:00:06. > :00:08.Good evening. A 60-year-old man has died after saving his son when

:00:08. > :00:11.disaster struck a family fishing trip on the north Cornwall coast.

:00:11. > :00:14.The pair were both swept into the sea near Delabole. The 27-year-old

:00:14. > :00:24.has been praised for trying to save his father. Rescuers described the

:00:24. > :00:29.scene as harrowing. Spotlight's Matt Pengelly reports. It was meant

:00:29. > :00:33.to be a father and son fishing trip on Easter Sunday. But just after

:00:33. > :00:41.half past eight in the morning it turned to tragedy. It seems the

:00:41. > :00:47.younger man slipped and fell into the sea. His father scrambled up

:00:47. > :00:53.the cliff to fetch an emergency lifeboat. But he then fell into the

:00:54. > :00:59.water himself. As full-scale rescue operation was launched, with the

:00:59. > :01:05.helicopter, coastguard teams and the inshore lifeboat teams. But the

:01:05. > :01:08.older man did not survive. I think the son should be proud of his

:01:08. > :01:14.father, for doing what would come naturally I think to any father.

:01:14. > :01:20.But on the same side, I think the father would be looking down on his

:01:20. > :01:25.son proud of the way he looked after his dad in such a difficult

:01:25. > :01:29.situation. When we turneded -- turned up, the son was supporting

:01:29. > :01:35.his father and doing everything he could to keep him off the rocks A

:01:35. > :01:39.harrowing situation, but a very brave young man. The dead man has

:01:39. > :01:45.not been formally identified. His son has now left hospital.

:01:45. > :01:53.Elsewhere, two groups of hl day makers were rescued from a kaech in

:01:53. > :01:56.west Cornwall after they were cut off by the tide. Guernsey Police

:01:56. > :01:59.have named the man who died in an explosion at a house in Fort George

:01:59. > :02:02.late on Friday night. Formal identification has yet to take

:02:02. > :02:05.place, but the police say he was 46-year-old Robert Blakemore. Two

:02:05. > :02:10.other people - believed to be the man's parents - were evacuated from

:02:10. > :02:12.the property unharmed. Police say there's no link to terrorism. Two

:02:12. > :02:15.families have been left homeless after fire ripped through a

:02:15. > :02:18.thatched property near Exeter. Dozens of fire fighters from across

:02:18. > :02:21.the South West were called in to tackle the blaze in the village of

:02:21. > :02:31.Ide last night. From there, Spotlight's Leigh Rundle sends this

:02:31. > :02:31.

:02:31. > :02:36.report. Still smouldering, a damp and Dev state spectacle. The first

:02:36. > :02:40.thing I saw was the roof, it was on fire. You could see the beam and

:02:40. > :02:47.until we came around the back and I saw my bedroom, just completely,

:02:47. > :02:51.that was when... Just in shock. I still feel, it is just awful.

:02:51. > :02:55.Volunteers from the village joined firefighters. One of the families

:02:55. > :02:59.managed to get most of the thing out belonging to the children in

:02:59. > :03:03.the common areas. On the other side it was getting wet and it was

:03:03. > :03:09.unsafe. It was almost impossible to get the belongings out in the

:03:09. > :03:16.lounge and the kitchen. Theed by rooms areed soen. The two families

:03:16. > :03:20.who rented the building had a lucky escape. It was occupied, everyone

:03:20. > :03:27.escaped. There were no casualties, so part of the work here in

:03:27. > :03:31.addition to extinguishing the fire was to salvage item of value.

:03:31. > :03:37.its height, 15 fire crews were involved. They based the operation

:03:37. > :03:41.in the car park of the local pub. We were supplying teas and coffees

:03:41. > :03:45.to start off with and just generally helping where we could.

:03:45. > :03:52.It must be devastating for the family. I heart goes out to them.

:03:52. > :04:00.In a fire, you lose everything. is too early to identify the cause,

:04:00. > :04:03.but investigations areing. -- are continuing. The team behind a new

:04:03. > :04:06.multi-million pound settlement near Exeter say they will have failed if

:04:06. > :04:09.it becomes a dormitory town. The first show homes at Cranbrook are

:04:09. > :04:12.due to open in a few weeks and two new business parks are being

:04:12. > :04:15.created. There are claims that the new community will be self-

:04:15. > :04:18.sustaining with around 10,000 jobs being created in its science parks

:04:18. > :04:20.over the next few years. Helston's celebrating the reinvention of its

:04:20. > :04:23.former cattle market site with a sleek new building. The state-of-

:04:23. > :04:25.the art business and community centre cost 1.9 million. The co-

:04:25. > :04:34.operative which represents farmers markets says the building is

:04:34. > :04:37.significant, as few markets have purpose-built space. 3 million is

:04:37. > :04:41.being invested in Land's End for the start of the Olympic torch

:04:41. > :04:44.relay next month. The start and finish area for the famous Land's

:04:44. > :04:50.End to John O'Groats journey will be improved and clifftop footpaths

:04:50. > :04:54.will be restored. After years of touring the UK, the Museum of

:04:54. > :04:59.British Surfing has finally found a permanent venue in North Devon. The

:04:59. > :05:01.exhibition centre in Braunton opened to the public this weekend.

:05:01. > :05:03.The new Art of Surf exhibition includes sketches of early

:05:03. > :05:13.explorers through to works by contemporary British surfing

:05:13. > :05:14.

:05:14. > :05:19.artists. The sport had its origins in Hawaii. It was a developed board

:05:19. > :05:26.sport in what Wye eye when captain Cook arrived and some of his

:05:26. > :05:31.sailors tryed the surfboards. It came in the early 1900s and became

:05:31. > :05:34.a popular activity between the two World Wars. Onto the Easter Monday

:05:34. > :05:37.sport and Exeter City are putting up a valiant fight for their League

:05:37. > :05:39.One status after beating Leyton Orient 3-0 at St James Park. City,

:05:39. > :05:41.who haven't won since mid-February, were given early encouragement when

:05:41. > :05:43.Jake Taylor scored after only four Jake Taylor scored after only four

:05:43. > :05:46.minutes. A double from Liam Sercombe inside three minutes

:05:46. > :05:52.reduced the safety gap to eight points, with four games left to

:05:52. > :05:55.play. Yeovil Town, although looking safe in League One, went down at

:05:55. > :05:59.Notts County 3-1. Gary Johnson's side went down to a Lloyd Sam hat-

:05:59. > :06:04.trick as County charged into the play-off positions. Jonathan Franks

:06:04. > :06:06.brought Yeovil level near the end, before Sam had the last say.

:06:06. > :06:10.Torquay United stay second in League Two, after a last minute

:06:10. > :06:13.equaliser at Oxford. Rene Howe put the Gulls ahead with his 14th goal

:06:13. > :06:19.of the season. But they fell behind until Howe's replacement, Taiwo

:06:19. > :06:22.Atieno, saved the day in the 90th minute. It finished 2-2. Plymouth

:06:22. > :06:26.Argyle need one more win to survive in League Two following today's 1-0

:06:26. > :06:30.win over Aldershot Town at Home Park. It was loan striker Alex

:06:30. > :06:39.MacDonald who pounced in the first quarter of an hour to make it six

:06:39. > :06:46.games unbeaten for the Pilgrims in front of more than 8,500. It's time

:06:46. > :06:52.to check out the weather forecast now. David has the details for us.

:06:52. > :06:56.Hello, after today's wind and rain, it is a little quieter tonight.

:06:56. > :06:59.Still the risk of a few showers and still breezy. Tomorrow we start off

:06:59. > :07:03.with sunshine, but the showers are never too far away and they will

:07:03. > :07:08.continue through the day. Lowest temperature three or four degrees.

:07:08. > :07:14.There will be some sunshine, but some sharp showers. That is the

:07:14. > :07:17.prospect for whole day. Eleven, maybe 12 degrees the top

:07:17. > :07:21.temperature. By the time of Wednesday, the showers more

:07:22. > :07:26.isolated, but still there. And north-west winds making it feel

:07:26. > :07:30.cool. Temperatures of ten to 12 degrees. To the end of the week on

:07:30. > :07:39.Thursday and Friday, we still have low pressure and the risk of

:07:39. > :07:44.showers and also on we're back into a more normal pattern of April
