:00:09. > :00:12.the late news at 10. 15pm. Now it's Hello. Good evening, I'm Dani Sinha.

:00:13. > :00:14.Several hundred people marched through Dorchester this aftdrnoon to

:00:15. > :00:17.protest against the governmdnt's plans to continue culling b`dgers.

:00:18. > :00:20.The demonstrators want an end to the controversial policy, which is aimed

:00:21. > :00:24.at reducing the spread of TB to cattle. Dorset is a high risk area

:00:25. > :00:26.and could see a cull in the future. James Ingham reports.

:00:27. > :00:29.Save our badgers! United by their love of badgers, and their hatred of

:00:30. > :00:32.the controversial cull. These protesters are angry that b`dgers

:00:33. > :00:35.will continue to be killed this year, despite initial pilots proving

:00:36. > :00:39.to have failed to stop the spread of TB to cattle. We will show the world

:00:40. > :00:42.that we are not going to st`nd by quietly while you just butcher

:00:43. > :00:44.wildlife for a few political votes. Campaigners say there are

:00:45. > :00:47.alternatives to culling. In Dorset, volunteers are trying to vaccinate

:00:48. > :00:50.as many badgers as possible, in the hope of showing it can be a more

:00:51. > :00:54.effective way of containing TB. I don't think we can let up for a

:00:55. > :00:57.second. The government and the NFU have shown that they haven't

:00:58. > :00:59.listened to the signs and are determined to push ahead. S`ve our

:01:00. > :01:02.badgers! The marchers drew curious looks as they weaved their way

:01:03. > :01:05.through Dorchester's streets, not everyone sharing their point of

:01:06. > :01:08.view. They are killing the cows and costing the farmers millions. It is

:01:09. > :01:48.an emotive issue with farmers backing the cull. While the pilot

:01:49. > :01:52.areas won't be expanded, thd government says it is committed to

:01:53. > :01:55.continuing trials as part of a range of measures to tackle Bovind TB

:01:56. > :01:58.An elderly woman who was struck by a fire engine which was responding to

:01:59. > :02:01.an incident in Oxford, has died Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue have

:02:02. > :02:03.said their thoughts are with her family following the "tragic

:02:04. > :02:06.incident". Police are investigating. A row between the celebrity Chris

:02:07. > :02:10.Evans and residents of a West Sussex village over the future of their pub

:02:11. > :02:13.appears to have come to an dnd. Mr Evans bought the Lickfold Inn, near

:02:14. > :02:17.Midhurst, but for almost fotr years it's been boarded up. Now there s a

:02:18. > :02:20.new owner, as Sean Killick reports. It is a sight at which locals will

:02:21. > :02:23.raise a glass in a cautious celebration. After four years

:02:24. > :02:26.closed, with water leaking hn, and being placed on a Heritage `t Risk

:02:27. > :02:33.Register, work is finally underway at renovating the Lickfold Hnn.

:02:34. > :02:38.Chris Evans bought the pub hn 2 07, but he closed it three years later

:02:39. > :02:41.saying it wasn't viable. Since 010, locals have campaigned to gdt it

:02:42. > :02:48.reopened, even launching a bid to buy it themselves. Now, thex have

:02:49. > :02:50.been told it has been sold. We got great support from the parish

:02:51. > :02:53.council, the district counchl, and the pub was actually made an asset

:02:54. > :02:57.of community value, which mdant it could not be sold for six months and

:02:58. > :03:04.we looked for other people to buy it. Then, it was readvertisdd and it

:03:05. > :03:07.now, of course, has been sold. Everybody is very positive because

:03:08. > :03:11.it looks as if it is somebody who is going to make it into an excellent

:03:12. > :03:14.restaurant and it will be hdre to serve the community. Builders are

:03:15. > :03:18.already working on the Gradd II listed building. The new owners have

:03:19. > :03:21.not yet gone public but thex are believed to be a London`basdd

:03:22. > :03:24.company. They have confirmed that they do intend to run it as a pub

:03:25. > :03:32.and restaurant and it's likdly to reopen in August.

:03:33. > :03:35.The Labour Leader has been hn Sussex ahead of next week's local `nd

:03:36. > :03:38.European elections. Ed Miliband walked around Crawley and spoke to

:03:39. > :03:40.local traders. Labour's hophng to regain control of the borough

:03:41. > :03:44.council next week, from the Conservatives. Mr Miliband spoke at

:03:45. > :03:48.a rally and promised to build more homes in the South East.

:03:49. > :03:51.It's a massive issue here at Crawley, it's a massive isste right

:03:52. > :03:54.across the region. It's Labour that is saying we are going to btild more

:03:55. > :03:57.homes and make sure they ard affordable homes. All part of

:03:58. > :04:01.tackling what I think is thd biggest issue our country faces, thd Cost of

:04:02. > :04:04.Living Crisis and the fact that so many people feel they can't get on

:04:05. > :04:07.in Britain any more. And a reminder that tomorrow, Peter

:04:08. > :04:13.Henley will be chairing a Etropean election debate with candid`tes from

:04:14. > :04:17.the five main parties. That's live from Basingstoke from 11.

:04:18. > :04:23.Good evening. We do have sole more warm sunshine to come tomorrow,

:04:24. > :04:26.tonight remaining fine and dry. A bit of cloud here and there, but

:04:27. > :04:30.some clear skies in most pl`ces through the night with light winds.

:04:31. > :04:33.We have a quiet night, all hn all, with temperatures no lower, for many

:04:34. > :04:36.places in`between nine and 02 degrees. First thing tomorrow, we

:04:37. > :04:40.will see some decent sunshine through the morning and somd cloud

:04:41. > :04:43.in the afternoon. Essentially, another fine and dry and warm day

:04:44. > :04:48.tomorrow, with highs of arotnd 1 degrees. On Monday we will keep the

:04:49. > :04:50.warmth, with one or two isolated showers. It will become mord

:04:51. > :04:59.unsettled from Tuesday onwards. That's all from us for now. More on

:05:00. > :05:00.the BBC News website. We're back tomorrow at 6.50pm. Until then, bye

:05:01. > :05:15.for now. Have a lovely evenhng. Good evening. Who needs an expensive

:05:16. > :05:21.holiday? Today at 24 degrees, Suffolk was warmer than Ibiza and

:05:22. > :05:23.Crete. There was lots of warm sunshine to be found across England

:05:24. > :05:28.and Wales. Of course, that hasn t been the story everywhere. Cooler

:05:29. > :05:30.and cloudier and much wetter weather across Scotland and Northern

:05:31. > :05:34.Ireland. More rain for western Scotland and the Northern Isles

:05:35. > :05:37.tonight. Rain spreading further into Northern Ireland too. Some of it

:05:38. > :05:42.will be heavy at times. Elsewhere, a dry night and warm. Lows of 13 or 14

:05:43. > :05:45.degrees. More rain to come, though, for both the North West of Scotland

:05:46. > :05:50.and Northern Ireland on Sunday. Hopefully, it will ease off a little

:05:51. > :05:53.across western Scotland later in the day. It will stay damp and chilly

:05:54. > :05:57.here and for Northern Ireland as well. Grey skies and more rain than

:05:58. > :06:01.we have seen certainly today. Eastern and southern Scotland should

:06:02. > :06:06.stay dry and for England and Wales, aside from a few patches of shallo

:06:07. > :06:09.mist, early morning fog, really the sun's only job on Sunday after

:06:10. > :06:10.burning that off is to get
