:00:00. > :00:08.of Australia. That's all from Hampden Park. Do

:00:09. > :00:18.This evening at Exeter Cathedral a special service remembered the

:00:19. > :00:23.Among the congregation were families of

:00:24. > :00:42.11,000 men and women died during the First World War. There are 2000 war

:00:43. > :00:51.memorials across the country. And it is an opportunity for a Devon if you

:00:52. > :00:57.like to remember, so that it becomes everybody's event, not just our

:00:58. > :01:01.own. We have to learn the lesson. We are not very successful and learning

:01:02. > :01:04.the lesson that war is devastating for people, for countries, and

:01:05. > :01:10.something we need to avoid in the future.

:01:11. > :01:13.Meanwhile, in Cornwall, memories of the men who went to war

:01:14. > :01:15.have been brought to life in a unique and powerful outdoor

:01:16. > :01:18.Recalling the fishermen, gardeners and men from Mevagissey

:01:19. > :01:20.and the surrounding areas, Wildworks Theatre Company told their

:01:21. > :01:29.stories in the dramatic settings of Heligan Gardens and the Harbour.

:01:30. > :01:33.Our Government has guaranteed naval protection of the North Sea and

:01:34. > :01:42.channel coasts from German aggression... What they have

:01:43. > :01:50.achieved is giving people some sort of idea of what it was like 100

:01:51. > :01:56.years ago, Mevagissey was full of anticipation of something awful, it

:01:57. > :01:59.was very sombre. The music was keeping people going. We were all

:02:00. > :02:08.waiting for something awful to happen.

:02:09. > :02:13.What we are hoping is to get a little bit closer to the humanity of

:02:14. > :02:20.these people. Sometimes in acts of remembrance we tend to have a

:02:21. > :02:25.uniform sense of men, a list of men all in uniform, they are all the

:02:26. > :02:39.same, we wanted to turn them into individuals.

:02:40. > :02:47.We do not learn the lessons of history. And we perhaps send young

:02:48. > :02:57.boys to similar situations 100 years following.

:02:58. > :03:01.A sweet young man, he loved gardening, wildlife...

:03:02. > :03:03.And we'll have full coverage of events to mark the anniversary

:03:04. > :03:06.on Spotlight tomorrow ` as well as special reports throughout this week

:03:07. > :03:09.In other news, a Devonport`based survey ship is helping to bring home

:03:10. > :03:12.Britons caught up in the increasing unrest in Libya.

:03:13. > :03:15.HMS Enterprise, which has been on operations

:03:16. > :03:18.in the Mediterranean, arrived in the capital Tripoli today.

:03:19. > :03:21.A number of British citizens have been transferred to the ship by boat

:03:22. > :03:29.And as the Commonwealth Games comes to an

:03:30. > :03:32.end, Tom Daley has been reflecting on his gold medal success.

:03:33. > :03:35.Last night he retained his individual diving title

:03:36. > :03:38.in fine style, destroying a field that included

:03:39. > :03:40.fellow Plymothian and rising star, 14`year`old Matthew Dixon.

:03:41. > :03:42.Daley was so far ahead that he barely needed to bother with

:03:43. > :04:02.There is always pressure on anything I do, and that kind of helps me five

:04:03. > :04:04.better. If there is no pressure, it is not a competition. `` it helps me

:04:05. > :04:17.dive better. The bright and breezy conditions of

:04:18. > :04:23.today are giving way to a pretty quiet night. We may just see a few

:04:24. > :04:32.showers. Generally though, I think clear spells and knows between 12

:04:33. > :04:36.and 14 Celsius. We have the risk of a few showers tomorrow, a scattering

:04:37. > :04:40.here and there, but still plenty of sunny spells coming through.

:04:41. > :04:46.Temperatures just creeping up into the low 20s. For the Channel

:04:47. > :04:54.Islands, a good chance of staying dry for the bulk of the day. We do

:04:55. > :04:56.see things turning more unsettled. The risk of some heavy, thundery

:04:57. > :04:58.showers. Have a good night.

:04:59. > :05:12.Goodbye. Good evening. Many of us had a

:05:13. > :05:17.decent second part of the weekend, particularly so for England and

:05:18. > :05:21.Wales, rather different from Scotland and Northern Ireland. We

:05:22. > :05:25.saw our whole rash of showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland, some

:05:26. > :05:32.thunder and lightning swirling around. There was a huge curl of

:05:33. > :05:40.cloud, indicative of an area of low pressure. That will work its way

:05:41. > :05:50.northwards, taking its the wind and rain with it. For England and Wales,

:05:51. > :05:51.may be a shower around the coast but rural spots make it a
