:00:18. > :00:25.Good afternoon. I'm Roger Finn. First the rain, now the wind. Gusts

:00:26. > :00:28.of up to 70 mph are forecast to hit the south coast later this

:00:29. > :00:31.afternoon. A severe flood warning was issued for Chiswell in Portland,

:00:32. > :00:34.where wave heights could reach up to nine metres. In Reading, army

:00:35. > :00:37.reserves are on stand`by with sandbags to prevent flooding from

:00:38. > :00:40.the Thames. And last night, the River Test burst its banks, flooding

:00:41. > :00:45.parts of Romsey, from where Steve Humphrey reports.

:00:46. > :00:49.Romsey is continuing to grapple with some major flood problems this

:00:50. > :00:56.morning. Amongst the properties that have been badly affected are along

:00:57. > :01:03.the bash those along this road. Our house, the floor, is under two feet

:01:04. > :01:06.of water, as are the seven properties in the road. As I

:01:07. > :01:11.understand it, the River Test our peer has burst its banks at at least

:01:12. > :01:18.about in at least three places. The waters are rising. What are you

:01:19. > :01:23.going to do? We will wait until the water levels have subsided. Can't do

:01:24. > :01:29.very much at the moment. We still have power at the moment, and if we

:01:30. > :01:34.lose power, we will have to move into temporary accommodation. Thank

:01:35. > :01:38.you. All of this is the result of torrential rain continuing to fall.

:01:39. > :01:44.January was the wettest months since 1910, in February, we have had rain

:01:45. > :01:45.falling on already saturated ground, which has led to all of this

:01:46. > :01:48.flooding. Plenty more information on the

:01:49. > :01:51.flooding situation on your BBC local website, of course, and tomorrow's

:01:52. > :01:54.Sunday Politics programme. We will be looking at whether flood

:01:55. > :01:56.prevention schemes and their associated costs are the way

:01:57. > :01:59.forward. Joining them for a chat will be Newbury MP and former floods

:02:00. > :02:02.minister Richard Benyon. About 200 family and friends

:02:03. > :02:07.gathered this morning to pay their last respects at the funeral of

:02:08. > :02:10.17`year`old Jayden Parkinson. The teenager's body was found in a

:02:11. > :02:13.church cemetery in Didcot in December, after she had been

:02:14. > :02:16.reported missing. Jayden's ex`boyfriend Ben Blakeley, from

:02:17. > :02:22.Reading, has been charged with her murder.

:02:23. > :02:25.In the Winter Olympics at Sochi, there was disappointment for

:02:26. > :02:29.Southampton's Billy Morgan. He finished tenth in the snowboard

:02:30. > :02:33.slopestyle final. There had been high hopes following his display in

:02:34. > :02:40.the semis, but Morgan fell on both of his final runs. Back home, family

:02:41. > :02:43.and friends had an early start. They watched live from 5:30am near the

:02:44. > :02:51.dry slope where Billy trained when he was a youngster. If I had landed

:02:52. > :02:57.that right, I'm sure it would have been good. It was big, and the rails

:02:58. > :03:00.at the top were pretty good. I'm pretty sure I did all right, but

:03:01. > :03:03.that's the name of the game. You have to land your feet.

:03:04. > :03:06.We'll have a full round`up of our football scores on this evening's

:03:07. > :03:09.bulletin just after 7pm. And don't forget your BBC Local Radio station

:03:10. > :03:11.will have coverage throughout the afternoon.

:03:12. > :03:23.Lets get the weather forecast now. We still have some windy weather to

:03:24. > :03:28.come. Parts of the coast could see some very strong gust for today and

:03:29. > :03:33.tonight. Some very strong showers through the afternoon as well.

:03:34. > :03:37.Temperatures not pleasant with the showers and with the strength of the

:03:38. > :03:44.wind. These are the average wind speeds. The gusts will be much

:03:45. > :03:51.stronger, along the coast. `` particularly along the coast. Wet

:03:52. > :03:57.and windy again on Tuesday. That's it from us. Our next news is

:03:58. > :04:05.tonight at 7pm. Have a very good afternoon.

:04:06. > :04:14.evening. -- the winds will ease Good afternoon. It is yet another

:04:15. > :04:20.stormy day to day with heavy rain around and very strong winds. The

:04:21. > :04:24.Met office has issued an amber warning for the strong winds. They

:04:25. > :04:27.could be disruptive and damaging. This is the latest in a string of

:04:28. > :04:32.storms that we have seen this winter. For southern England, this

:04:33. > :04:37.looks like one of the wettest winters for 250 years. Scotland saw

:04:38. > :04:38.the wettest December 4/100
