:00:00. > :00:09.Thank you very much. That is it from us.

:00:10. > :00:14.A van driver has walked away with minor injuries after his vehicle

:00:15. > :00:18.crashed over a bridge and plunged 20 feet into the fast flowing river

:00:19. > :00:21.Tamor. The partially submerged transit van came to rest near

:00:22. > :00:31.Gunnislake after the accident early this morning.

:00:32. > :00:37.A Brooklyn Bridge and a 20 foot drop into the river and 200 yards

:00:38. > :00:41.stream, a partially submerged transit van and incredibly, the

:00:42. > :00:46.driver managed to get to safety. As far as the aware, the driver was

:00:47. > :00:53.with the vehicle all the way through and he made his escape after it came

:00:54. > :00:57.to rest downstream. We don't know where the driver managed to get out

:00:58. > :01:00.of the river but there is his vehicle, pointing straight back up

:01:01. > :01:06.towards the bridge. It really is an incredible escape. It happened at

:01:07. > :01:10.around 9am this morning. It appears the van was crossing the bridge from

:01:11. > :01:20.Cornwall when something went wrong. Sometimes lorries scrape the side of

:01:21. > :01:24.the wall because it is very tight. This is the most serious accident we

:01:25. > :01:29.have had here for a long time. The van driver, a 30`year`old man were

:01:30. > :01:33.leaved to be from the area, was taken to be hospital but it is

:01:34. > :01:37.thought he only had minor injuries. It is a pleasant surprise to find

:01:38. > :01:45.that somebody is OK after such a fall. It is not clear when the

:01:46. > :01:53.bridge will reopen. One thing is certain, the driver of this ban is

:01:54. > :01:55.very lucky. That bridge will be closed for at

:01:56. > :01:58.least a week. Several gale force winds are

:01:59. > :02:02.expected to bring further disruption to coastal communities later today.

:02:03. > :02:05.Gusts of up to 70 miles an hour could force the high tides to

:02:06. > :02:08.overtop sea and harbour walls. Jersey has been hit by stormy seas

:02:09. > :02:13.today and some homes were left without electricity. In Portreath in

:02:14. > :02:16.Cornwall there was some minor flooding with this morning's high

:02:17. > :02:23.tides but the Environment Agency say more severe weather is on its way

:02:24. > :02:26.this afternoon. This weekend sees Yeovil Town away

:02:27. > :02:29.to Nottingham Forest and Plymouth Argyle try to end their losing

:02:30. > :02:34.streak against Mansfield Town at Home Park. Exeter City bid to stop

:02:35. > :02:39.their slide down League Two with a good result at Burton Albion. Winger

:02:40. > :02:43.Danny Stevens is back with Torquay United on a short`term contract

:02:44. > :02:48.until the end of the season. He could feature at Portsmouth.

:02:49. > :02:51.Exeter Chiefs winger Jack Nowell is prepared to make his senior

:02:52. > :02:55.international debut for the England rugby team later today. The

:02:56. > :02:59.20`year`old who is from Newlyn, goes straight into the deep end against

:03:00. > :03:10.France in Paris this evening. The weather is next.

:03:11. > :03:14.We have further heavy showers on the way for this afternoon and some

:03:15. > :03:23.strong winds. We do have a Met Office yellow warning and we could

:03:24. > :03:28.see gusts of up to 60 miles an hour. Heavy showers this afternoon. They

:03:29. > :03:35.will form a band a time, ringing a risk of hail and thunder. Highs of

:03:36. > :03:41.just seven or eight degrees. This evening, the showers ease away and

:03:42. > :03:48.they become more of a scattering by the early hours. Lows of four or

:03:49. > :03:52.five degrees. Tomorrow, further showers expected and a blustery day

:03:53. > :03:55.but the winds not as strong and more sunny spells.

:03:56. > :04:02.I'm back with the evening news at 7:00pm.

:04:03. > :04:08.Do have a very good afternoon. Goodbye.

:04:09. > :04:14.Some of us will have to brace ourselves today. Leaning forward

:04:15. > :04:19.into the wind. If you live over the west of the UK, there are gale-force

:04:20. > :04:22.winds on the way, but the main hazards are the gales and the

:04:23. > :04:24.potential for flooding.
