:00:17. > :00:21.It's the first time in its 33 year history that the huge event at

:00:22. > :00:26.The event is reported to be worth ?30 million to the local economy

:00:27. > :00:28.but this year some traders have lost out.

:00:29. > :00:43.First thing this morning, traders were tying in their stalls

:00:44. > :00:45.It has been really, really windy and really gusty and

:00:46. > :00:48.of course it is just too dangerous for the public to come in hdre.

:00:49. > :00:51.As you guys have seen, the wind is just whipping

:00:52. > :00:53.around down here especially as we are so exposed on the beach.

:00:54. > :00:56.It is a little bit of a disappointment, but at the same

:00:57. > :01:01.There are 40 mile an hour whnds here on the beach today.

:01:02. > :01:03.As you have seen, the surfing village has shut shop,

:01:04. > :01:08.But for the surfers, their passion is chasing storms

:01:09. > :01:12.And someone who regularly does just that is Newquay's own Tom Bttler,

:01:13. > :01:14.competing here in the men's quarter`finals earlier

:01:15. > :01:25.There is a lot of luck kind of of where the waves will pop up,

:01:26. > :01:30.So the worst thing that can happen is that I am just not going to get

:01:31. > :01:37.on the quality waves and thdrefore I am not going to be able to surf to

:01:38. > :01:40.Lady Luck eluded him today as she did thousands

:01:41. > :01:44.The final day's lineup was cancelled due to extreme weather condhtions.

:01:45. > :01:46.Many lost their tents due to high winds overnight

:01:47. > :01:51.Our tent ended up in a field somewhere over there and

:01:52. > :02:01.Halfway through the night, the wind just really picked up and

:02:02. > :02:03.there were tents blowing evdrywhere, tents going over hedges.

:02:04. > :02:06.I think we were the only onds that didn't have any broken poles

:02:07. > :02:15.Although thousands have headed home, the more resilient campers resolved

:02:16. > :02:23.to dig in for a final night on the Atlantic Coast.

:02:24. > :02:25.A group of breast cancer patients from

:02:26. > :02:29.Plymouth have joined forces to show there is life after the illness

:02:30. > :02:32.The women, who are all membdrs of the support group, Bosom Pals

:02:33. > :02:38.Spotlight's Johnny Rutherford has been to meet them.

:02:39. > :02:44.This group of ladies have got together to raise money for the

:02:45. > :02:53.But this is more than just a calendar shoot.

:02:54. > :02:56.We wanted to do something rdally positive to make a difference

:02:57. > :02:59.and kind of give hope to other people affected by cancer and show

:03:00. > :03:03.And make some beautiful images of ladies who are local who have

:03:04. > :03:09.Today's shoot have to be the calendar?s front cover.

:03:10. > :03:12.Everyone in the picture had or is having treatment for breast cancer.

:03:13. > :03:17.And they are all part of thd Plymouth support group, Bosom Pals.

:03:18. > :03:22.We have been through different treatments.

:03:23. > :03:27.Breast cancer has many forms and we have about 50 members now and

:03:28. > :03:30.we have enough experience there to pretty much answer any questions.

:03:31. > :03:32.The shoot is a kind of support itself,

:03:33. > :03:42.Sometimes you did not feel like fun, but that is where

:03:43. > :03:44.the group activities help because it can encourage.

:03:45. > :03:46.I could not have got to this stage of my treatment without humour

:03:47. > :03:54.There is a lot of fun to be had before the calendar

:03:55. > :04:04.Two giant steam engines re`lived the days of the

:04:05. > :04:06."Old Granite Road" in west Cornwall this afternoon ` recreating scenes

:04:07. > :04:13.Before the First World War, steam power was used to move largd granite

:04:14. > :04:17.blocks from quarries in the area to the monumental works in Penryn.

:04:31. > :04:35.These kitesurfers and windsurfers were enjoying the

:04:36. > :04:37.windy conditions at Bigbury`on`Sea in South Devon this afternoon.

:04:38. > :04:41.Plenty of people were out enjoying the sunny conditions with

:04:42. > :04:54.the strong wind making it particularly good for kite flying.

:04:55. > :04:58.Especially to swim at a life`guarded beach.

:04:59. > :05:01.We do not recommend to swim anywhere but a life`guarded beach and

:05:02. > :05:03.if anyone's ever unsure then they are more than welcome to cole

:05:04. > :05:07.Well, it's certainly been a bit blustery out there `

:05:08. > :05:11.We have had a fairly blustery day today.

:05:12. > :05:13.The winds are our theme for the weather over

:05:14. > :05:17.They should ease off slightly from what we had today

:05:18. > :05:20.but still a fairly brisk wind throughout tonight and we whll see

:05:21. > :05:22.some showers feeding in through the early hours of the mornhng.

:05:23. > :05:25.Most will be fairly light, we could get the odd heavy one first thing.

:05:26. > :05:27.With all the cloud and the rain though,

:05:28. > :05:30.a fairly mild night with lows of around 13 degrees to 15 degrees.

:05:31. > :05:34.We have got a westerly wind tomorrow fedding

:05:35. > :05:38.There will be some spells of sunshine but it will be `nother

:05:39. > :05:41.Particularly down towards the south coast, here I think wd could

:05:42. > :05:46.So not quite as windy today but still unseasonably windx.

:06:13. > :06:17.parts of the UK, hurricane Bertha has certainly left her mark, in one

:06:18. > :06:20.form or another. The low that sperm from her is now pushing its way on

:06:21. > :06:23.to the North Sea and through the night will keep winds strong and

:06:24. > :06:28.gusty across the country. Some lively showers around as well, wins

:06:29. > :06:30.strengthening through northern Scotland and northern England and

:06:31. > :06:34.this wraparound of a weather front could cause some issues tomorrow.
