06:57.was sweet, and my girlfriend has been fantastic. Having taken on

:06:58. > :07:03.board 500 tonnes of aid Mike in Singapore, family sized packages of

:07:04. > :07:07.food, water and plastic sheeting are being put together ready to start

:07:08. > :07:12.delivering on Tuesday. We are going to the Philippines. We know that

:07:13. > :07:15.some assistance has been provided in that area but we are concerned there

:07:16. > :07:20.have been isolated communities that have received little assistance so

:07:21. > :07:26.we are going to look at what has been provided and try to provide

:07:27. > :07:32.support to those communities. All of the aid on board is going to be

:07:33. > :07:39.delivered by helicopter. Some of them, like this at sea can, can

:07:40. > :07:42.carry several tonnes at a time. They can all reach those remote locations

:07:43. > :07:46.that may have received very little in terms of help so far.

:07:47. > :07:49.Two formal warnings have been issued to the owners of a Hampshire nursing

:07:50. > :07:53.home following an unannounced inspection by the Care Quality

:07:54. > :07:56.Commission. They found the Bupa`run Bereweeke Court Nursing Home in

:07:57. > :08:01.Winchester was not meeting standards in staffing levels and the safety of

:08:02. > :08:06.the premises. Bupa says it has taken immediate action including

:08:07. > :08:08.restructuring the staff team. The Berkshire church where the

:08:09. > :08:12.Duchess of Cambridge was christened could be sold because it costs too

:08:13. > :08:15.much to heat and maintain. The vicar of St Andrew's in Bradfield says

:08:16. > :08:18.discussions are under way to explore the possibility of the building

:08:19. > :08:21.being taken over by neighbouring Bradfield College. But the proposal

:08:22. > :08:31.has angered some local residents who've worshipped there for decades.

:08:32. > :08:36.Having worshipped at St Andrew's for nearly 40 years, Andrew is shocked

:08:37. > :08:39.that services could cease. It is appalling, the church has been there

:08:40. > :08:43.for hundreds of years and when you think about all of the Babel who

:08:44. > :08:51.have played there, the idea of having to go to a modern church, I

:08:52. > :08:56.cannot imagine it. He is hoping that Kate Middleton's parents will back

:08:57. > :09:01.the campaign. The congregation is dwindling and rarely feels the

:09:02. > :09:05.chairs that the front. It costs around ?350 per service to heat and

:09:06. > :09:10.heating is so poor nor services can be held here during the coldest

:09:11. > :09:15.winter months. The church is increasingly expensive to maintain

:09:16. > :09:18.and heat. There is very inadequate parking and we feel that the needs

:09:19. > :09:23.of the parish and the congregation would be better served with a new

:09:24. > :09:30.church to replace the existing St Peter's church in Bradfield so. The

:09:31. > :09:32.congregation here is expanding. Church says discussions about the

:09:33. > :09:40.possibility of selling the building to Bradfield College and at a very

:09:41. > :09:47.early stage. It was the Revolution who enlarged `` the reverent who

:09:48. > :09:52.enlarged the church. He then provided choristers design at

:09:53. > :09:57.services. The historical links are strong. Even of the College takes

:09:58. > :10:01.this building on, the dieses says the churchyard will remain

:10:02. > :10:07.consecrated so people will still be able to visit the graves of their

:10:08. > :10:09.loved ones. Detectives are appealing for

:10:10. > :10:16.information after a run rates fell robbery. The robbers reversed into

:10:17. > :10:20.the service station in the early hours of the morning. The men ran

:10:21. > :10:25.into the garage and demanded money and still just over ?10,000. The

:10:26. > :10:28.cashier was shocked but not injured. 400 people have now signed a

:10:29. > :10:31.petition calling for the resignation of Wiltshire Council's leader and

:10:32. > :10:33.its cabinet after they voted to increase their allowances. The

:10:34. > :10:38.leader Jane Scott will see her allowances rise by almost ?15,000.

:10:39. > :10:46.The authority says it was a decision taken by the full council.

:10:47. > :10:55.Still to come: All change at Portsmouth Football Club as manager

:10:56. > :10:58.Guy Whittingham is sacked. The winter vomiting bug Norovirus

:10:59. > :11:02.has forced the closure of more wards at Southampton General Hospital.

:11:03. > :11:06.Seven wards have now been shut as a precaution. The highly contagious

:11:07. > :11:09.bug is airborne and hospital managers have advised people not to

:11:10. > :11:16.visit if they have had any sickness or diarrhoea symptoms in the last 48

:11:17. > :11:19.hours. Smartphone applications, or apps as

:11:20. > :11:24.they're called, can be used for all sorts of handy tasks. Now there's

:11:25. > :11:28.one that could help treat a cardiac arrest. South Central Ambulance

:11:29. > :11:30.Service has designed a free tool that locates defibrillators,

:11:31. > :11:36.increasingly kept in public places like train stations, surgeries and

:11:37. > :11:45.shopping centres. The Service says it has no doubt the app will save

:11:46. > :11:49.lives. An emotional reunion for Colin and

:11:50. > :11:52.the lady who saved his life. Six years ago Colin collapsed with a

:11:53. > :12:01.cardiac arrest while coaching football at his local leisure

:12:02. > :12:05.centre. I am absolutely certain that if it did not happen here and the

:12:06. > :12:11.staff did not intervene in the way that they did, I definitely would

:12:12. > :12:15.not be here today. My youngest son was only two years old when I had my

:12:16. > :12:21.heart attack. If I had died, he would not know who I was. Now he is

:12:22. > :12:25.eight and he knows who I am and I am still here and I have watched my

:12:26. > :12:28.children grow up and they have had a dad. A defibrillator helped keep

:12:29. > :12:31.Colin alive. Now finding one should be easier. South Central Ambulance

:12:32. > :12:40.Service has designed a phone app that shows where nearby machines are

:12:41. > :12:43.kept. It is very easy. You click on the app itself and what it will do

:12:44. > :12:51.is it will tell us where we are and where are the rest if regulator is

:12:52. > :12:54.`` rainiest defibrillator. We have people who unquestionably would have

:12:55. > :13:03.been dead were not for you defibrillator. I have managed to

:13:04. > :13:11.find a defibrillator. I am assured it is easy`to`use. Plug in the pad

:13:12. > :13:18.connector next to the flashing light. It is incredibly

:13:19. > :13:22.straightforward to use, but this is where I need to start first aid with

:13:23. > :13:28.test impressions, two minutes of this and then the defibrillator will

:13:29. > :13:31.tell me to stop. Of course the Ambulance Service treats cardiac

:13:32. > :13:34.arrest as a top priority, but it's convinced the app will help at the

:13:35. > :13:40.scene of an emergency until expert help arrives.

:13:41. > :13:43.The magical world of Harry Potter has enchanted fans for years, now

:13:44. > :13:48.Hogwarts is coming to life in Florida, in part thanks to a company

:13:49. > :13:50.from West Sussex. Limehouse Lamp Company is providing nearly 300

:13:51. > :14:04.lights for the Harry Potter Experience at Universal Studios.

:14:05. > :14:08.Everything here is done by hand and everything has to be perfect. This

:14:09. > :14:14.factory makes traditional English lights, just right for the Harry

:14:15. > :14:18.Potter franchise. Those sort of clients in this day and age are very

:14:19. > :14:25.hard to find any mass produce market. It is nice but an American

:14:26. > :14:32.company has come all the way to England to find us and use as and

:14:33. > :14:39.procure what they want through us. The lights are heading to Orlando,

:14:40. > :14:53.270 of them. The theme park is home to the popular Harry Potter event.

:14:54. > :15:00.It has made a considerable increase to the company. I have worked in

:15:01. > :15:03.many situations and the art of hand making things is dying off, so to be

:15:04. > :15:09.able to work in an industry that I trained in for most of my life for

:15:10. > :15:14.large customers doing large projects means that we continue on that

:15:15. > :15:18.tradition of handmade culture. A team of 12 is finishing, preparing

:15:19. > :15:31.and polishing the final few. It has to be sent by the end of the month,

:15:32. > :15:35.ready for next year. In the last hour, we have been

:15:36. > :15:41.hearing that Guy Whittingham has been sacked. Is this a surprise? I

:15:42. > :15:42.think these things are always a little bit surprising and it comes

:15:43. > :15:49.down to timing. People will always bring out the

:15:50. > :15:55.word panic. A few weeks ago the mood was that things were OK. Suddenly we

:15:56. > :16:00.get this news in the last hour or so that he is gone.

:16:01. > :16:05.Do they have anybody in their sites? They would not do it without, which

:16:06. > :16:11.they? No, you would sense that somebody

:16:12. > :16:14.will be employed fairly soon. I understand Guy Whittingham was left

:16:15. > :16:21.stunned by the decision to sack him. He took training today. These are

:16:22. > :16:25.library pictures. It is known that some boardroom figures had expressed

:16:26. > :16:30.disappointment at recent results in all competitions. They had lost

:16:31. > :16:33.their last four games. He did his regular pre`match press conference

:16:34. > :16:38.ahead of tomorrow night's game and he was called to a meeting where he

:16:39. > :16:47.was informed he was being sacked. They have placed someone in charge

:16:48. > :16:50.for tomorrow night's game. Portsmouth have expressed gratitude

:16:51. > :16:58.for his service which included stealing them through last season's

:16:59. > :17:01.Administration `` steering. Guy Whittingham no longer the Portsmouth

:17:02. > :17:07.manager. We will wait to see who they could bring in. From Portsmouth

:17:08. > :17:12.to Southampton, and their manager refused to place the blame on his

:17:13. > :17:20.goalkeeper after his mistake gifted Arsenal a call on Saturday.

:17:21. > :17:31.Here he was trying to do his skills, he turns left, he turns

:17:32. > :17:38.right, he has not had a great month. A real mess. That put Southampton

:17:39. > :17:45.1`0 down. He has not had a great time. This was at Stoke. Right after

:17:46. > :17:55.kick`off, he was beaten by the bouncing ball. This was in earlier

:17:56. > :18:01.this month. Let us not forget that it balances out. He has made some

:18:02. > :18:05.fantastic saves this reason. He does retain the face of a lot of the fans

:18:06. > :18:19.full is that is the second goal Arsenal scored to make it 2`0.

:18:20. > :18:22.Southampton are fifth in the league. Bournemouth had their biggest road

:18:23. > :18:27.of the season on Saturday as Steve McClaren and Derby came to the south

:18:28. > :18:31.coast. Looking for reinforcements after a narrow defeat. His team

:18:32. > :18:42.perhaps made the wrong decision. Mark Hughes. So. This was the

:18:43. > :18:48.winner. Steve crooks tweeted to say that incident is not as bad as first

:18:49. > :18:54.feared. He was stretchered off. The Reading boss was in a good mood

:18:55. > :18:59.before this one. He felt decisions went against his side. That is the

:19:00. > :19:07.dive, according to the referee, and it denied the Royals a penalty and

:19:08. > :19:13.he got a yellow card. 0`0. Being the big club in League Two has

:19:14. > :19:19.its downsides for Portsmouth. It was all going well enough. Tom Craddock

:19:20. > :19:30.doing well to head that one in. That only lasted about four minutes. The

:19:31. > :19:36.winner came 20 minutes from the end. Portsmouth are 18th in the table.

:19:37. > :19:39.Guy Whittingham sacked by Portsmouth in the last hour.

:19:40. > :19:43.In rugby's Premiership, London Irish were beaten by Leicester. The exiles

:19:44. > :19:46.lost to two penalty tries at Welford Road. Australian James O'Connor

:19:47. > :19:49.kicked two penalties on the day and Irish went over through Mulchrone

:19:50. > :19:58.but it was in vain and Irish remain one off the bottom of the table.

:19:59. > :20:03.Bracknell handed Gilford a surprise defeat in the ice hockey Premier

:20:04. > :20:07.League. It was the second consecutive home shutout. 6`0. A

:20:08. > :20:10.dominant display. Southampton held its first junior

:20:11. > :20:14.fun run this weekend after the city was chosen as a venue for one of

:20:15. > :20:17.only six national free weekly runs for children. Around 70 youngsters,

:20:18. > :20:21.some just four years old, turned out to run the two kilometre timed event

:20:22. > :20:24.at Riverside Park. The junior series comes after a successful adult

:20:25. > :20:35.series, run every week in locations across the UK and worldwide.

:20:36. > :20:42.Three fun for kids, what could be more infighting? This is aimed at

:20:43. > :20:46.children between four and 14 and is a two column at timed run around

:20:47. > :20:52.Riverside Park in Southampton. We are one of the first open this

:20:53. > :20:56.weekend. We are really proud to have been chosen. The idea is to bring as

:20:57. > :21:01.many children into running and enjoying themselves on a Sunday

:21:02. > :21:04.morning. There are now six junior park runs that enable people to

:21:05. > :21:09.exercise in a safe and controlled environment. This is about the

:21:10. > :21:12.children's future and to be able to inspire children to take up exercise

:21:13. > :21:19.especially with the reports of obesity nowadays. It is run entirely

:21:20. > :21:24.by volunteers and will take place every week, whatever the weather.

:21:25. > :21:37.Quite tiring, but quite fun. You can keep fit. We do not like running.

:21:38. > :21:51.Too fast. I run faster than William. Who wants to do it next week? Me is

:21:52. > :21:56.the mission . Tomorrow night we'll be meeting

:21:57. > :21:59.Olympic snowboarder Billy Morgan. I caught up with the Southampton

:22:00. > :22:03.athlete as he recovers from injury ahead of what will be a big winter

:22:04. > :22:07.for him with the X`Games and then the Olympics. We'll also show you

:22:08. > :22:22.the incredible trick which has stunned the snowboarding world.

:22:23. > :22:25.Now, the milkman. The man who delivers milk to your door every

:22:26. > :22:28.day, whatever the weather, is becoming an endangered species these

:22:29. > :22:31.days. The advent of convenience stores and supermarkets mean milk is

:22:32. > :22:34.easily available almost 24/7, so for a milkman to flourish the service

:22:35. > :22:37.has to be pretty special. So how special does that make Kevin Dyer

:22:38. > :22:47.from Farnborough in Hampshire, whose doorstep delivery has just earned

:22:48. > :22:54.him the title Milkman of the Year? As most of us turn in for the night,

:22:55. > :22:59.Kevin's day is about to begin. He prepares to head out on his milk

:23:04. > :23:08.of a century. His career was very nearly cut short. I should have been

:23:09. > :23:19.off work for about a week or so for routine surgery and I contracted

:23:20. > :23:23.MRSA and subsequently I lost my hip and I had two years off work and I

:23:24. > :23:29.was told I would probably not be able to do the job again. It is now

:24:04. > :24:09.back to the daily. Going back to 20 years ago, the wife would be at home

:24:10. > :24:19.with the children. Nowadays, people work. They like the milk before they

:24:20. > :24:24.got to work. So it is not left out all day. As most of its customers

:25:30. > :25:33.Despite high pressure over the UK, there is a lot of cloud associated

:25:34. > :25:41.with that. The skies will clear tonight and mist and fog and then

:25:42. > :25:48.slightly more cloud the further east you are. The temperatures will fall

:25:49. > :25:53.to around minus two. A cold and frosty start for some with lingering

:25:54. > :26:02.fog patches. We will CDs and amounts of sunshine but variable amounts of

:26:03. > :26:04.cloud `` varying. There will be a light breeze coming from the north

:26:05. > :26:10.and temperatures will struggle to rise during the day, just four

:26:11. > :26:14.degrees. Sunny spells to end the day for some before the cloud arrives

:26:15. > :26:18.during the overnight period into the early hours of the morning and with

:26:19. > :26:24.that patchy rain and drizzle. Not amounting to much but freezing

:26:25. > :26:32.temperatures in some parts and with the rainfall the rest of ice. Patchy

:26:48. > :26:52.Wednesday night we will see milder air behind it so we will have a

:26:53. > :26:57.brief mild period or less cold period. The milder air moves in but

:26:58. > :27:01.it will be short lived as we will see cold air by the weekend.

:27:02. > :27:08.Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, slightly milder air and then the

:27:09. > :27:17.cold day returns on Friday. Sunshine for sum. We are looking at a lot of
