:00:00. > :00:12.A woman's body is discovered in this flat six years

:00:13. > :00:25.She was such a nice lady and to think that after five years that

:00:26. > :00:27.nobody has missed her, that is so sad.

:00:28. > :00:29.Not in the public interest ` a family's anger

:00:30. > :00:32.at the decision not to prosdcute a care worker for assault.

:00:33. > :00:34.Sniff and tell ` why police think they are only scratching

:00:35. > :00:50.The cricket international ghving a helping hand to a hockey player

:00:51. > :01:03.A group of residents in Bournemouth have been talking about thehr

:01:04. > :01:05.feelings of guilt after discovering that one of their neighbours had

:01:06. > :01:10.lain dead in her flat for shx years without being noticed.

:01:11. > :01:12.They had thought the woman, who was believed to have bedn

:01:13. > :01:32.Two days ago, a bailiff, an estate agent and two locksmiths cale to

:01:33. > :01:35.this flat in Bournemouth. They managed to break into one of the

:01:36. > :01:37.ground floor flats and inside discovered the body of an elderly

:01:38. > :01:39.woman. Neighbours say she was Anne Leitrim,

:01:40. > :01:53.and they're deeply shocked It is horrifying. Why has nobody

:01:54. > :01:58.noticed? We thought that shd had moved out, her car disappeared. We

:01:59. > :02:06.thought that the lady had moved out and that was it. It is frightening.

:02:07. > :02:11.I haven't shut `` stopped shaking. We feel so guilty that we dhd not

:02:12. > :02:14.knock on the door or try and get into the flat or report it to

:02:15. > :02:15.somebody but we genuinely thought that she had moved away.

:02:16. > :02:18.John Stanley was asked to go into the flat to identify the body.

:02:19. > :02:23.He told me that had been a very unpleasant experiencd.

:02:24. > :02:31.As I walked down to the bottom of the bed, I could see a pair of feet

:02:32. > :02:40.hanging out of the side of the bed. Now, two days afterwards, the shock

:02:41. > :02:46.does kick in. It still happdns. It is a shocking tragedy for all of us.

:02:47. > :02:48.She was such a nice lady and to think that after five years nobody

:02:49. > :02:50.had missed her. That is so sad. A charity

:02:51. > :03:03.which supports the elderly says many They do not go out at all, so it is

:03:04. > :03:09.quite common for older people to be living somewhere and for people not

:03:10. > :03:11.to see them. But I have two say this length of time is quitd

:03:12. > :03:11.extreme. Dorset Police say the death is not

:03:12. > :03:14.being treated as suspicious The man who runs Broadmoor Hospital

:03:15. > :03:22.has apologised to former st`ff and patients who were sexually

:03:23. > :03:26.abused at the unit by Jimmy Savile. The BBC DJ had free reign

:03:27. > :03:30.at the high security hospit`l for almost 30 years and the full detail

:03:31. > :03:33.of his activities emerged as part of a series of reports investigating

:03:34. > :03:40.his links with NHS organisations. Earlier,

:03:41. > :03:56.our health correspondent explained There were several cases of sexual

:03:57. > :04:02.abuse their and, of course, Jimmy Savile had keys given to hil that

:04:03. > :04:06.allowed him access to parts of the hospital and two patients whthout

:04:07. > :04:11.people knowing. We also unddrstand that he used this Access to be able

:04:12. > :04:15.to spy on women in bathrooms at the hospital. This is what the Health

:04:16. > :04:22.Secretary Jeremy Hunt had to say about that today.

:04:23. > :04:27.He was an opportunistic sextal offender at Broadmoor. The

:04:28. > :04:33.investigation concludes that five or more individuals were sexually

:04:34. > :04:36.abused by him there. Inexplhcably, Jimmy Savile was allowed to watch a

:04:37. > :04:41.few more patients as they stripped naked for bathing.

:04:42. > :04:44.What has the hospital said `bout that?

:04:45. > :04:51.They said that they had had complaints about `` from 11 people

:04:52. > :04:56.at Broadmoor. Two male and the rest were female. Some of those were

:04:57. > :05:04.under 18 years old. Today, the chief at Broadmoor gave a apology.

:05:05. > :05:08.I want to say for each of you who were abused, you have is shown

:05:09. > :05:13.strength and bravery at spe`king out now about these terrible effect ``

:05:14. > :05:19.events and I want to thank xou for providing the evidence. I know that

:05:20. > :05:27.my words cannot heal the injuries that Jimmy Savile has inflicted on

:05:28. > :05:31.you, but I can offer my sincere and heartfelt apologies on behalf of the

:05:32. > :05:36.health trust. There were two other reports today,

:05:37. > :05:43.one from Salisbury Hospital, where Jimmy Savile made inapproprhate

:05:44. > :05:51.comments to a nurse. Also at Portsmouth Hospital, where there was

:05:52. > :05:53.a complaint of abuse about ` 16`year`old patient while hd was

:05:54. > :05:56.unconscious, but it was found that that was unlikely to have h`ppened.

:05:57. > :05:58.The decision not to prosecute a carer who left

:05:59. > :06:00.a frail pensioner with dementia bruised after she was draggdd round

:06:01. > :06:03.her own flat has been descrhbed as unbelievable by a Berkshhre MP.

:06:04. > :06:06.Richard Benyon raised the c`se of his constituent Lottie Bttcher

:06:07. > :06:08.after the Attorney General backed prosecutors who'd said the case was

:06:09. > :06:17.Her family says the decision leaves other vulnerable people at risk

:06:18. > :06:20.Michael Butcher and his brother installed CCTV at their mother

:06:21. > :06:24.Lottie's home at her suggestion when she developed dementia.

:06:25. > :06:27.What he saw when a stand`in carer came to help her

:06:28. > :06:38.Lottie distressed by attempts to force her into the bathroom.

:06:39. > :06:41.At one stage she bit the carer but seeing her

:06:42. > :06:43.in such a distressed state, Michael says any professional should have

:06:44. > :06:50.stepped back rather than forcefully undressing the frail pensioner.

:06:51. > :06:59.I could not believe what I was seeing. I was very angry and I

:07:00. > :07:01.phoned the agency and they fired her on the spot. It has been allost a

:07:02. > :07:03.year trying to get this resolved. His mother was left with brtises,

:07:04. > :07:06.the family say But after initially saying no crime

:07:07. > :07:08.had been committed, the CPS changed its opinion,

:07:09. > :07:11.but still claimed a prosecution was In a statement to South

:07:12. > :07:27.Today they said: This week, what Lottie's MP

:07:28. > :07:41.termed an unbelievable decision Would you agree that as a society we

:07:42. > :07:42.should be completely intolerant of all attacks on honourable pdople

:07:43. > :07:48.with dementia? `` vulnerabld. Wherever he is, Michael still

:07:49. > :07:50.watches over his mother, but the lack of a criminal case he fears

:07:51. > :07:54.means her carer has not been stopped from working with other vulnerable

:07:55. > :07:56.people, after the government's disclosure

:07:57. > :08:11.and barring service refused to The system has completely f`iled. A

:08:12. > :08:16.carer has been judged by an MP and the CPS to be an abuser but that

:08:17. > :08:18.abuser is continuing to work with people. It has not worked.

:08:19. > :08:21.An undercover police motorcxclist died as a result of an accident

:08:22. > :08:25.PC Steve Rawson was killed when his motorbike collided with

:08:26. > :08:29.a car making an illegal turn out of a petrol station in Southampton.

:08:30. > :08:31.He'd been travelling at twice the speed limit

:08:32. > :08:50.The PC was travelling at spded, 90 miles an hour, when the acchdent

:08:51. > :08:55.happens. He was dressed in black on a black motorbike, working covertly.

:08:56. > :09:02.The inquest heard that he w`s expected to make ground. He collided

:09:03. > :09:06.with a car moving out of a petrol station and performing an illegal

:09:07. > :09:11.turn. The inquest said that it was an accidental death.

:09:12. > :09:19.This case has shone a light on the undercover world of policing. We

:09:20. > :09:25.have heard how motorcyclists who work undercover have the most

:09:26. > :09:28.dangerous job. The question is whether this accident will change

:09:29. > :09:33.the way that these officers are used.

:09:34. > :09:38.When any police officer is killed in any situation, I think it is right

:09:39. > :09:42.that the Constabulary and the police service looks at the circumstances

:09:43. > :09:45.and if there are any changes or learning that must come frol the

:09:46. > :09:49.situation, then that is what should be done.

:09:50. > :09:57.Hampshire Police at code th`t, saying that an internal revhew into

:09:58. > :10:03.safety is under way. His widow wept as the verdict was announced. They

:10:04. > :10:05.were recently married and h`ve three children. He was described `s an

:10:06. > :10:10.outstanding officer. A proposal to build a wind farm

:10:11. > :10:13.on a site in North Hampshird has Energy company TCI Renewablds wants

:10:14. > :10:16.to put up seven turbines Last night Basingstoke and

:10:17. > :10:30.Deane Borough Council voted to turn Still to come, we will have the

:10:31. > :10:35.details on the weather. It is all change. There will be

:10:36. > :10:40.thundery showers. I will have more later in the programme.

:10:41. > :10:44.It's one of the most clogged roads in the country but trying to find a

:10:45. > :10:47.solution to the problems of the A27 has been a headache for dec`des

:10:48. > :10:49.Today, there are renewed calls for action.

:10:50. > :10:52.The A27 is the main trunk road along the West Sussex coast.

:10:53. > :10:54.The Government is already committed to improvements at Chichestdr.

:10:55. > :10:56.Campaigners want the whole road to be a dual carriageway

:10:57. > :11:02.But road schemes aren't che`p and a proposed Worthing byp`ss was

:11:03. > :11:12.scrapped in 1996 because it would cost too mtch.

:11:13. > :11:21.Meeting in the past hour, btsiness leaders, local councils and MPs

:11:22. > :11:32.uniting to call for the govdrnment to accelerate improvements on the

:11:33. > :11:35.road map. Larry `` on the A27. Larry regularly makes deliveries on this

:11:36. > :11:41.road. Sometimes it is not possibld to get

:11:42. > :11:44.around. We have set times all the time. Certain deliveries, wd cannot

:11:45. > :11:54.get them out. This has been an everyday shght for

:11:55. > :12:01.A27 users for decades. Therd have been ideas proposed and rejdcted.

:12:02. > :12:09.This is where it all grinds to a halt. This is the start and the end

:12:10. > :12:12.of the belt bypass. Instead, the cars have to go on a single

:12:13. > :12:16.carriageway on the outskirts of the town.

:12:17. > :12:21.The engineering company says that the A27 is so bad that it h`s

:12:22. > :12:27.difficulties recruiting staff who live to the west of the basd. It is

:12:28. > :12:33.helping spearhead the road improvement campaign, citing

:12:34. > :12:38.additional benefits. There is traffic congestion, which

:12:39. > :12:41.affects are quality and people's quality of life. That road stops

:12:42. > :12:46.people from going on to othdr roads, and people will be able to

:12:47. > :12:55.spend less time in their cars queueing.

:12:56. > :13:00.However, Friends Of The Earth says that changing the road could affect

:13:01. > :13:06.the local park. Other organhsations say that the road could become a

:13:07. > :13:10.victim of its own success. People may decide to do trips by car

:13:11. > :13:16.that they would not have done before. If you remove block`ges you

:13:17. > :13:21.will increase traffic levels. The result of a government study

:13:22. > :13:22.into the improvements is expected in the autumn.

:13:23. > :13:25.I'm joined by the leader of West Sussex County Council Louise

:13:26. > :13:37.Goldsmith who been at the campaign launch in Worthing.

:13:38. > :13:44.This battle has been going on for decades. What is new about this

:13:45. > :13:49.campaign? The governments are looking at six

:13:50. > :13:53.and visibility schemes across the country, we are one of thosd

:13:54. > :13:56.schemes. We believe that thhs is the right time to gather everyone

:13:57. > :14:01.together and explain why we think it is important to have the jewel

:14:02. > :14:07.carriageway west to east and used to West.

:14:08. > :14:12.But what is new about this? We have heard this all before.

:14:13. > :14:17.I think it is reflected in the conversations this evening. This is

:14:18. > :14:23.a really united campaign. It is united across all the counchls,

:14:24. > :14:27.districts, and the MPs are `ll united. The businesses are very much

:14:28. > :14:31.united. We have had tremendous support and I am very grateful for

:14:32. > :14:36.the e`mails that we have had from businesses. There is a real unifying

:14:37. > :14:40.feel about this, people sayhng that it is their one chance to ptt the

:14:41. > :14:45.case and we will do it much better with one voice.

:14:46. > :14:49.I wonder why you have jumped the gun? The government have adlitted

:14:50. > :14:54.that it is a problem, they have started looking into it now. White

:14:55. > :14:59.do this now when they are looking into the problem in the auttmn?

:15:00. > :15:03.I think it is important, because the other people in those schemds will

:15:04. > :15:11.be doing similar things. We need to show the economic case for Sussex.

:15:12. > :15:16.We think that we have a really coherent voice, with the business

:15:17. > :15:21.case and the local case, evhdence of congestion and poor air quality

:15:22. > :15:25.Putting the case together. So we are doing it now is that we havd a

:15:26. > :15:30.really strong case to talk to the government about. We really mean to

:15:31. > :15:37.put a strong case, because this is our one opportunity to do it.

:15:38. > :15:39.Would you recognise the smell of cannabis?

:15:40. > :15:41.Thousands of people in Hampshire will be getting a scratch

:15:42. > :15:44.and sniff card delivered through their door from Crimestoppers

:15:45. > :15:47.from today to make them aware of how the drug smells.

:15:48. > :15:50.Police want more people to report suspicious smells to help them shut

:15:51. > :17:51.about Luka Shaw? Yes, the breaking news via our

:17:52. > :17:57.colleagues that Shaw is due to have a medical at Old Trafford bdfore a

:17:58. > :18:04.possible move to Majesty unhted It is not the news that many pdople who

:18:05. > :18:10.are fans of Southampton want to hear. `` to Manchester Unitdd. It is

:18:11. > :18:17.understood that the player had expressed a desire to leave the club

:18:18. > :18:22.due to the desire from Manchester. He is playing on Tuesday. Hd had

:18:23. > :18:30.been valued at around ?30 mhllion mark, but there has been no

:18:31. > :18:35.confirmation so far about the fee. If a player is having a medhcal it

:18:36. > :18:38.is usually because a deal h`s already been agreed. We will keep

:18:39. > :18:41.you up to date. Junior Stanislas turned

:18:42. > :18:43.down the chance to stay at Burnley and play in the Premier League

:18:44. > :18:46.in order to be reunited with Stanislas, who's also played

:18:47. > :18:49.for West Ham, has signed The winger could have signed

:18:50. > :18:53.a new deal at Burnley and had interest from other clubs,

:18:54. > :19:07.but is looking forward to fresh Definitely promotion would be

:19:08. > :19:13.something I would be looking for. The team is very ambitious, anything

:19:14. > :19:15.less than that would not be what the club is capable of achieving. It has

:19:16. > :19:22.to be promotion. Modern day sportsmen

:19:23. > :19:24.and women spend hours in tr`ining, but usually perfecting skills

:19:25. > :19:26.in their own sport. But sometimes a bit of cross sport

:19:27. > :19:29.coordination can help, parthcularly Last night Sussex wicketkeeper

:19:30. > :19:32.Matt Prior had a training sdssion with England hockey Maddie Hinch,

:19:33. > :19:44.this is how they got on. He takes the catch is that helps to

:19:45. > :19:52.win matches, she makes the final moves for the goal.

:19:53. > :20:01.You have two absorb the ball with your arms.

:20:02. > :20:06.Matt Prior has 231 tech `` Test match catches, but are the skills of

:20:07. > :20:12.a wicketkeeper transferable for a hockey goalkeeper?

:20:13. > :20:18.They need to be far more upright, guarding the top corners of the

:20:19. > :20:20.goal. If she can take maybe the footwork drills and improve that

:20:21. > :20:28.position, then I think that might help.

:20:29. > :20:34.Maddie Hinch is set to go to the Commonwealth Games next month.

:20:35. > :20:41.My catching is a little unorthodox. We usually packed it away. For me,

:20:42. > :20:46.it is about getting it away from the danger area.

:20:47. > :20:54.Supervising this session, the England wicketkeeper coach.

:20:55. > :21:01.We can help add things, we would not be taking anything away. Thhngs that

:21:02. > :21:07.could keep it more consistent. Their counterparts have strtggled as

:21:08. > :21:10.of late. Thinking outside of the box may be what they need.

:21:11. > :21:13.Hampshire are back at the top of the T20 blast southern group

:21:14. > :21:16.after a sixth win in eight latches in the competition last night.

:21:17. > :21:20.Michael Carberry hit a quickfire half century,

:21:21. > :21:29.Glamorgan looking on target to reach that target. And some fine bowling

:21:30. > :21:35.saw Hampshire home. They ard top of their group.

:21:36. > :21:42.And here is the weather. Thdre are some changes.

:21:43. > :21:50.Yes, many places seeing somd rain during the night. There will be a

:21:51. > :21:55.lot of dry weather as well this evening. There could be somd missed

:21:56. > :22:02.catches. The showers will move northwards. There could be some

:22:03. > :22:09.thunder overnight. Temperattres at 13 Celsius. These are the v`lues in

:22:10. > :22:14.the towns and cities, maybe in the countryside lower than that.

:22:15. > :22:19.Tomorrow will be cloudy, we will have a Met Office warning in force

:22:20. > :22:27.that has been issued today for thunderstorms that because cause

:22:28. > :22:31.flooding tomorrow and on Saturday. Soak the thunderstorms moving in

:22:32. > :22:36.from the south`west, torrential downpours in places. We will have

:22:37. > :22:43.some drier, brighter weather. There will be some bright spells hn

:22:44. > :22:51.between these showers. Not `s warm as it was today. Today had ` high of

:22:52. > :22:56.21 Celsius. Tomorrow night, the showers will gradually ease. Still

:22:57. > :23:01.the risk of the odd bundle storm. And we will see some drier, brighter

:23:02. > :23:06.conditions to start the day on Saturday with temperatures `t 1

:23:07. > :23:11.Celsius. So a dry start for much of the reason `` region on Sattrday. We

:23:12. > :23:18.will have unsettled weather because of the weather fronts will stop

:23:19. > :23:25.thunderstorms are a possibility In between, there will be some drier

:23:26. > :23:32.periods for some sunny spells. Many events this weekend, stch as

:23:33. > :23:40.the country fair. That is in Berkshire. There is a food show and

:23:41. > :23:49.a dog show. You may also want to attend the tank

:23:50. > :23:59.museum show, and there is a risk of a shower over the weekend. Tomorrow,

:24:00. > :24:07.we may see torrential downpours Tony wants his water being filled

:24:08. > :24:43.up. We will be back at the normal time tomorrow. Goodbye.

:24:44. > :24:45.Make the most of your weekend, wherever you are.

:24:46. > :24:51.Use the BBC Weather App to stay one step ahead of the weather.

:24:52. > :24:56.I saw you before and I thought you were so beautiful.

:24:57. > :25:00.I always thought love would come into my life.
