:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening. on the BBC News Channel, we are back

:00:11. > :00:12.Experts are warning we could see more incidents

:00:13. > :00:15.of devastating flooding like that at Boscastle in Cornwall.

:00:16. > :00:18.It's ten years ago today since the intense rainfall led to

:00:19. > :00:22.five major incidents being declared and seven helicopters involved

:00:23. > :00:27.Researchers at the Met Office in Exeter have been studying

:00:28. > :00:29.the changing patterns of weather and say more events

:00:30. > :00:37.The signals that we?re showing here are quite consistent with what we

:00:38. > :00:40.would expect to apply across the UK, for these summer downpours

:00:41. > :00:42.associated with intense flash flooding to be more frequent

:00:43. > :00:49.Along with that, we expect winter rainfall to be a become heavy as

:00:50. > :00:53.well and that is something that has been seen for quite some time now in

:00:54. > :00:59.the climate models and we have quite good confidence in that result.

:01:00. > :01:02.A large number of people living in the South West are still failing

:01:03. > :01:04.to protect themselves against skin cancer.

:01:05. > :01:06.A survey by a pharmaceutical firm claims

:01:07. > :01:09.nearly half the people surveyed in Devon ignore signs of sun damage

:01:10. > :01:16.A new campaign's now started to warn gardeners of the potential dangers.

:01:17. > :01:29.This man and his wife know how dangerous the sun can be. He

:01:30. > :01:37.developed a sort that would not heal and it's turned into skin cancer. It

:01:38. > :01:44.is devastating. One doctor said that it was not life`threatening, but I

:01:45. > :01:51.started to think, how much surgery can you go through? A garden centre

:01:52. > :01:55.made peace `` seem a strange venue, but gardeners are at risk. A study

:01:56. > :02:02.of more than 200 people found more than 90% spent time gardening, less

:02:03. > :02:05.than half factor 30 sun cream. The campaign helps people identify when

:02:06. > :02:14.they have a problem. Not all skin cancers look the same. With skin

:02:15. > :02:16.cancer, it is about four times the national average year, we have more

:02:17. > :02:23.UV light and the rest of the country. We have a great opportunity

:02:24. > :02:29.to get outdoors. A lot of people who work here have outdoor lifestyles.

:02:30. > :02:33.All they have lifestyles where they like to go outside when they are not

:02:34. > :02:38.working and all of those are accumulating risk factors. This

:02:39. > :02:41.camera takes photos to show how much sun individual skin has. The

:02:42. > :02:47.organisers hope it will help educate people about the dangers of sunburn.

:02:48. > :02:52.It is important to educate young people. If we can educate at a young

:02:53. > :02:58.age, we can hopefully stop instances in the years to come. If you want to

:02:59. > :03:03.learn more, the campaign is travelling around at the moment.

:03:04. > :03:06.The Devon athlete Jo Pavey has failed to make it a double gold

:03:07. > :03:08.in the 5,000 metres at the European Championships in Zurich.

:03:09. > :03:10.She finished seventh in the event this afternoon.

:03:11. > :03:12.The 40`year`old became the oldest ever female winner at

:03:13. > :03:20.the competition when she took gold in the 10,000 metres on Tuesday.

:03:21. > :03:24.I gave it everything out there and I'm so pleased that I had a go,

:03:25. > :03:30.Thanks to the family, Gav, Emily, Jacob, the physio.

:03:31. > :03:32.I can't be more pleased, to be honest.

:03:33. > :03:35.It is a pleasure to share the track with the younger generation

:03:36. > :03:41.She is half my age and it is just lovely to see her develop

:03:42. > :03:47.Onto sport now, and the results from today's football matches.

:03:48. > :03:50.In League One, it finished Gillingham 2, Yeovil Town 0.

:03:51. > :03:54.In League Two, Plymouth Argyle beat Exeter City 3`0.

:03:55. > :03:56.And in the Football Conference, it finished goalless for

:03:57. > :04:09.We have had some sunshine, but we have some rain in the forecast,

:04:10. > :04:13.They are feeding in on the westerly breeze.

:04:14. > :04:16.Not everywhere will catch a shower, but I think it will be cloudy

:04:17. > :04:20.As a result of the cloud, it'll be a touch more mild than last

:04:21. > :04:26.A disappointing start to the day with a lot of cloud about,

:04:27. > :04:30.some outbreaks of rain, fairly heavy at times over high ground,

:04:31. > :04:34.but I think most of us will just see some light and patchy rain.

:04:35. > :04:36.We should see some brightness come the afternoon.

:04:37. > :04:39.The winds will pick up, though, so I think it will feel noticeably

:04:40. > :04:45.We keep the strength of the winds as we go into next week.

:04:46. > :04:48.We will see some sunshine, but also a mixture of sunny spells

:04:49. > :04:54.That's all the news and weather from us this evening.

:04:55. > :04:58.And in the meantime you can find updates on

:04:59. > :05:15.From all of us here, though, have a lovely evening.

:05:16. > :05:23.The start of the football season reminds us autumn is around the

:05:24. > :05:30.corner and the an autumnal flavour for the next few days. For Sunday,

:05:31. > :05:33.north-westerly winds and some rain. The rain comes from this front

:05:34. > :05:34.crossing through
