:00:10. > :00:13.Nominations have closed, and a picture's now emerged

:00:14. > :00:15.of apparent deals and decisions across a number of our

:00:16. > :00:20.It's clear many people won't have the choice of supporting

:00:21. > :00:22.the party they voted for last time around.

:00:23. > :00:39.Strategic deals, Progressive alliances and pacts. It may be an

:00:40. > :00:45.election more notable for who isn't standing rather than who is. You get

:00:46. > :00:53.any number of seats partly to avoid clashing with Tories who strongly

:00:54. > :00:57.support Brexit. These three all want face a Ukip challenge and one party

:00:58. > :01:00.supporter from the new Forest has switched seats to take on a

:01:01. > :01:06.conservative who boarded to remain. It is about strategic options and

:01:07. > :01:11.not letting the remainder is getting through the back door, so we Brexit

:01:12. > :01:19.MPs and the houses of parliament but most of all we want three or four

:01:20. > :01:23.elite guardians of Brexit. The majority of voters in Dorset wanted

:01:24. > :01:27.to leave the EU yet in the Hall of Dorset there is only one Ukip

:01:28. > :01:32.candidate. None of these constituencies will see a purple

:01:33. > :01:39.rosette at the door. These seven seats clocked up 55,000 Ukip votes

:01:40. > :01:47.the incumbent Conservative voting to the incumbent Conservative voting to

:01:48. > :01:49.leave, Ukip is on the ballot paper. You are going to stand on your party

:01:50. > :01:50.or collars and it is absolutely right the electorate know where

:01:51. > :01:53.stand. I don't think it's a great stand. I don't think it's a great

:01:54. > :02:00.idea for people to be weighing things up. I don't think it helps

:02:01. > :02:04.our democracy. Targeting seats especially with a high-profile

:02:05. > :02:08.candidate isn't unusual. In south Surrey the National health action

:02:09. > :02:12.party wanted to unseat the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt. The Greens

:02:13. > :02:17.agreed not to put up a candidate and some local Labour activists wanted

:02:18. > :02:22.to do the same. They told the BBC, we never win, we've never got any

:02:23. > :02:27.hope of winning. The next day she and two others were excluded from

:02:28. > :02:31.the party. The Greens said they were best placed to try to unseat the

:02:32. > :02:36.Tories and ask others to stand aside. People want us to do grown-up

:02:37. > :02:40.politics and to recognise that if we want to avoid a massive Tory

:02:41. > :02:45.landslide we need to do that and not wake up on June nine and wish we had

:02:46. > :02:52.done things differently. You can't step up an election. Our voters want

:02:53. > :02:56.just going to a pen we point out. It is not enough to just be against the

:02:57. > :03:02.Tories, you have to give positive reasons that is what they will to

:03:03. > :03:06.do. The Greens are big supporters of strategic alliances to tackle what

:03:07. > :03:11.they see as an unfair voting system. Like Ukip, they have agreed not to

:03:12. > :03:17.field a candidate in mid Dorset and North pool, asking voters to back

:03:18. > :03:21.the Liberal Democrats instead. It was put to me that they were

:03:22. > :03:25.interested and the next thing I knew, they had said, the most

:03:26. > :03:28.important thing is to unseat the Conservatives, and that will help,

:03:29. > :03:35.standing aside, she is prepared to do it. But do deals work? In some

:03:36. > :03:40.seats it will be an uphill struggle. Jeremy Hunt got 60% of the vote

:03:41. > :03:43.here, and many conservatives are defending large majorities just like

:03:44. > :03:46.that, which could be hard to overtime. -- overturned.

:03:47. > :03:50.Next, two of the South's hospital trusts have been caught up

:03:51. > :03:53.in a cyber-attack against the NHS - and been locked out

:03:54. > :03:55.Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust says it's working

:03:56. > :03:57.with the ambulance service to minimise the impact

:03:58. > :04:01.It's asking people to think twice before going to A and E.

:04:02. > :04:04.The Royal Berks Hospital in Reading says its patient discharge

:04:05. > :04:05.system is affected - it's currently relying

:04:06. > :04:11.There'll be major disruption for drivers this weekend

:04:12. > :04:13.during essential roadworks on the M4.

:04:14. > :04:15.It's been closed between junction 12 at Theale

:04:16. > :04:17.and junction 13 for Chievely since nine o'clock this evening.

:04:18. > :04:19.It won't re-open until early Monday morning.

:04:20. > :04:21.All traffic's being diverted along the A4 with severe delays predicted

:04:22. > :04:35.It's hard to detect, and has one of the lowest survival

:04:36. > :04:38.Now a surgeon from Southampton's been given ?1.4 million

:04:39. > :04:41.Fewer than a fifth of people with oesophageal cancer currently

:04:42. > :04:54.I was really pleased that I gave it a good go.

:04:55. > :04:56.You know, it's another touch of normality -

:04:57. > :05:01.John Goham from Hampshire completed half the London Marathon this year -

:05:02. > :05:08.But John has got oesophageal cancer, or cancer of the gullet.

:05:09. > :05:12.If only 15% of people that are diagnosed survive

:05:13. > :05:17.beyond five years, that seemed like a really low percentage.

:05:18. > :05:21.And that's where this lab at Southampton Hospital comes in.

:05:22. > :05:23.Thanks to over ?1 million of funding from Cancer Research UK,

:05:24. > :05:26.scientists are examining these cancer cells so they can

:05:27. > :05:42.So what we do is the cell comes in the bottom here,

:05:43. > :05:44.that's the tiny blob, and then the DNA bar-coded bead

:05:45. > :05:48.The cell is exploded and the genetic information in that cell

:05:49. > :05:50.is captured on the bead, and we process thousands of cells

:05:51. > :05:53.from each tumour to understand the biology of the disease.

:05:54. > :05:56.It's also hoped that Tim and his team will find new ways

:05:57. > :05:59.At the moment, surgery is long and invasive.

:06:00. > :06:01.Patients like John have their oesophagus removed

:06:02. > :06:04.Surgery can last for up to nine hours.

:06:05. > :06:06.I'd like to do myself out of business.

:06:07. > :06:08.Doing surgery for oesophageal cancer is demanding for the patients,

:06:09. > :06:11.It takes six to nine months to recover from.

:06:12. > :06:15.And I don't have to operate on these people and if we can

:06:16. > :06:20.target treatment better, then I am happy to stop.

:06:21. > :06:23.Yes, we have got a few marathons planned, haven't we, John?

:06:24. > :06:24.John's cancer treatment still continues.

:06:25. > :06:28.He's hoping the work down the road at Southampton Hospital will see

:06:29. > :06:34.That's it from the news team - we're back tomorrow evening at 6:15.

:06:35. > :06:40.Right now, Sarah Farmer's here with your weekend weather.

:06:41. > :06:47.Thank you. We have some rain in the forecast for this weekend. Tonight

:06:48. > :06:50.we have one or two showers and store but most of those on the light side

:06:51. > :06:54.and generally there will be quite a bit of cloud and maybe a few holes

:06:55. > :07:01.the cloud but patchy rain starting to work its way in. A mild night

:07:02. > :07:04.with the temperature at 10-11. A little bit of wet weather first

:07:05. > :07:08.thing but some decent brightness and through much of the day, some bright

:07:09. > :07:11.and sunny intervals and the odd chance of a shower cropping up but

:07:12. > :07:17.lighter than the showers we saw today. Given some sunny breaks the

:07:18. > :07:23.temperature could claim to 1718. Enter tomorrow evening, we will

:07:24. > :07:25.start to see a band of wet weather arising from the south-west, and

:07:26. > :07:29.that is with us through the overnight period into Sunday. It

:07:30. > :07:32.clear through to the east so Sunday is set fine with sunny spells and

:07:33. > :07:42.showers, Monday some A bit of a mixed bag earlier on

:07:43. > :07:48.today, some of us were cloudy with rain. This is the view from one of

:07:49. > :07:52.our weather watchers in Cornwall. But in the Highlands of Scotland, it

:07:53. > :07:57.was completely different, find, sunny and warm. The satellite and

:07:58. > :08:03.radar picture shows the variety of weather we have had. It brightened

:08:04. > :08:11.up into the afternoon, early evening. The north-east of Scotland

:08:12. > :08:12.and England
