:00:52. > :00:52.for the night on Christmas when an armed robber threatened his mother
:00:53. > :00:53.at gunpoint. He was initially flown
:00:54. > :00:59.from Antigua to Guadeloupe for specialist treatment -
:01:00. > :01:02.and his flight home has taken 19 hrs because of the short hops they have
:01:03. > :01:12.had to make due to the nature It was also thrown at low altitude
:01:13. > :01:20.because of the pressure in his head. -- slogan.
:01:21. > :01:23.Chris's sister, Vicki Tester has been speaking today
:01:24. > :01:32.He doesn't really obviously, you know, it took nearly a day
:01:33. > :01:38.We don't really know the full extent, long-term,
:01:39. > :01:53.I mean, have they given you any idea as to what might happen or how long
:01:54. > :02:05.Because of the extent of his injuries, it is his brain
:02:06. > :02:06.potentially, his eyes, also reconstruction to his face,
:02:07. > :02:19.I think the main point is that he is stable
:02:20. > :02:22.and there is nothing that they urgently need
:02:23. > :02:29.to operate on when he arrived, which was a good sign.
:02:30. > :02:34.How have your parents cope with all of this?
:02:35. > :02:41.My mum is the strongest woman I think I have ever seen.
:02:42. > :02:45.And my dad, he has been with him the whole way and sat with him
:02:46. > :02:48.in that air ambulance the whole time.
:02:49. > :02:59.As any parent would, they are doing everything they can.
:03:00. > :03:02.There has been an incredible rallying around, hasn't there,
:03:03. > :03:07.What would you want to say to the people that have helped?
:03:08. > :03:13.All of us, we are so, so, so grateful.
:03:14. > :03:15.And the people from, you know, Chris's life
:03:16. > :03:17.that have known him, back at school, people that
:03:18. > :03:19.know him now from his work, socialising when he goes out,
:03:20. > :03:42.Brenton Henry is a journalist with the Antigua Observer newspaper.
:03:43. > :03:47.He told us what reaction there'd been to the shooting.
:03:48. > :03:52.Well, there has been a tremendous expression of goodwill
:03:53. > :03:55.and sympathy towards the family, but also a level of shock
:03:56. > :03:57.and disappointment, especially that this happened to a visitor
:03:58. > :04:04.What sort of investigation is going on at the moment into the shooting?
:04:05. > :04:07.Lawmen have appealed to members of the public who may know something
:04:08. > :04:13.However no one has been charged in connection
:04:14. > :04:17.with that crime as yet, and no one is in custody
:04:18. > :04:19.at present assisting lawmen with the investigation,
:04:20. > :04:26.And it appears that they have very few leads to follow so far, at least
:04:27. > :04:32.I don't know if you know the cafe itself, but what about
:04:33. > :04:36.Give us an idea of what that neighbourhood is like.
:04:37. > :04:38.Antigua is a relatively small community, but even
:04:39. > :04:40.by Antigua's standards, Old Road, the community of Old Road
:04:41. > :04:43.would be considered far and rural part of Antigua and popular.
:04:44. > :05:00.I mean, in terms of the level of this crime, the shooting,
:05:01. > :05:02.how often does this sort of incident happen in Antigua?
:05:03. > :05:13.I mean, Antigua has had a past where visitors have run into trouble
:05:14. > :05:15.with local criminals, yes, but that sort of thing does not
:05:16. > :05:20.happen often at all, and so that is why this particular
:05:21. > :05:23.incident came as a shock to many residents and visitors.
:05:24. > :05:25.It is largely unheard of here in Antigua that something
