:00:07. > :00:08.Good afternoon. Stay with us

:00:09. > :00:11.Good afternoon. Farmers in the South West h`ve hit

:00:12. > :00:14.out at a Government campaign which is urging people to cut down on the

:00:15. > :00:16.amount of full`fat cheese and milk in their diet. The Change4Lhfe

:00:17. > :00:21.initiative recommends consulers switch to products which have less

:00:22. > :00:24.saturated fat. But farmers claim this could damage an industry which

:00:25. > :00:28.has already been badly affected by the recent floods. Anna Varle

:00:29. > :00:31.reports. This is the campaign which hs

:00:32. > :00:34.causing so much controversy ` one way to cut down on saturated fat, it

:00:35. > :00:44.says, is to switch to reducdd fat cheese and skimmed milk. But this

:00:45. > :00:51.hasn't gone down well amongst farmers like Mary Quicke. M`ry's

:00:52. > :00:58.farm near Exeter makes cheddar the traditional way, and is the largest

:00:59. > :01:01.of its kind in the world. If people are saying eat less

:01:02. > :01:05.saturated fat, then that is animal products ` dairy and meat, `nd that

:01:06. > :01:12.is what this part of the world does so well. Farmers don't need any more

:01:13. > :01:20.burdens to carry out the flooding and everything else. We would like a

:01:21. > :01:22.government who is really getting behind us and saying accurate

:01:23. > :01:28.information, rather than thhs old news.

:01:29. > :01:31.Farmers are not the only onds who are unhappy with the campaign ` it's

:01:32. > :01:34.also sparked a row amongst environment and health ministers

:01:35. > :01:38.within the Tory party. The government has got to bd careful

:01:39. > :01:41.` yes, you can alert people to what they are eating, but I think we must

:01:42. > :01:44.make sure that this is a wholesome product and look at it throtghout

:01:45. > :01:50.everything that is in that cheese and milk. That's why farmers will

:01:51. > :01:52.feel let down by this. The Government says the campaign is

:01:53. > :01:56.about advising people on sm`ll changes they can make towards

:01:57. > :02:00.healthy eating. They state ht does not suggest dairy is bad for you and

:02:01. > :02:08.insists milk and cheese can be enjoyed as part of a balancdd diet.

:02:09. > :02:14.But for those farmers like Lary ` it's a message which she cl`ims will

:02:15. > :02:16.do more harm than good. And there's more on that story on

:02:17. > :02:21.the Sunday Children crossing the road hn a

:02:22. > :02:24.Devon village claim they're taking their lives in their hands when

:02:25. > :02:27.crossing the road to their bus stop. Parents are campaigning for road

:02:28. > :02:30.safety measures on a stretch of the old A38 at Wrangaton. They say

:02:31. > :02:33.they're frustrated by the obstacles preventing the installation of a

:02:34. > :02:35.traffic island. Devon Countx Council says it has to consider dem`nds from

:02:36. > :02:39.other competing schemes. It's the end of an era for `ir

:02:40. > :02:42.travel in Guernsey and Jersdy today as Flybe's Gatwick flights dnd. The

:02:43. > :02:46.airline is closing its base in the island with the loss of mord than 30

:02:47. > :02:49.jobs. Flybe has sold all its Gatwick slots, blaming rising chargds at the

:02:50. > :02:54.London airport. Easyjet will offer three flights a day when it takes

:02:55. > :03:00.over on the route tomorrow. Onto the weather now with Holly

:03:01. > :03:06.Good afternoon. After a rather cloudy start to the day, thd skies

:03:07. > :03:09.have now started to brighten nicely, and many of us should get to see

:03:10. > :03:13.some hazy sunshine through this afternoon. The Isles of Scilly, mind

:03:14. > :03:16.you ` here we will see a lot more cloud and outbreaks of rain. It s a

:03:17. > :03:19.blustery day out there, as well but feeling warm enough where you do get

:03:20. > :03:22.some shelter. Overnight, further outbreaks of rain moving eastwards,

:03:23. > :03:30.so a bit of a damp night but a mild one. Lows between ten and ehght

:03:31. > :03:34.degrees. Tomorrow starts on a bit of a grey note, with a bit of patchy

:03:35. > :03:37.rain here and there. Once again that rain is withdrawing westwards

:03:38. > :03:40.and we should get to see sole brightness behind. The Isles of

:03:41. > :03:44.Scilly and the far west of Cornwall could be a bit damp at times through

:03:45. > :03:47.the day. Thereafter, we see some heavy showers into next week, but

:03:48. > :03:51.with some warm and bright wdather at times.

:03:52. > :03:55.We'll have all today's sports results for you at 6.55pm this

:03:56. > :04:08.evening. Hope you can join ts. Until then, goodbye.

:04:09. > :04:14.Good afternoon. The clocks go forward by one hour tonight, British

:04:15. > :04:18.Summer Time begins. Hard to believe that this was the scene exactly one

:04:19. > :04:20.year ago in North Wales when we were in the grip of
