:01:39. > :01:43.not made until July. He is finding it hard to adapt to his new
:01:44. > :01:52.surroundings, he has lost hhs peer group. And they had this empathetic
:01:53. > :01:59.link, and that has gone, so he is feeling a little bit lost. H
:02:00. > :02:07.wholeheartedly stand on my fight against the closure. It is
:02:08. > :02:12.ridiculous. It was purely for financial reasons. The council have
:02:13. > :02:21.at least had the courage to admit that. But according to of stirred
:02:22. > :02:24.and other children's charithes, it should not be for financial
:02:25. > :02:30.reasons, it should be for the benefit or the interest of the
:02:31. > :02:36.child. Cornwall Council says the process to
:02:37. > :02:41.close the centres began last autumn, and it has given parents tile to
:02:42. > :02:45.prepare for changes. It also says all of the families have bedn given
:02:46. > :02:49.alternative provision, but there is a difference between what f`milies
:02:50. > :02:53.need and want. A lot of soul`searching goes into making sure
:02:54. > :02:57.we have the best provision for the children. The reality is we have
:02:58. > :03:03.less money to do it. So we have to look at how we do it in a more cost
:03:04. > :03:09.efficient way. This is the reality of what we live
:03:10. > :03:13.in with huge budgetary pressures. Cornwall Council says it has to
:03:14. > :03:17.close St Christophers to save money. Mr Judge says he feels sorrx for the
:03:18. > :03:20.families that will not be able to use this building.
:03:21. > :03:22.Dorset's hospital transport service, recently described as "abyslal"
:03:23. > :03:25.and "a shambles", is now medting almost all required standards
:03:26. > :03:27.The Care Quality Commission says E`zec Medical,
:03:28. > :03:30.the firm that runs the servhce, has made significant improvdments.
:03:31. > :03:33.However, a Dorset patients' group says there are still problels.

:03:53. > :03:58.over the running of hospital transport across the South West In
:03:59. > :04:03.February the CQC found that in Dorset the service was failhng
:04:04. > :04:07.patients and most of the essential standards. There were thous`nds of
:04:08. > :04:13.complaints, people were finding that cars and ambulances were arriving
:04:14. > :04:18.late or not at all. Visions were saying it was intolerable. The firm
:04:19. > :04:21.that runs the service said that they have been overwhelmed because NHS
:04:22. > :04:27.commissioners had underestilated the workload. Now they have another ?1
:04:28. > :04:32.million on top of the ?4 million of the original contract to cope with
:04:33. > :04:37.demand. Today CQC inspectors went back. They say that all essdntial
:04:38. > :04:43.standards are being met apart from one, which is all having `` having
:04:44. > :04:51.all provisions to prescribe medication. The Dorset kidndy fund
:04:52. > :04:57.told us that patients thought problems were far from over. A lot
:04:58. > :05:02.of patients have been use `` losing treatment time. We are hearhng that
:05:03. > :05:07.Haitians are late for treatlent time and time again, and even after
:05:08. > :05:10.treatment there is often not transport available to take them
:05:11. > :05:16.home. `` patients. Dorset hospital say
:05:17. > :05:21.they think that things are luch better. The NHS commissioners say
:05:22. > :05:31.they are working to make sure things get better. Is that appreci`te there
:05:32. > :05:33.is more to do, but they havd appointed a Reno liaising officer to
:05:34. > :05:35.make sure the kidney patients get the transport they need.

:12:14. > :12:16.calls a catastrophic fall in the numbers of barn owls in the county.
:12:17. > :12:20.The problem is widespread across the South West, with a number of factors
:12:21. > :12:31.Our environment correspondent Adrian Campbell has been finding ott more.
:12:32. > :12:38.Barn owls are a majestic sight flying over our fields. But there
:12:39. > :12:44.has been a steep decline in the numbers. The Dorset wildlifd trust
:12:45. > :12:52.says the birds have suffered from erratic weather over the last few
:12:53. > :12:55.years. They listen for their prey, so if you think about rainf`ll on
:12:56. > :13:01.grassland, but will interrupt the noise that small mammals make, so
:13:02. > :13:12.barn owls have been starving to death in the countryside.
:13:13. > :13:16.2013 was the worst record for barn owl populations known.
:13:17. > :13:21.Over recent years farmers h`ve been given financial institution ``
:13:22. > :13:26.incentives to set aside margins of their fields, but that is about to
:13:27. > :13:32.change, making things more difficult for barn owls.
:13:33. > :13:35.The increasing popularity of barn conversions has also reduced the
:13:36. > :13:41.available nesting sites. In Somerset there are plans for a nest rocks in
:13:42. > :13:46.every parish to help. And the Dorset wildlife trust plans to use some of
:13:47. > :13:54.the ?26,000 already raised to provide more boxes. The appdal has
:13:55. > :13:57.brought in money, but also dxtra requests for boxes. Loads of
:13:58. > :14:03.communities are keen to provide habitat for barn owls, so wd have
:14:04. > :14:07.volunteers making them. The predatory bird monitoring scheme
:14:08. > :14:12.says more than 90% of birds found dead in 2010 contain traces of rat
:14:13. > :14:16.poison. But the NFU says farmers take their responsibilities
:14:17. > :14:21.seriously and many exceed what is required by law. The winter floods
:14:22. > :14:27.means `` meant barn owls lost their winter supplies of mice.
:14:28. > :14:35.Just 24 hours after the training bases were revdaled in
:14:36. > :14:39.the South West for next year's Rugby World Cup, one of them has been
:14:40. > :14:43.The University of St Mark and St John in Plymouth was, perhaps,
:14:44. > :14:46.But as Andy Breare reports, they have a vital new facilhty

:19:57. > :20:00.demonstrate it has reached the sort of standards which her Majesty's

:20:02. > :20:13.these standards. We act as the Today, the National Coastwatch
:20:14. > :20:19.Institution celebrated its 20 years by opening a new visitor centre here
:20:20. > :20:24.in Torbay. It gives members of the public a chance to see and
:20:25. > :20:28.understand what they do. Thdy have raised money locally to put it
:20:29. > :20:36.together, supported by the lottery fund. We have to raise the loney, we
