:00:00. > :00:08.That's it for now. We're back with the late news

:00:09. > :00:13.And Monday bring outbreaks of rain. We do have a Met Office yellow

:00:14. > :00:16.warning of rain in force. Good evening. The South West has borne

:00:17. > :00:21.the brunt of yet another Atlantic storm, but it may be the last for

:00:22. > :00:23.now. At the latest count 7,000 households were still without

:00:24. > :00:27.electricity after gusts measuring 80 miles an hour were recorded off

:00:28. > :00:30.Dorset. The reopening of the railway linking Devon and Cornwall may be

:00:31. > :00:37.delayed after further damage where the line is severed at Dawlish.

:00:38. > :00:41.Here's John Danks. Hammered by the sea. Shipping containers designed to

:00:42. > :00:44.protect the sea wall at Dawlish left broken and bent. Another powerful

:00:45. > :00:49.storm was the last thing engineers here needed. Today, there were no

:00:50. > :00:53.trains running south of Exeter and services in Cornwall were suspended

:00:54. > :00:56.for much of the day due to flooding on lines. In Kingsand, there was

:00:57. > :01:01.blue sky, a peaceful picture far at odds with these scenes from last

:01:02. > :01:06.night. And this was the result of the onslaught of large waves.

:01:07. > :01:10.Another large hole has opened up in the base. All the reinforcement that

:01:11. > :01:13.were put in place have done their job. It's all still standing and,

:01:14. > :01:16.yeah, everyone's doing all they can and the locals are running around

:01:17. > :01:19.and it is a brilliant community spirit here. Builders hope to

:01:20. > :01:22.stabilise the clock tower and institute building by pumping

:01:23. > :01:27.concrete around its base tomorrow. High winds brought trees down, block

:01:28. > :01:30.roads. This one took down part of the wall of a primary school in

:01:31. > :01:34.Plymouth, narrowly avoiding the roof of a nearby property. Meanwhile four

:01:35. > :01:40.people had to be rescued from their cars at Slapton Sands after breaking

:01:41. > :01:44.waves made the road impassable. So another storm has passed through the

:01:45. > :01:59.region, people are once again left clearing up and hoping the weather

:02:00. > :02:05.will give them a break. Two severe flood warnings remain in force on

:02:06. > :02:09.the Somerset Levels. The Prime Minister defended his handling of

:02:10. > :02:12.the flood crisis on a visit to the South West this week. Today the

:02:13. > :02:15.shadow Environment Secretary was in Penzance where the promenade has

:02:16. > :02:18.been badly damaged. David Cameron pledged to help people affected, but

:02:19. > :02:21.Maria Eagle argues climate change is having an impact and ministers need

:02:22. > :02:25.take it more seriously. I think this is a real wake up call for the

:02:26. > :02:28.Government generally to look at making sure we are more resilient to

:02:29. > :02:31.these increasingly volatile weather events that seem to be happening

:02:32. > :02:34.more frequently. Our reporter Chris Eakin has been examining the

:02:35. > :02:40.aftermath of last night's storm on Portland. We're on the sea defence

:02:41. > :02:44.at the end of Chesil Beach. You take a look over, just get a sense of the

:02:45. > :02:48.drop down to the beach. Those stones at the bottom were picked up by the

:02:49. > :02:52.waves and they were thrown right up on to the defence and they pounded

:02:53. > :03:05.down here like a jack hammer, breaking up this surface. Look at it

:03:06. > :03:09.all along here. Let's just take a look at this. All of this thrown by

:03:10. > :03:13.the power of the sea and when you get to the corner, you see the big

:03:14. > :03:17.pile of stones that almost look like the council have dumped them here.

:03:18. > :03:21.And we haven't finished yet, because if you come up here and look down

:03:22. > :03:25.the road, down at the bottom you may just be able to make out by the sand

:03:26. > :03:29.bags on the edge of the pavement there are more of these stones. They

:03:30. > :03:34.have been bowled right down there by the power of the sea. Sport and

:03:35. > :03:37.Torquay United went down at Chesterfield 3`1. At Home Park

:03:38. > :03:40.Plymouth Argyle also lost ` it was 4`0 to York City there. But better

:03:41. > :03:43.news for Exeter who won 3`2 at Southend.

:03:44. > :03:45.Plymouth Argyle also lost ` it was 4`0 to In rugby the meet between

:03:46. > :03:48.Plymouth Albion and Jersey was postponed. But Exeter Chiefs'

:03:49. > :03:59.sell`out match against Bath went ahead. But they lost 23`27. And the

:04:00. > :04:04.Cornish Pirates' were due to play London Welsh tomorrow, but that has

:04:05. > :04:11.had to be put back too. And now time for a slightly more pleasant weather

:04:12. > :04:15.forecast with Holly. Good evening. Tonight is looking fairly quiet. But

:04:16. > :04:19.that means it is going to get cold. We have a Met Office yellow warning

:04:20. > :04:22.of ice that will form on untreated surfaces, creating a hazard on the

:04:23. > :04:26.roads. So we had a few showers around earlier, they have largely

:04:27. > :04:29.died down, leaving clear spells and light winds. That's allowed that

:04:30. > :04:33.frost and ice to form. Lows in many places down to low single figures or

:04:34. > :04:36.freezing in some spots. So it is a cold but bright start to tomorrow

:04:37. > :04:40.morning. Plenty of sunny spells through the day, but I think cloud

:04:41. > :04:44.will tend to thicken from the west as we head through the afternoon,

:04:45. > :04:47.with a few showers pushing in later. The winds will tend to pick up as

:04:48. > :04:51.well. Highs around eight or nine degrees. Now Sunday night and Monday

:04:52. > :04:55.bring outbreaks of rain. We do have a Met Office yellow warning of rain

:04:56. > :05:00.in force. We want to know your flooding stories next week. Get in

:05:01. > :05:02.touch with us in the usual way. From the weekend team, have a very good

:05:03. > :05:16.evening. Hello, good evening, finally some

:05:17. > :05:20.quieter weather on the way for the British Isles for the remainder of

:05:21. > :05:24.this weekend, also somewhat for the week ahead. More on that in a

:05:25. > :05:30.moment. Tonight, the biggest story is the winds continuing to ease

:05:31. > :05:34.Into the small hours of Sunday, the winds will be light. Late showers

:05:35. > :05:38.for Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. A lot of

:05:39. > :05:43.groundwater around elsewhere with a wide spread rural frost predicted we

:05:44. > :05:46.are looking at the prospect of patches of ice on Sunday. There is a

:05:47. > :05:52.lot of sunshine to come throughout the day. With light winds it will

:05:53. > :05:56.feel pleasant. Highs to Scotland and Northern Ireland of six or seven. To

:05:57. > :05:59.the south, eight, nine or ten in the south-east of England. To the west,

:06:00. > :06:04.showers will brush into Northern Ireland through the afternoon. High

:06:05. > :06:08.pressure, as we move from Sunday into Monday, gives way to an area of

:06:09. > :06:11.low pressure couldn't coming in from the Atlantic. This is nothing like

:06:12. > :06:12.the bull's-eye
