:00:11. > :00:13.Hello. Good evening, I'm Dani Sinha. The forgotten shipwrecks of World
:00:14. > :00:18.War One are to be explored in a million pound project to mark the
:00:19. > :00:21.centenary of the conflict. There are hundreds of vessels off the south
:00:22. > :00:26.coast which were sunk by German U`boats, but most are unrecognised
:00:27. > :00:29.and unprotected. Now the race is on to survey them properly before they
:00:30. > :00:37.disintegrate, as Chrissy Sturt reports.
:00:38. > :00:42.Deep below the surface, just a few miles south of the Isle of Wight, a
:00:43. > :00:48.marine archaeologist explores the ship destroyed by a torpedo drawing
:00:49. > :00:52.the war. This is the South Western, a small steamship that went down on
:00:53. > :00:56.the way to France. Like many vessels commandeered for the war effort, she
:00:57. > :01:02.was trying to get supplies to the Front, they never made it. Last
:01:03. > :01:06.year, Maritime Archaeology Trust took a proper look at her for the
:01:07. > :01:13.first time and that is something they will be doing a lot more of,
:01:14. > :01:18.with a grant worth more than million pounds. Be forgotten wrecks of the
:01:19. > :01:23.First World War are very important because for the first time, we are
:01:24. > :01:27.having a collective look at part of our heritage. They are starting to
:01:28. > :01:31.fall apart and this may be the last chance we have to get a feel of what
:01:32. > :01:38.is down there before they break down. There are 251st World War
:01:39. > :01:43.wrecks along the south coast. The time capsules, waiting to tell the
:01:44. > :01:47.story of the war effort that took place at sea. We want to make some
:01:48. > :01:52.investigations of those wrecks so we can make people aware of the losses
:01:53. > :01:58.and tragedies and sacrifices that people made during the First World
:01:59. > :02:01.War at sea, to keep us safe. All the information gathered by the project
:02:02. > :02:06.will be available online and they are looking for volunteers to help
:02:07. > :02:11.before these lost ship wrecks are claimed by the sea for ever.
:02:12. > :02:16.Wiltshire Police have charged a 68`year`old man with the murder of a
:02:17. > :02:19.64`year`old. The victim died after a fatal knife wound at a house in the
:02:20. > :02:21.village of Durrington, near Stonehenge, on Good Friday. Leonard
:02:22. > :02:26.Webb, who neighbours described as a retired army officer, will appear in
:02:27. > :02:29.court tomorrow morning. The father of a Worthing teenager who survived
:02:30. > :02:32.being thrown from a fairground ride has said it was a "traumatic"
:02:33. > :02:35.incident for the whole family. 18`year`old Beth Thorpe was thrown
:02:36. > :02:39.from a 15ft high Rocker ride on Marine Parade in Worthing, on
:02:40. > :02:42.Thursday. She suffered bruising and grazing over her body, and a friend
:02:43. > :02:45.described seeing her "flung about like a rag doll". The ride has since
:02:46. > :02:51.re`opened, following a safety investigation. The Angling Trust has
:02:52. > :02:54.criticised a decision not to prosecute a gang of poachers who
:02:55. > :02:58.tried to haul hundreds of fish our of Christchurch Harbour. The
:02:59. > :03:01.six`strong group of men were operating from the shore near
:03:02. > :03:09.Coastguard Way in Mudeford last week. They were using nets almost a
:03:10. > :03:12.mile long to trap fish and it's understood they had a chiller van on
:03:13. > :03:15.stand`by. The Angling Trust says illegal fishing is a very serious
:03:16. > :03:19.offence and will be pushing the authorities, including the
:03:20. > :03:23.Environment Agency, to take action. It's brightening up this evening for
:03:24. > :03:26.most of us ` but we've had some very heavy downpours across the South
:03:27. > :03:31.today. So, how are the Easter attractions faring so far? Ed Sherry
:03:32. > :03:40.has this. Forget the bucket and spade. Today
:03:41. > :03:43.it was more a case of wellies and waterproofs here on the Dorset coast
:03:44. > :03:49.at Avon Beach. After two days of sunshine, it was brought out for the
:03:50. > :03:54.best at this village fair. It can come across as a old sailing town
:03:55. > :03:57.but we want to change that, there are young people and a lot of
:03:58. > :04:01.exciting creative things happening and people are looking into that
:04:02. > :04:06.going, wow, this is great. Meanwhile, here on the Dorset coach,
:04:07. > :04:12.despite appearances, tourism bosses are hoping this will kick`start a
:04:13. > :04:15.summer of vacations. And holiday`makers here weren't being
:04:16. > :04:19.put off by the 'traditional' bank holiday weather. I do not mind being
:04:20. > :04:23.by the sea but it would be nice with more sunshine. I am going to
:04:24. > :04:29.Cornwall for a month in a week so I'm hoping it will get better. This
:04:30. > :04:34.was it but tomorrow should be better again, so you just have to go out
:04:35. > :04:38.and enjoy the weather when you can. It is April showers, it is what you
:04:39. > :04:49.get, so just enjoy it. I have been swimming and just chilling. Back in
:04:50. > :04:53.Lymington, the dance shoes were on, the ice creams were in hand and
:04:54. > :04:57.everybody was hoping the power of song works its magic for bank
:04:58. > :05:03.holiday Monday. Let's look at the weather now, here
:05:04. > :05:06.is Emily. We have had some wet weather today and unsettled weather
:05:07. > :05:10.will continue into next week. Here is the low pressure that wrought
:05:11. > :05:15.that band of persistent rain and thunder and lightning. We will
:05:16. > :05:18.continue with heavy rain for a time before it clears away to the north.
:05:19. > :05:24.The rest of the night looks drier with clear skies and lighter winds.
:05:25. > :05:26.Mist and fog may form tomorrow morning but a mild night with
:05:27. > :05:34.temperatures of six or seven degrees. First thing tomorrow,
:05:35. > :05:37.cloudy, but brighter skies later, and localised showers developing
:05:38. > :05:41.with a risk of hail and thunder once again. It should feel milder
:05:42. > :05:47.tomorrow with temperatures reaching 17 Celsius. The week ahead contains
:05:48. > :05:51.a mixture of weather with Tuesday having heavy showers but also
:05:52. > :05:56.sunshine. That is all from us for now, we are back later on at
:05:57. > :06:07.10:15pm, until then, have a lovely evening, goodbye.
:06:08. > :06:13.Hello. Well, it was another lovely sunny day across the north of the
:06:14. > :06:16.UK. What a difference over the south. The rain set in for the
:06:17. > :06:19.course of the afternoon. There's more of that to come. It has been
:06:20. > :06:26.getting heavy across southern England. A narrow band for London,
:06:27. > :06:30.for the south Midlands, to south Wales and the south west. Lots of
:06:31. > :06:34.water on the roads. Overnight it will move away out towards the west.
:06:35. > :06:38.A few showers across northern England and into Northern Ireland
:06:39. > :06:43.for a time. Otherwise it looks like staying largely dry. A mild night as
:06:44. > :06:47.well. Nothing like as cold as last night. Just the far north perhaps
:06:48. > :06:51.seeing temperatures dipping away under clearer skies. A cloudy start
:06:52. > :06:58.for many of us tomorrow. The sun will break through every now and
:06:59. > :07:01.then. Areas bordering the Irish Sea looking good as well. You will
:07:02. > :07:06.notice showers developing further south. As we go into the afternoon,
:07:07. > :07:15.a zone of heavy showers across the south Midlands and into Wales.
:07:16. > :07:16.Torrential downpours are possible. With lighter winds, between
