:00:16. > :00:18.put at risk by a plan to move vital machinery to Poland,

:00:19. > :00:21.according to the former liberal Democrat Leader Lord Ashdown.

:00:22. > :00:25.His claims comes as aerospace company GKN closes its site this

:00:26. > :00:28.month - with the loss of more than 200 jobs.

:00:29. > :00:34.In a matter of days, this factory will close.

:00:35. > :00:38.The company GKN saying it's simply no longer viable.

:00:39. > :00:40.But it is what happens to the manufacturing

:00:41. > :00:45.equipment inside there which is now at the centre of a political storm,

:00:46. > :00:47.with the former Liberal Democrat leader arguing that if it's shipped

:00:48. > :00:52.to Poland, and that is one option, then it could signal the

:00:53. > :00:59.beginning of the end for helicopter manufacturing here in Somerset.

:01:00. > :01:02.GKN make airframes for the Royal Navy's

:01:03. > :01:08.new Wildcat helicopter under license to Leonardo Helicopters next door.

:01:09. > :01:11.When Leonardo, formerly Augusta Westland, decided to take

:01:12. > :01:14.that work back in-house, that effectively

:01:15. > :01:21.Now the company is considering moving the

:01:22. > :01:29.manufacturing kit to a factory it ends in Poland.

:01:30. > :01:30.Lord Ashdown says the government could and

:01:31. > :01:38.Not least because the kit is actually owned by the Ministry

:01:39. > :01:41.I think we are in danger of undermining the long-term viability

:01:42. > :01:44.of the Yeovil site, which has served the nation for 100 years,

:01:45. > :01:47.in being able to make our own aircraft, in this case helicopters.

:01:48. > :01:49.But Lord Ashdown has been accused of exaggerating the threat.

:01:50. > :01:52.The local Conservative MP says he too is

:01:53. > :01:56.lobbying the company to keep the manufacturing kit in the UK.

:01:57. > :01:59.He says no final decision's been made.

:02:00. > :02:00.But it's the government's job to tell

:02:01. > :02:19.It is worth remembering also that unless there

:02:20. > :02:21.are Wildcat borders, then there is no Wildcat

:02:22. > :02:23.And what the government has been working

:02:24. > :02:26.really hard on is working with the company to help garner

:02:27. > :02:28.those export orders in all different parts of the

:02:29. > :02:31.So far, the company has refused to comment.

:02:32. > :02:34.Now, there are rumours it may enacting a new

:02:35. > :02:35.foreign order for the Wildcat in January.

:02:36. > :02:38.If that is true, where the airframes will be made clearly is

:02:39. > :02:42.A Devon mother who has stage four breast cancer says she's overwhelmed

:02:43. > :02:45.by the kindness of people who have raised money to help fund private

:02:54. > :03:00.It is a rare and aggressive form that can have a high

:03:01. > :03:06.And it has come back and spread into her spine and ribs.

:03:07. > :03:09.Having run out of options for NHS treatment, they learned

:03:10. > :03:14.of pioneering work in Germany which could help, but at

:03:15. > :03:22.Friends, family and complete strangers have come to their aid.

:03:23. > :03:29.Over two thirds of the money has been raised, enabling Kim

:03:30. > :03:35.You kind of have to try and get used to it,

:03:36. > :03:37.but you feel overwhelmed a lot, really.

:03:38. > :03:39.And obviously walking around the village knowing that everyone

:03:40. > :03:44.It has just given me hope, really, that we can do this.

:03:45. > :03:49.It was great to get over to Germany as quickly as we did do as well.

:03:50. > :03:51.And early signs are that the treatment is working.

:03:52. > :03:54.In the heart of the village, you can see the support

:03:55. > :03:57.the family are getting from the local community.

:03:58. > :04:01.It's really important for us to raise money for people

:04:02. > :04:05.within the community and Kim has got quite a drastic need,

:04:06. > :04:08.so we decided the pub is the perfect place to raise money.

:04:09. > :04:11.I would just like to say a really massive thank you to everyone that

:04:12. > :04:15.has helped support us and raise money for us and all of the really

:04:16. > :04:24.And now a round up of some of the other stories

:04:29. > :04:32.It was found in a Wigeon, and is the same strain

:05:16. > :05:22.Cue Card is hoping to complete the second part of a big-race treble

:05:23. > :05:29.But stable-mate Thistlecrack could jeopardise those chances.

:05:30. > :05:33.We have to treat both horses as individuals.

:05:34. > :05:47.People bring in the ?1 million bonus and we might be the

:05:48. > :05:49.people that take that opportunity with Thistlecrack,

:05:50. > :05:53.with individual separate owners and they have to be treated fairly.

:05:54. > :05:56.Now for a look at the weather over Christmas.

:05:57. > :06:00.The weather is making news across the
