:00:17. > :00:19.a second man is arrested for murder as police still search

:00:20. > :00:25.Anger over the demolition of beach huts ` as owners are told they'll

:00:26. > :00:47.Lambert leaves Saints for Liverpool as a ?4 million deal is struck.

:00:48. > :00:51.And the house full of history ` hidden away in Hampshire ` we step

:00:52. > :01:20.A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Detectives are

:01:21. > :01:25.searching for six addresses in the hunt. A statement from her teenage

:01:26. > :01:33.daughter who last saw her at home was read to the media today. Our

:01:34. > :01:39.reporter reports. A conscientious nurse who never let anyone down,

:01:40. > :01:44.some of the words of the 18`year`old daughter. A statement from her was

:01:45. > :01:49.read by Dorset Police. We have not seen our month since Friday night

:01:50. > :01:54.when she came home. The last time we saw her, she looked happy and

:01:55. > :01:58.smiling. She is loving and supporting. My mother has never gone

:01:59. > :02:01.missing before. This is really out of character and I am really

:02:02. > :02:06.worried. I really miss and just want a home. Mum, if you are safe and

:02:07. > :02:12.just want to get away, let us know you are OK. If anyone knows where my

:02:13. > :02:18.money is, please tell the police. She has not been seen since Friday

:02:19. > :02:23.evening last week when she left work at the hospital. She returned home

:02:24. > :02:27.where she briefly saw her daughter. Detectives were today continuing the

:02:28. > :02:33.search of the property and two other properties nearby. This afternoon,

:02:34. > :02:38.police revealed an additional relocations were also being

:02:39. > :02:47.searched. We have no trace of her, no movement, no contact, and it is

:02:48. > :02:54.because of the last sighting that we are happy that there are grounds to

:02:55. > :03:01.believe she has come to some harm. 26`year`old man and another man

:03:02. > :03:07.remaining on suspicion murder. Police were given additional time to

:03:08. > :03:11.question him. Both are said to be known to the woman. Police are also

:03:12. > :03:19.searching for this Ford van, potentially seen heading towards

:03:20. > :03:24.Watford on Saturday morning. That has featured as part of our enquiry

:03:25. > :03:28.throughout, and we are very interested for anyone to come

:03:29. > :03:32.forward with any knowledge of that ran. Dorset Police have also

:03:33. > :03:36.launched a number of appeals to the public and are asking anyone who has

:03:37. > :03:42.seen something suspicious to get in touch. Anyone who knows anything

:03:43. > :03:45.about any vehicles connected to the addresses should also get in touch

:03:46. > :03:51.and if anyone sees any vehicles parked unattended near the six

:03:52. > :03:52.addresses should get in touch with Dorset Police.

:03:53. > :03:56.A jury in the trial of a woman accused of causing the death by

:03:57. > :03:59.careless driving of an 82`year`old lollipop man has been discharged.

:04:00. > :04:02.23 year old Lauren Paul was driving a Nissan Micra that collided with

:04:03. > :04:05.Ray Elsemore in Waterlooville, near to Queens Inclosure Primary School.

:04:06. > :04:08.The crown prosecution service will now consider if it wants to press

:04:09. > :04:16.Police are hunting a violent robber who's on the run from

:04:17. > :04:21.Simon Rhodes Butler had been jailed for seven years for a robbery

:04:22. > :04:31.Officers say a week long search has found no trace of him.

:04:32. > :04:33.As Joe Campbell reports, this latest in a series

:04:34. > :04:36.of such cases has led some to question whether sites like Ford are

:04:37. > :04:42.being used for prisoners who should be in far more secure prisons.

:04:43. > :04:52.This is the face of the second prisoner that Ford admitted it has

:04:53. > :04:58.lost track of this week. Days after Simon Rhodes Butler had absconded,

:04:59. > :05:04.another man was part way through a life sentence for firearm offences.

:05:05. > :05:08.This probation worker says that despite that, open prisons remain

:05:09. > :05:14.the best way to help inmates return to society. 84,000 people are

:05:15. > :05:20.imprisoned, and 3000 of them all life prisoners. All but 49 of them

:05:21. > :05:24.will be released at some point. You cannot keep them in for a long time

:05:25. > :05:28.and then kick them out on the streets. It is a gradual process

:05:29. > :05:35.like when you wean someone off the drugs. That is what open prisons are

:05:36. > :05:40.good at. Whitehall says cases like that of Michael Wheatley, who was

:05:41. > :05:46.given a fresh life term yesterday, are extremely rare. High`profile

:05:47. > :05:54.disappearances are evidence of deeper problems to some. The

:05:55. > :05:57.government will say that absconding prisoners are at their lowest rate

:05:58. > :06:03.but clearly there are prisoners with an appalling custodial history who

:06:04. > :06:08.should not be in open editions. That view chimes with many outside the

:06:09. > :06:13.prison system. We should keep them in prison. They are walking around

:06:14. > :06:18.town, it is very wrong. We should not lock them up for ever. Ministers

:06:19. > :06:20.will have to answer critics who said the closure of sites like Reading

:06:21. > :06:23.and Dorchester means open prisons will have to take people they were

:06:24. > :06:27.never designed for. Two men have appeared

:06:28. > :06:30.in court charged with the murder 35 year old Choudhry Zishan was

:06:31. > :06:34.attacked outside his family's A post`mortem examination found

:06:35. > :06:38.he died of head injuries. 22 year old Jonathon McKinley

:06:39. > :06:41.and his brother Samuel, who's 25 ` both of no fixed address `

:06:42. > :06:44.will next appear before A pilot has appeared in court

:06:45. > :06:48.charged with the manslaughter of a former royal marine who died

:06:49. > :06:51.in a biplane crash in Dorset. Scott Hoyle was at the controls

:06:52. > :06:55.of the Tiger Moth when it crashed His passenger, Orlando Rogers,

:06:56. > :06:59.was airlifted to hospital where he Mr Hoyle, seen here at a previous

:07:00. > :07:03.hearing, appeared at Winchester Plans have been put forward to

:07:04. > :07:12.demolish more than 100 Many were battered and severely

:07:13. > :07:16.bruised by the storms in February. The council says it will pay to

:07:17. > :07:19.demolish them, but it's the owners that will have

:07:20. > :07:23.to pay for them to be rebuilt. They want the chance to repair

:07:24. > :07:26.their own beach huts and are angry that they could lose their,

:07:27. > :07:40.home away from home, by the sea. The Valentine's Day storms were the

:07:41. > :07:46.worst that Milford had seen for years. Many of the beach huts were

:07:47. > :07:50.damaged or destroyed. We heard about the cafe being evacuated and we came

:07:51. > :07:53.down the next day with our hearts in our mouths, not knowing what we

:07:54. > :07:59.would find. The devastation was incredible. A survey teams them no

:08:00. > :08:03.longer fit for purpose and now the council proposes to demolish them

:08:04. > :08:08.but the owners of the beach huts say they want to do their own repairs.

:08:09. > :08:12.The problem is that the council do not allow us access to our beach

:08:13. > :08:21.huts to get in to repair them if they need it. There are other beach

:08:22. > :08:29.hut owners who are supported by extracts from the survey. Beach hut

:08:30. > :08:35.68, the door is missing but no other problems. Beach hut 67, doors and

:08:36. > :08:43.panels are gone but otherwise no problems. The problem the council

:08:44. > :08:47.has is the asbestos in the roofs and as you can see, the concrete is

:08:48. > :08:53.corroding and it is affecting the future of all of these hut. They

:08:54. > :08:56.have deteriorated significantly and we have concerns that the

:08:57. > :09:00.deterioration is now starting to make the huts unsafe so we have to

:09:01. > :09:05.balance the views of the owners to make sure that it is accessible and

:09:06. > :09:14.safe for members of the public who want to use the beach. The Beach Hut

:09:15. > :09:17.Association is not convinced. They are likely to be repairable and

:09:18. > :09:22.everyone who has looked at them says they are repairable. The council say

:09:23. > :09:28.they are concerned about safety. They would say that. Some of their

:09:29. > :09:33.safety issues are convenient prop to support a case that is weak. The

:09:34. > :09:38.council will have to find ?150,000 to demolish the huts. The emotional

:09:39. > :09:42.cost to the owners is immeasurable. A cyclist from Havant sustained

:09:43. > :09:44.serious head injuries The 23 year old man,

:09:45. > :09:48.who's not been named, was cycling along Lansdowne Road in

:09:49. > :09:52.Hove at half past seven yesterday He was airlifted to

:09:53. > :09:55.Southampton General Hospital. A popular shopping centre in Bordon

:09:56. > :09:58.is preparing to reopen this weekend after it was devastated

:09:59. > :10:01.by a fire four years ago. The Country Market houses

:10:02. > :10:04.a variety of businesses which have been trading in an old hop`picking

:10:05. > :10:07.barn during the rebuilding work. It's taken almost

:10:08. > :10:10.a year to re`build and will open to Still to come

:10:11. > :10:15.in this evening's South Today... We have the latest on Saints'

:10:16. > :10:24.transfer news. A week from today will be

:10:25. > :10:27.the 70th anniversary of D`Day Planning

:10:28. > :10:30.for the invasion was centered The supreme allied

:10:31. > :10:39.commander, American General Dwight Eisenhower spent

:10:40. > :10:41.crucial few days there To this day there is a piece

:10:42. > :10:45.of history directly connected with the invasion still on show `

:10:46. > :10:48.the giant map on I went to Southwick

:10:49. > :11:11.House to find out more. A private House in Hampshire, but

:11:12. > :11:23.over 70 years, she has given up more of her secrets and the role she

:11:24. > :11:28.played in the day. `` D`day. This is the map room. It is extraordinary.

:11:29. > :11:38.The red lines are the coastal route that were used for the invasion

:11:39. > :11:42.troop who were joining the convoy. You can see the circle that is

:11:43. > :11:47.called Piccadilly Circus. Because it is so busy? Yes. They would come

:11:48. > :11:51.down and clear the minesweepers and it extended all the way to Norway.

:11:52. > :11:57.Give me sense of what this room would have been like. What was the

:11:58. > :12:02.tension like? What with the atmosphere like and how many people

:12:03. > :12:10.were there? 30 or 40 people and lots of comings and goings. Noisy? Yes.

:12:11. > :12:21.And do not forget that in those days, everybody was smoking with

:12:22. > :12:29.their pipes. There was a fork. `` fog. Could such a plan be done

:12:30. > :12:45.today? No. Striking a blow for freedom that will live in history.

:12:46. > :12:49.There are 100 battleships. My father remembers the tanks. All of that

:12:50. > :12:55.sort of thing. Aircraft, thousands upon thousands of aircraft. And the

:12:56. > :13:02.fighting spirit. We still have it, of course, but not on this scale. We

:13:03. > :13:06.could not do it now. We are bringing together air forces, airborne

:13:07. > :13:12.forces, naval forces, you have a plan overlaying the whole thing, and

:13:13. > :13:20.the whole question of timing, and how to get across the Channel? What

:13:21. > :13:24.about the weather? The stormy conditions at the time reflected the

:13:25. > :13:27.mood at the time amongst weather forecasters who could not agree.

:13:28. > :13:36.Eisenhower took the advice of one man, Group Captain James Stagg. It

:13:37. > :13:41.was difficult to see the man with his head on one side, staring,

:13:42. > :13:50.waiting to hear what the forecast would be. There were going to go the

:13:51. > :14:01.day before? Yes, they postponed. Eisenhower postponed for 24 hours.

:14:02. > :14:04.Stack saw a window of 24 hours? Yes. Eisenhower made a decision in this

:14:05. > :14:11.room which was the likely at this time. Did he take long to make the

:14:12. > :14:16.decision? Witnesses say it was about five minutes and after five

:14:17. > :14:24.minutes, it would have seemed like a lifetime. This is the note that

:14:25. > :14:28.Stagg sent. He thanks the hordes of war. That makes the hairs on the

:14:29. > :14:36.back of my neck stand up. Much more

:14:37. > :14:39.on the D Day anniversary coming up next week on South Today, with

:14:40. > :14:41.fascinating features, and telling We'll also be in France

:14:42. > :14:46.as the 70th anniversary is marked. And later in tonight's programme,

:14:47. > :14:48.we'll be live in a Hampshire town as it marks the

:14:49. > :14:58.anniversary in a very special way. Onto sport now and it's been another

:14:59. > :15:01.turbulent 24 hours for Southampton In the week where Saints lost their

:15:02. > :15:08.manager, star striker Rickie Lambert looks set to follow Mauricio

:15:09. > :15:12.Pochettino out of St Mary's. Tony's here with all the sport `

:15:13. > :15:24.Tony is Lambert just There is some inevitability about

:15:25. > :15:25.all of this. Southampton finished eighth in the league. Their stock is

:15:26. > :15:30.high, perhaps too high. This move something of a surprise

:15:31. > :15:35.breaking over the last 24 hours. Tonight he'll be a Southampton

:15:36. > :15:38.player when he steps out at Wembley Tomorrow he'll be a Liverpool

:15:39. > :15:41.striker almost two decades after being released by them

:15:42. > :15:44.as a schoolboy. Saints agreed a fee in the region

:15:45. > :15:47.of 4 million pounds plus add ons It's the latest step in

:15:48. > :15:52.a remarkable career for a player who featured for the likes of Stockport,

:15:53. > :15:55.Rochdale and Bristol Rovers ` Lambert scored on his Saints' debut

:15:56. > :16:00.against Northampton in 2009 He was promoted with Saints

:16:01. > :16:05.in consecutive seasons in 2011 So with Lambert gone, the fear for

:16:06. > :16:09.Southampton fans is "who's next?" In fact the price of relative

:16:10. > :16:12.success is that virtually the At the back, talks to sell Luke Shaw

:16:13. > :16:21.to Manchester United continued today,

:16:22. > :16:23.Saints have turned down an initial bid but United are ready to up the

:16:24. > :16:32.ante for the England international. Other members of the back four who

:16:33. > :16:36.are targets` Dejan Lovren could follow Lambert to Liverpool,

:16:37. > :16:39.In midfield Adam Lallana is poised to jon the Reds as well, although

:16:40. > :16:43.there's haggling over the fee. Victor Wanyama's spoken of a desire

:16:44. > :16:46.to play in the Champions League, while Morgan Schneiderlin has been

:16:47. > :16:49.linked with Liverpool and Arsenal. With Lambert gone up front,

:16:50. > :16:52.Jay Rodriguez is linked with a move to join Mauricio Pochettino

:16:53. > :16:56.at Spurs, and fans will take little consolation from the fact that bad

:16:57. > :16:59.boy Dani Osvaldo is due back The reality is Saints will hope to

:17:00. > :17:06.hold onto most of this group ` particularly if they can steady

:17:07. > :17:09.the ship with a new manager ` Here's what the most successful

:17:10. > :17:14.Southampton boss in history has Eighth in the premiership is good

:17:15. > :17:26.but they Eighth in the premiership is good

:17:27. > :17:33.but they should have kept them together and added to it. If Lambert

:17:34. > :17:36.goes, and people like that, I am a bit worried about it.

:17:37. > :17:52.Here's what some of you have been telling me on social media today.

:17:53. > :17:55.Think he will surprise #lfc fans with assists, goals apps" Simon

:17:56. > :17:59.Thorpe "in a sea of negativity, I am clinging to the oar of hope!

:18:00. > :18:03.Hoping Ronald Koeman will be announced to steer rudderless ship

:18:04. > :18:05.through stormy waters" Sarah Brewer echoes Lawrie McMenemy's thoughts

:18:06. > :18:08."Can only hope the club have a grand master plan/manager,

:18:09. > :19:43.years ago but is now representing England in the European

:19:44. > :19:51.Championships in Italy. Portsmouth has not had a great time in football

:19:52. > :19:55.but they have really got themselves out of that and this will be a boost

:19:56. > :20:02.as well, I hope. Something for the city to get hold of and make the

:20:03. > :20:09.city proud of us, really. 25 teams will be there next week including

:20:10. > :20:15.last year's winners, Moscow. Portsmouth which includes

:20:16. > :20:21.confessional players are ready. The Portsmouth team have a lot of lads

:20:22. > :20:29.who are excellent. We have got a strong team. Not daunted, we are

:20:30. > :20:34.used to be space. It is just nice that our own club are playing in the

:20:35. > :20:39.competition. I guess some of the lads that have not played beach

:20:40. > :20:43.soccer will be nervous but once we get there the atmosphere will be

:20:44. > :20:49.great. The teams start their quest for glory next Tuesday in Italy,

:20:50. > :20:55.against the Swiss side. Good luck to them! Nice sunshine. The weather

:20:56. > :20:57.coming up in a moment but let's return to events taking place to

:20:58. > :21:00.mark the 70th anniversary of D`day. One town

:21:01. > :21:02.in Hampshire is commemorating it The whole town of Emsworth is coming

:21:03. > :21:07.together to put on a series of events to pay tribute and remember

:21:08. > :21:11.the events of seventy years ago in what's been described as the biggest

:21:12. > :21:25.creative event ever staged there. Yes, it is such an evocative sound

:21:26. > :21:30.of the 1940s, and as a town, they are going to town to commemorate

:21:31. > :21:35.D`day. There are many events planned, from readings to play to

:21:36. > :21:39.concerts. They are even projecting wartime images onto the side of

:21:40. > :21:46.Lloyds Bank at night, and that is made possible by a grant from the

:21:47. > :21:50.National Lottery. In the lead up to D`day, this was a major hub of

:21:51. > :22:01.activity. The Canadians were billeted here just up the road. We

:22:02. > :22:07.had the Americans as well. Just ahead of that invasion, there were

:22:08. > :22:11.lots of men. Pupils at the Park Community School have been

:22:12. > :22:16.interviewing men about their time is here. They have produced a DVD which

:22:17. > :22:25.is available in local shops. There was lots of activity and the road

:22:26. > :22:32.was very narrow in those days and lay`by is what put in and they were

:22:33. > :22:37.full of military vehicles. My father took me to the top of the hill and

:22:38. > :22:41.when we looked up the Solent, it was packed tight with shipping of all

:22:42. > :22:48.shapes and sizes. In fact, there were so much shipping you could not

:22:49. > :22:53.see the water. A specially commissioned play is being put on

:22:54. > :22:57.here, following three local families in the lead up to D`day. The first

:22:58. > :23:02.performance is tonight. They are just rehearsing at the moment. With

:23:03. > :23:08.me is the artistic director, Mark Ringwood. What would people see

:23:09. > :23:13.tonight? It will be one hour and a quarter of play, depicting the

:23:14. > :23:18.stories of families going up to D`day. Most people do not know what

:23:19. > :23:23.went on. 30,000 people lived in this borough but now there are 130,000.

:23:24. > :23:31.It was a huge change to the town, wasn't it? 20,000 troops camped in

:23:32. > :23:37.the words, camouflaged. Landing craft were made down by the harbour

:23:38. > :23:44.and on Hayling Island is as well. A fantastic story to be told people

:23:45. > :23:48.are gradually discovering this. The play takes place on Friday, Saturday

:23:49. > :23:56.and Sunday this week, and next week as well. From a very musical

:23:57. > :24:00.Emsworth, where everybody is looking forward to the play. They are here

:24:01. > :24:06.very early! They want the best seat in the House, Tom! Thank you. There

:24:07. > :24:10.will be a lot of events in a lot of places. Now for the weather. What

:24:11. > :24:18.will be like this weekend? Sarah is here. Not too bad. Not wall`to`wall

:24:19. > :24:21.sunshine but, you know, yeah, not too bad. Grey skies for many of us

:24:22. > :24:35.today. Here is Christ key today. A very busy Christchurch Quay today

:24:36. > :24:38.Thanks to Jane Pearce for that one A great shot of a highland cow

:24:39. > :24:42.on The Moors near Bishop's Waltham. Sue Pratt took that one And a sporty

:24:43. > :24:51.weather picture to finish on ` `` for most of us, one or two

:24:52. > :24:55.showers, slow moving across parts of Dorset. It looks like they are just

:24:56. > :25:01.about to fade away so we will see drier conditions. Elsewhere, staying

:25:02. > :25:05.dry with cloudy conditions for most of the region. Eastern parts will

:25:06. > :25:11.see a few breaks developing here. That's when we see temperatures

:25:12. > :25:15.responding at nine or ten in the breaks of cloud. 11 or 12 where

:25:16. > :25:21.there is cloud. We start tomorrow with a cloudy affair but there will
