:05:13. > :05:16.Lynne Hall's rescue charity, K9 Focus, is asked by dog pounds

:05:17. > :05:19.to take at least 30 dogs, with another five to seven

:05:20. > :05:28.We have more dogs coming in that are abandoned in this country.

:05:29. > :05:32.We have a lack of funds and on top of it we have the problem of dogs

:05:33. > :05:34.coming in from abroad, which seems to have doubled

:05:35. > :05:36.from previous years, and I don't know where we're

:05:37. > :05:43.We just cannot offer homes to all these dogs.

:05:44. > :05:46.Des and Penny Matthews got their two rescue dogs from abroad.

:05:47. > :05:49.We do understand in this country there is lots of dogs but they do

:05:50. > :05:52.have a better life than these type of dogs in Hungary.

:05:53. > :05:55.You know, they have nowhere to go, so if they're not put out

:05:56. > :05:58.for fostering and somebody adopts them then, you know,

:05:59. > :06:03.I think what people don't realise is that in this country we're

:06:04. > :06:06.putting a dog to sleep every two hours and we just don't

:06:07. > :06:09.have the homes for them, so that every dog that comes in,

:06:10. > :06:15.one of our dogs here is actually being put to sleep.

:06:16. > :06:23.This dog's ears and tail were cut off when she was in Lithuania

:06:24. > :06:26.and after six months in K9 Focus kennels she still has no home.

:06:27. > :06:29.A grey seal pup found close to death on Jersey's north coast has been

:06:30. > :06:35.flown to Guernsey to be looked after in a special facility.

:06:36. > :06:38.The three-week-old pup was found on Bonne Nuit Bay on Tuesday

:06:39. > :06:43.and will now spend the New Year with the GSPCA.

:06:44. > :06:46.The Channel Islands marine rescue team says lifting him from the beach

:06:47. > :06:48.was a life-saving operation as he was undernourished

:06:49. > :06:51.and will need treatment in the months ahead.
