:01:13. > :01:14.because ambulance staff sent to help her failed to use
:01:15. > :01:20.a simple defibrillator to restore her heartbeat.
:01:21. > :01:23.Lilly May Page-Bowden died from natural causes, but today,
:01:24. > :01:28.the coroner recorded that her death was contributed to by neglect.
:01:29. > :01:30.Her family say they've finally been given answers
:01:31. > :01:35.Allen Sinclair was at the hearing, and joins us from outside
:01:36. > :01:46.It was here where Lilly May collapsed, as she ran out of school
:01:47. > :01:50.as normal at the end of the day to meet her mum and nan,
:01:51. > :01:55.What nobody knew then was that she had a genetic
:01:56. > :01:58.Two of the mums here that afternoon were trained nurses.
:01:59. > :02:05.They carried out chest compressions while they waited for an ambulance.
:02:06. > :02:07.But that's when mistakes started happening.
:02:08. > :02:09.The first paramedic wasted precious seconds carrying
:02:10. > :02:16.And then, once inside, took some minutes more
:02:17. > :02:17.before connecting her to a defibrillator.
:02:18. > :02:19.Crucially, the paramedic then misinterpreted the information
:02:20. > :02:21.the machine gave her, and chose not to use it
:02:22. > :02:28.Other medical staff arrived afterwards also failed to spot
:02:29. > :02:33.that she could and should have been given an electric shock.
:02:34. > :02:36.Had Lilly May been defibrillated within 15 minutes of her collapse,
:02:37. > :02:39.she would have survived and would still be with us.
:02:40. > :02:41.The coroner has found that Lilly May's death was contributed
:02:42. > :02:48.to by neglect on the part of South Central Ambulance Service,
:02:49. > :02:52.and we hope that everyone involved in this inquest will have learned
:02:53. > :02:55.from these events and that a child will not die
:02:56. > :03:04.again in the future for want of defibrillation.
:03:05. > :03:20.In response, South Central Ambulance Service have released a statement...
:03:21. > :03:28.It is also worth paying tribute to Lilly May's family, who have tried
:03:29. > :03:34.to get something positive out of this tragedy, as fundraising for
:03:35. > :03:39.this area and vying much-needed equipment for each school. Thank

:03:42. > :03:44.A woman from Southsea in Hampshire has died after being attacked,
:03:45. > :03:46.alongside her husband, by a gang of robbers
:03:47. > :03:49.Sue Howarth and Robert Lynn were tied up and tortured
:03:50. > :03:51.at their farm at Dullstroom about 160 miles north
:03:52. > :03:54.east of Johannesburg. They'd moved to area some years ago.
:03:55. > :03:56.Our reporter Sophia Seth has been following the story
:03:57. > :03:58.and joins me now. What more do we know?
:03:59. > :04:01.Well, Sally, the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday.
:04:02. > :04:03.I've been speaking to the local paper, who've interviewed

:04:10. > :04:13.The intruders then tied them up, covered their heads
:04:14. > :04:19.Robert was hit on the head with a gun, cut with knives
:04:20. > :04:23.He received severe burns to his stomach.
:04:24. > :04:26.It's unclear the extent of Sue's injuries,
:04:27. > :04:29.but there are reports locally that she received gunshot wounds.
:04:30. > :04:31.Sue, who was 64, died in hospital on Tuesday.
:04:32. > :04:33.Yesterday, a memorial service was held for her.
:04:34. > :04:38.It was attended by her friends and members of the local community.
:04:39. > :04:44.There were some flowers in memory of Sue.
:04:45. > :04:47.The community is in uproar, especially because Sue
:04:48. > :04:50.was a very well-loved woman and she was passionate about
:04:51. > :04:57.they've called her a woman with a heart of gold.
:04:58. > :05:04.She was forever getting money for the border collie rescue.
:05:05. > :05:10.Sally, the couple were attacked by intruders,
:05:11. > :05:12.of the night on their farm and I've been told
:05:13. > :05:17.From the point of New Year's Eve till this date, 21st of February,
:05:18. > :05:19.56 attacks and 18 murders that we are aware of.
:05:20. > :05:22.They've been brutally attacked, in the sense of being pulled out
:05:23. > :05:26.of bed, tied around the neck with a garbage bag, being stabbed,
:05:27. > :05:29.blowtorched, raped and then, the end result, pulled away
:05:30. > :05:35.Today, it's being reported that five people have been arrested.
:05:36. > :05:37.The Foreign and Commonwealth Office also says it's in touch
:05:38. > :05:41.A postmortem is due to take place and, once that is completed,
:05:42. > :05:43.Sue's ashes will be flown to Southsea to be buried
:05:44. > :05:52.A big operation is gearing up to get tens of thousands
:05:53. > :05:56.of Southampton fans to Wembley for Sunday's League Cup Final.
:05:57. > :05:59.Special coaches and extra trains are being laid on, but Saints
