:00:09. > :00:11.for three years, will at some point Good evening. The commander of a

:00:12. > :00:14.Devonport`based survey ship which is searching for the missing M`laysian

:00:15. > :00:18.airliner has said it is the hardest operation he has ever been part of.

:00:19. > :00:21.HMS Echo was diverted to thd southern Indian Ocean, wherd pings

:00:22. > :00:26.thought to be from the misshng plane's black box flight recorder

:00:27. > :00:30.had been detected. Its equipment has been specially adapted for the task.

:00:31. > :00:34.Crew members are working rotnd the clock in difficult conditions.

:00:35. > :00:38.We have a young, bright, and enthusiastic team. Very highly

:00:39. > :00:40.trained and very profession`l. We have world`leading expertisd in both

:00:41. > :00:45.hydrographical and oceanogr`phic surveying. As you can imagine, I'm

:00:46. > :00:48.very proud of their determination and professionalism, attempting to

:00:49. > :00:52.help in the search. An elderly lady who walks whth the

:00:53. > :00:55.aid of a walking stick has been taken to hospital after being

:00:56. > :00:58.injured while her handbag w`s stolen in Exeter. It happened betwden AM

:00:59. > :01:03.and 9AM this morning, on thd footpath between St Thomas Pleasure

:01:04. > :01:06.Ground and Buller Road. The man who made off with her bag is described

:01:07. > :01:11.as white, 6`foot tall, and was wearing a black top and jeans. He is

:01:12. > :01:14.believed to have had his face covered. The woman has been released

:01:15. > :01:17.from hospital. Campaigners opposed to wind farms in

:01:18. > :01:20.Cornwall say they would prefer a nuclear power station in thd county

:01:21. > :01:23.than more wind turbines. Thd man in charge of Cornwall Protect says

:01:24. > :01:27.there are upwards of 600 wind turbines in Cornwall. John Henderson

:01:28. > :01:34.reports. A wind turbine close to the Cornish

:01:35. > :01:36.village of Pensilva, near Lhskeard. The campaign group, Cornwall

:01:37. > :01:42.Protect, opposed the turbind and claim its one of 600 in the county

:01:43. > :01:46.alone. The man leading the group says that is too many and hd would

:01:47. > :01:52.prefer a nuclear power stathon in Cornwall. A nuclear power station

:01:53. > :01:55.would actually achieve something. So yes, if I was given the chohce

:01:56. > :01:58.between nuclear power or wind turbines, at least I would know that

:01:59. > :02:04.the nuclear power station w`s achieving something and it would

:02:05. > :02:07.produce green, clean energy. The comments came in the same wdek that

:02:08. > :02:14.there was a protest over thd new Hinkley C nuclear power station in

:02:15. > :02:17.Somerset. It was the threat of a nuclear power station in Cornwall in

:02:18. > :02:20.the late 1970s and early 1980s, that prompted Peter Edwards to ddvelop

:02:21. > :02:25.the first commercial wind f`rm at Delabole. Though he thinks nuclear

:02:26. > :02:29.power is expensive, he is not against it. The trouble is that many

:02:30. > :02:36.people's energy policy is something else, somewhere else. For now at

:02:37. > :02:41.least, there are no plans for a nuclear power station in Cornwall.

:02:42. > :02:45.John Henderson, BBC Spotlight. A boat has sunk in a yacht harbour

:02:46. > :02:48.in Cornwall following a fird. Fifteen fire fighters, incltding

:02:49. > :02:53.some on a boat, tackled the fire on the 20`foot motor vessel at Mylor

:02:54. > :02:56.last night. No one was on board The severity of the fire the catsed the

:02:57. > :02:59.vessel to sink. Teignmouth's historic pier, which

:03:00. > :03:03.was badly damaged in the recent storms, will re`open in Julx. Work

:03:04. > :03:06.has started over the last fdw days to restore the site, which suffered

:03:07. > :03:12.hundreds of thousands of potnds worth of damage. Our South Devon

:03:13. > :03:16.reporter, John Ayres, has more. The clean`up has begun. This pier

:03:17. > :03:20.has been here for 149 years and has been owned by the same family for

:03:21. > :03:23.decades. The storms back in February took out the floor, the electrics,

:03:24. > :03:29.and 90% of the machines and games ` some of them are irreplaceable. But

:03:30. > :03:35.now the insurance has been settled, the Grand Pier is being brotght back

:03:36. > :03:42.to life. It will be a littld bit different, but we do not want to

:03:43. > :03:47.make it too out there. We are not that sort of a town. By keeping it

:03:48. > :03:54.broadly traditional it will appeal to enough people. This pier is one

:03:55. > :03:58.of only two in Devon. The other is at Paignton. It is a famous landmark

:03:59. > :04:03.and is loved by holiday`makdrs. With the weather picking up recently

:04:04. > :04:07.being closed has come hard to Nick. Heartbreaking. With the kids off and

:04:08. > :04:13.we have had sunshine all wedk, we would have been really busy. In the

:04:14. > :04:19.Easter holidays last year it was snowing and we had a very b`d start

:04:20. > :04:24.to the year. To be missing out on all this sunshine that we h`ve got

:04:25. > :04:28.now is heartbreaking. All going well, and with no more mish`ps that

:04:29. > :04:32.the weather, 1st of July is the date that is pencilled in for thd pier to

:04:33. > :04:34.reopen. If it remains like this they hopefully should not h`ve too

:04:35. > :04:39.many problems. John Ayres, BBC Spotlight, Teignmouth.

:04:40. > :04:42.On to this afternoon's rugbx, and in the Championship the Cornish Pirates

:04:43. > :04:44.have been beaten at home despite holding a 13 point half`timd lead

:04:45. > :04:47.against Rotherham. They lost 40`20 to Rotherham Titans.

:04:48. > :04:49.And Plymouth Albion have suffered a heavy defeat. They lost 40`04 at

:04:50. > :05:04.Leeds. Onto the weather now, and hdre is

:05:05. > :05:09.Emily. Good weather brought crowds out, the question is will it

:05:10. > :05:14.continue. Good evening. Aftdr good weather over the weekend, wd will

:05:15. > :05:22.continue the settled weather for the start of the week. Tonight, there is

:05:23. > :05:31.some clothes and some wind. A cool night in the countryside, 4`5

:05:32. > :05:38.degrees. Tomorrow morning, ` fine and bright start to the day. More

:05:39. > :05:44.warm sunshine in the afternoon. A dry day tomorrow, 14`15 degrees

:05:45. > :05:51.This is set to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday. Warm sunshind,

:05:52. > :05:54.although cool overnight. Probably some workload by Thursday.

:05:55. > :06:13.That is all from us for now. Goodbye.

:06:14. > :06:19.We got to 17 degrees in the sunshine in London and many places enjoyed a

:06:20. > :06:23.pleasant day. A different story for the zero wherein was quite wet and

:06:24. > :06:24.windy. You can see that cloud is moving
