:00:14. > :00:22.We'll have details of the batch affected.

:00:23. > :00:29.Tonight shops are already clearing it from their shelves.

:00:30. > :00:36.If you have got a product in your fridge at home, take it back and get

:00:37. > :00:38.a refund. And if you accidentally drink any of it, seek medic`l

:00:41. > :00:42.from pioneering treatment Ross Swift was able to walk

:00:43. > :00:46.his daughter up the aisle, a duty he didn't think he'd be able

:00:47. > :00:49.to carry out. The zoo keeper who taught

:01:00. > :01:02.a batch of milk and cream after revealing there has bden

:01:03. > :01:06.chemical contamination. Lostwithiel based Trewithen dairies

:01:07. > :01:09.says a small amount of industrial cleaning agent has got

:01:10. > :01:12.into some products, dated bdtween 25th and 27th August and it's taking

:01:13. > :01:14.all possible precautions. Our reporter John Henderson is

:01:15. > :01:29.in Lostwithiel. As you said, every day, hundreds of

:01:30. > :01:34.thousands of litres of milk arrives here at this dairy. At the weekend

:01:35. > :01:38.they were aware that there was a problem. Today they started removing

:01:39. > :01:47.some tides of milk and creal from shelves. Contaminated milk on sale

:01:48. > :01:53.in Truro this afternoon. St`ff in a couple of shots became award of a

:01:54. > :01:59.problem when told by BBC Spotlight. It was removed from sale. It came

:02:00. > :02:02.from Trewithin Dairies and the founder of the business said one of

:02:03. > :02:08.the supply farms had a small amount of cleaning fluid which went into

:02:09. > :02:12.the milk. It is a very diluted mixture. And that meant it was very

:02:13. > :02:18.hard to detect it. And that was a problem. It entered the product

:02:19. > :02:25.range and effect did the whole, semi and skimmed milk, dated the 25th and

:02:26. > :02:31.the 26th of this month. Liqtid cream and clotted cream has also been

:02:32. > :02:37.contaminated, dated 26 and 27. All contaminated products have now been

:02:38. > :02:42.withdrawn. Is your milk safd? It is absolutely safe. We are not aware of

:02:43. > :02:48.any health issues at all. Wd know that we want to withdraw thhs

:02:49. > :02:51.particular batch and put out some fresh replacements. It is understood

:02:52. > :02:58.the milk smells and tastes different. Consumers alerted the

:02:59. > :03:02.dairy, which is working with the food standards agency and

:03:03. > :03:06.environmental health. They `re a reputable company. And the food

:03:07. > :03:10.standards agency in London of the people initiating the recall of the

:03:11. > :03:13.product. We should make surd that they have contacted everybody that

:03:14. > :03:18.they have supplied to you to take it off the shelf. Just a few wdeks ago,

:03:19. > :03:22.the company celebrated a 20th anniversary with a visit from the

:03:23. > :03:25.Duchess of Cornwall. The dahry said nothing like this has happened

:03:26. > :03:33.before and it has apologised profusely. Just to reiteratd, the

:03:34. > :03:36.food standards agency has ordered that the company recall all of its

:03:37. > :03:43.milk with a use by date, th`t is the key thing, August 25th and @ugust 26

:03:44. > :03:48.and all of its cream dated the 6 and the 27. It is worth pointing out

:03:49. > :03:52.that they said that it has been contained and that yoghurt, butter,

:03:53. > :04:00.and buttermilk is not affected. The Prime Minister is urging

:04:01. > :04:03.schools in the South West to be more flexible with term timds to

:04:04. > :04:06.allow families who work in the There have been growing calls

:04:07. > :04:09.for change after local councils started imposing fines on p`rents

:04:10. > :04:12.who took breaks during term times. David Cameron was speaking

:04:13. > :04:15.on a visit to Exeter on the day he said all Government policies

:04:16. > :04:28.will in future have to pass Tourism is vital in the south`west

:04:29. > :04:33.economy, accounting for thotsands of jobs. But when do the peopld working

:04:34. > :04:37.in that industry get a break? Many cannot get off in the peak season

:04:38. > :04:41.and the introduction of finds for taking children out of schools has

:04:42. > :04:45.brought a new problem. Debbhe said she cannot afford to close her

:04:46. > :04:49.business for more than a cotple of weeks a year and some of th`t has to

:04:50. > :04:56.be in term time. She was fined for taking her daughter out of school on

:04:57. > :04:59.holiday. I do not think it hs working at all. Obviously there are

:05:00. > :05:03.some parents that are still going to take their child out of school

:05:04. > :05:11.because it is cheaper than the school holidays. It is inconsistent.

:05:12. > :05:20.They need more consistency. Something that the country can

:05:21. > :05:24.follow. And on a visit to Exeter to highlight policies to help families,

:05:25. > :05:27.the prime minister said he understood the problems facdd by

:05:28. > :05:32.people like Debbie. But that children should not miss out on

:05:33. > :05:36.learning. He is hoping schools can spread holidays to help tourism

:05:37. > :05:40.workers. I think the answer is to do what the government is doing, to

:05:41. > :05:46.give schools more freedom to set turn times, holiday dates, half

:05:47. > :05:49.terms. There is a school I have been reading about with a two wedk after

:05:50. > :05:53.allowing parents to get that holiday with their children had a slightly

:05:54. > :05:57.lower cost. Let's use that flexible as the in the system and not spoil

:05:58. > :06:02.education. Parents in Plymotth have backed the Prime Minister. Ht is

:06:03. > :06:10.done in industry and I cannot see why it has to be so black and white

:06:11. > :06:15.with cut off days. If I did it, one week after, it is ?200. It hs a lot

:06:16. > :06:20.of difference. It would be better, for parents. With flexible turn

:06:21. > :06:23.times, it would not necessarily solve all problems. Local schools

:06:24. > :06:26.would have to liaise with e`ch other to make sure that brothers `nd

:06:27. > :06:31.sisters were on holiday at the same time. If they did not, one headache

:06:32. > :06:38.for parents could be replacdd by another.

:06:39. > :06:41.A Devon man with heart failtre who feared he may not live to ghve his

:06:42. > :06:45.daughter away at her wedding says he's been given a new lease of life

:06:46. > :06:48.Ross Swift is the first person in the UK to benefit

:06:49. > :06:51.from a device known as a "stnshine heart", a small balloon fitted

:06:52. > :06:55.inside the body which inflates and deflates to help the he`rt.

:06:56. > :07:01.I would just sit looking out the window,

:07:02. > :07:03.watching the leaves fall, thinking, this is it.

:07:04. > :07:17.One thought kept him going, his daughter's wedding.

:07:18. > :07:23.I think secretly nobody else did either.

:07:24. > :07:27.Thanks to a heart device on the 9th of August he was able to give

:07:28. > :07:34.Walking my daughter down the aisle was just amazing

:07:35. > :07:41.He's the first patient in the UK to receive what is known

:07:42. > :07:48.a device helping the heart to pump blood around the body.

:07:49. > :07:50.I went through agony, as you do in in open surgerx.

:07:51. > :07:59.He had been a leading firefhghter for 22 years and physically fit

:08:00. > :08:03.but on holiday in 2002, he suffered a major heart attack.

:08:04. > :08:06.For 12 years he was in and out of hospitals, eventually behng put

:08:07. > :08:15.A consultant said, we would like to introduce you to

:08:16. > :08:18.the sea pulse, which has never been used in this country, ht will

:08:34. > :08:41.I have to say, I am absolutdly astonished by how good it is.

:08:42. > :08:45.And I am happy that we are successful

:08:46. > :08:49.but I would not have believdd it would have been this dramathc.

:08:50. > :08:52.Ross and his wife Paula feel they have a future again,

:08:53. > :08:54.including enjoying time with their grand daughter

:08:55. > :09:02.I would go to bed at night with this, listening to my heart

:09:03. > :09:16.Some people with Parkinson's disease in the region have been forced into

:09:17. > :09:19.hospital because of a short`ge of a drug used to treat the disease,

:09:20. > :09:24.One woman who lives in Cornwall was even told she would

:09:25. > :09:26.have to find her own supplids of the drug, Amantadine.

:09:27. > :09:28.The manufacturer says a problem with supplies has been fixed.

:09:29. > :09:36.For 18 years she has sufferdd with Parkinson's Disease

:09:37. > :09:44.She lives in Kennington and needs a variety of pills

:09:45. > :09:47.But this summer supplies of the drug called Amantadine have

:09:48. > :09:54.Luckily I found a chemist that had 38 tablets that I

:09:55. > :10:04.But 38 when you take three a day does not last very long.

:10:05. > :10:08.She said if she ran out she would quickly become stiff and in pain.

:10:09. > :10:12.Parkinson's UK said it is deeply concerning.

:10:13. > :10:18.We were told the issue would be resolved in 11 days initially.

:10:19. > :10:21.And we are three months latdr and it is an awful situation.

:10:22. > :10:24.Having to be admitted to hospital and it is not good enough.

:10:25. > :10:27.The company that makes the drug apologised for the shortage

:10:28. > :10:29.caused on the manufacturing side when it was inadvertently closed

:10:30. > :10:35.The company said they are doing everything they can to minilise

:10:36. > :10:53.One in 500 are thought to h`ve the disease.

:10:54. > :10:55.She wants a national reservd of drugs created so something

:10:56. > :10:59.It is not just a case of popping a pill and carryhng on.

:11:00. > :11:06.I need this medication to lhve my life.

:11:07. > :11:09.Two men have been injured at the site of the Beautiful Days

:11:10. > :11:12.The South West Ambulance Service said the men were stuck unddr

:11:13. > :11:15.It happened this morning at Escot Park near Honiton

:11:16. > :11:21.They were flown by air ambulance to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital.

:11:22. > :11:24.Demolition work has started on a number of postwar homes

:11:25. > :11:27.in the Devonport area of Plxmouth to make way for a new developmdnt.

:11:28. > :11:29.Around a hundred properties are behng built

:11:30. > :11:32.with about a third being offered for rent or shared ownership.

:11:33. > :11:35.Some local people fear they could be priced out of the area,

:11:36. > :11:38.but Devon and Cornwall Houshng says it's worked with the communhty to

:11:39. > :11:44.A Devon holiday park which closed last week after an outbreak

:11:45. > :11:51.Staff at the River Dart Country Park have spent days carrying out

:11:52. > :11:54.a deep clean after nearly 100 people fell sick.

:11:55. > :11:57.It's thought the bug was brought onto the site by a holidaym`ker

:11:58. > :12:05.The park caters for up to 700 people at this time of year.

:12:06. > :12:14.The whole site, inside and outside of every building, of every piece of

:12:15. > :12:17.playing equipment has been wiped over and sanitised. We have followed

:12:18. > :12:23.the recommendations of the environmental health officers and we
