:00:34. > :00:37.bowlers vented their anger `nd frustration on the streets of

:00:38. > :00:40.Horsham. They are upset the future of their indoor bowling club is

:00:41. > :00:42.threatened by a council`inspired redevelopment.

:00:43. > :00:50.You cannot play football or hockey at our age, so you play bowls, it is

:00:51. > :00:55.a nice, gentle sport. It is fun and the people who run it make ht much

:00:56. > :00:59.more enjoyable, as well. It is a strong club and I think we

:01:00. > :01:03.should fight for our club, ht should stay open It is definitely worth it.

:01:04. > :01:06.Horsham's indoor bowling centre is used seven days a week by players of

:01:07. > :01:09.all ages, but the building hs threatened by plans for what is

:01:10. > :01:14.called the Broadbridge Heath quarter. The bowling centre along

:01:15. > :01:17.with the next`door sports cdntre could be knocked down to make way

:01:18. > :01:28.for new leisure facilities, new hotel and up to 200 apartments.

:01:29. > :01:31.What do you want in return? Simply a replacement facility.

:01:32. > :01:33.Do you think you will get it? I don't know at the moment, it is

:01:34. > :01:35.still looking doubtful. That is why you are keeping up the

:01:38. > :01:42.In a statement, Horsham District Council have said no final decisions

:01:43. > :01:46.have been made. They say thdy will be looking at a business case put

:01:47. > :01:49.forward by the Bowls club. There is due to be a meeting by the council

:01:50. > :02:00.and representatives from thd bowls club on April seventh.

:02:01. > :02:03.The government has given ?10,00 to a community trust which is trying to

:02:04. > :02:06.buy South Parade Pier in Sotthsea. The pier is currently closed and the

:02:07. > :02:12.owners have been ordered to carry out work to make it safe. L`st week

:02:13. > :02:14.it was claimed it had been sold but that's not been confirmed. @

:02:15. > :02:18.community group is still confident it can take over the pier and will

:02:19. > :02:22.use the government grant to get help with fundraising and building its

:02:23. > :02:26.community support. We think we can buy the pier.

:02:27. > :02:30.Obviously it is a chicken and egg situation because if you don't have

:02:31. > :02:35.the money you cannot get st`rted to buy the pier, but we think we can.

:02:36. > :02:38.These are tough economic tiles but this is a community project. The

:02:39. > :02:41.government supports community projects, it is a cheaper option

:02:42. > :02:47.than the council or someone else buying it out. The pier has been

:02:48. > :02:51.your for 135 years and residents do not want to see it go.
