:00:08. > :00:10.Good evening. I'm Roger Finn with the news here in the south

:00:11. > :00:14.A mother from Dorset whose son died from a brain tumour has said

:00:15. > :00:18.much more needs to be done to make people aware of the symptoms.

:00:19. > :00:21.She says her son suffered from the fact his condition was not

:00:22. > :00:26.diagnosed faster, similar to Ashya King, the little boy from Portsmouth

:00:27. > :00:35.at the centre of a row over the best treatment for brain tulours.

:00:36. > :00:44.This was the boy two years `go at the age of 16. He died soon after

:00:45. > :00:48.from a brain tumour. Since then his mother Sacha has been on a crusade

:00:49. > :00:53.to raise awareness. We have got world`class specialists children's

:00:54. > :00:58.cancer services but we are not getting our children to thel in

:00:59. > :01:02.time. My son's Juma was reported to be the size of eight Satsum`. The

:01:03. > :01:07.surgery to remove something like that and then the radiation or the

:01:08. > :01:11.proton beam and then the chemotherapy in a child's brain is

:01:12. > :01:16.horrendous. If you can get the child there with awareness of the symptoms

:01:17. > :01:22.when it is the size of a pe`, that is going to make a massive

:01:23. > :01:25.difference. About 500 children each year are diagnosed with brahn

:01:26. > :01:30.tumours and about a quarter of those will die. They carry about the same

:01:31. > :01:35.risks to a child as meningitis. Symptoms include vomiting, headaches

:01:36. > :01:41.and abnormal eye movements. Sacha is a champion for the brain tulour

:01:42. > :01:46.charities campaign. She helps distribute symptom cards around the

:01:47. > :01:54.country but she is calling for more help from the government. If Jeremy

:01:55. > :02:00.Hunt says about this, peopld will think it is important. It whll just

:02:01. > :02:05.massively speed it up. It is taking too long from the bottom, b`sically.

:02:06. > :02:09.The Department of Health saxs it supports the campaign and h`s

:02:10. > :02:14.written to health boards and the Department for Education encouraging

:02:15. > :02:22.them to get behind it. Now Sacha hopes the publicity will le`d to

:02:23. > :02:27.some good. Three children h`ve died since the Ashya King story has come

:02:28. > :02:30.out. Let's hope something good can come out of that horror.

:02:31. > :02:33.Police on the Isle of Wight have described an alleged sexual assault

:02:34. > :02:36.against an 11`year`old girl as a rare but very serious inchdent.

:02:37. > :02:38.It happened at around 11 o'clock yesterday morning.

:02:39. > :02:41.The victim and her family wdre in the picnic area of

:02:42. > :02:44.Fort Victoria, near Yarmouth, when she was approached by ` man.

:02:45. > :02:47.He allegedly sexually assaulted her and then walked away.

:02:48. > :02:50.Officers are appealing for witnesses.

:02:51. > :02:53.A remembrance service has t`ken place in Southampton

:02:54. > :02:57.for a couple who died when they were on holiday seeing family in India.

:02:58. > :02:59.Roopesh and Kavita Nawarkhale were killed last month

:03:00. > :03:02.when the coach they were tr`velling in crashed in the Punjab.

:03:03. > :03:04.Their nine`year`old daughter remains in hospital for treatment

:03:05. > :03:19.People from all over the colmunity, colleagues, friends and famhly, have

:03:20. > :03:25.organised this multi`faith remembrance service basically to

:03:26. > :03:32.remember the good things thdy did. The best people, they were. And also

:03:33. > :03:33.to pray for their daughter's health, who is currently in

:03:34. > :03:36.hospital. A group of residents in Reading who

:03:37. > :03:39.have been plagued by a long term project to renew water pipes

:03:40. > :03:42.in the city centre have fin`lly The residents of Vachel Road have

:03:43. > :03:47.endured noise from machinerx and trucks, as well as dust

:03:48. > :03:51.from skips filled with spoil. The work by Thames Water has

:03:52. > :03:53.been going on since April. Yesterday, residents met

:03:54. > :04:05.the contractors and the loc`l MP. This site has been here for months

:04:06. > :04:12.now and we have had all the skips their and a lot of rubbish. The work

:04:13. > :04:16.continues on bank holidays, weekends, very noisy. The whole

:04:17. > :04:21.summer, we could not open otr windows. Contractors are making in

:04:22. > :04:25.of promises about improvements in the future and they will thhs site

:04:26. > :04:29.out in the middle of October at the latest. There is progress btt I am

:04:30. > :04:31.going to keep a close eye on it and make sure the council improve their

:04:32. > :04:35.surveillance of what is going on. Some football for you now,

:04:36. > :04:37.and League Two table`toppers Burton Albion proved too strong

:04:38. > :04:39.for Portsmouth today. Pompey fell behind after just

:04:40. > :04:42.two minutes with this goal. Midfielder Jed Wallace had ` rare

:04:43. > :04:44.first`half chance but shot wide A second goal eased Burton to

:04:45. > :05:04.a fifth successive home win. We finally saw the sunny spdlls

:05:05. > :05:09.after all the cloud first thing It is going to be quite a cold night.

:05:10. > :05:17.The temperature is taking a nosedive overnight. We will see tempdratures

:05:18. > :05:23.in single figures in rural spots. Also a touch of fog forming

:05:24. > :05:27.overnight. The mist and fog should be fairly short lived and wd should

:05:28. > :05:33.see some sunny spells through the morning and temperatures should

:05:34. > :05:38.recover nicely. As a result, a warm day with temperatures around where

:05:39. > :05:42.they should be at this time of year. We will keep the settled we`ther

:05:43. > :05:44.into next week with plenty of sunny spells. The wind will pick tp

:05:45. > :05:56.towards the end of the week. That is all from us for the moment.

:05:57. > :05:58.There is plenty more on the website. We are back at around 10:30pm.

:05:59. > :06:11.Goodbye. Good evening. Most of us had a

:06:12. > :06:15.lovely end to the weekend but the exception was the north-east of

:06:16. > :06:17.Scotland. It was cold, wet and windy but the low responsible is now

:06:18. > :06:21.moving away and we have high pressure moving its way in from the

:06:22. > :06:24.West. The pressure is rising all the while over the next few days which

:06:25. > :06:28.will settle things down nicely and it will be dry pretty much all week.

:06:29. > :06:33.But the forecasting headache will be the amount of cloud. The next few

:06:34. > :06:35.hours will still be pretty wet and windy in the north-east of Scotland

:06:36. > :06:40.but through the small hours the ring becomes quite liked and patchy.

:06:41. > :06:45.Elsewhere it is a dry night, a few patches of low cloud here and there

:06:46. > :06:48.but for many it is a night of clear spells, and major towns and cities

:06:49. > :06:53.will be a degree either side of double figures but in rural areas

:06:54. > :06:56.temperatures could reach as low as one degree. Northern Scotland will

:06:57. > :07:00.be cloudy and breezy, not much Rangers peak of but they will be

:07:01. > :07:03.some. The central lowlands will see a decent start the day and so will

:07:04. > :07:06.Northern Ireland, and the rest of England and Wales there will be a

:07:07. > :07:10.few patches of cloud but for many will be a bright start of the day

:07:11. > :07:12.with plenty of sunshine. The temperatures in rural areas will

:07:13. > :07:13.pick up pretty
