:00:16. > :00:17.Labour councillor Jonny Morris has been suspended from his party's

:00:18. > :00:23.group on the Council, but is now facing calls to resign.

:00:24. > :00:28.Councillor Jonny Morris has been feeling the heat ever

:00:29. > :00:30.since the moment in this meeting to discuss raising council tax

:00:31. > :00:34.when he decided to demonstrate his annoyance at proceedings

:00:35. > :00:51.Somebody does something like that in this chamber...

:00:52. > :01:01.Amid outrage in the meeting, action was swiftly taken.

:01:02. > :01:09.Afterwards, the leader of the Council's Labour Group

:01:10. > :01:15.Straightaway after the meeting, Councillor Morris was

:01:16. > :01:20.immediately suspended, aubject to an investigation.

:01:21. > :01:24.So we have acted as swiftly and as firmly as we possibly can,

:01:25. > :01:29.because we take this sort of thing very seriously.

:01:30. > :01:31.But one of Plymouth's MPs says the Labour Party hasn't been strong

:01:32. > :01:35.enough in its condemnation of the salute.

:01:36. > :01:38.This individual has done a Nazi salute in the elected

:01:39. > :01:42.chamber during the middle of a council meeting.

:01:43. > :01:46.And, you know, I'm ashamed this has happened in Plymouth.

:01:47. > :01:48.And when this happens, you need strong leadership

:01:49. > :01:50.and people to get out there and actually say,

:01:51. > :01:52.this is unacceptable, this guy doesn't represent

:01:53. > :01:56.what we stand for in the Labour Party.

:01:57. > :01:58.Councillor Morris told the BBC that he made what he called

:01:59. > :02:01.the inappropriate and offensive gesture because he was very

:02:02. > :02:04.angry that the debate about whether to raise council tax

:02:05. > :02:08.was, as he saw it, being closed down, with other councillors

:02:09. > :02:12.He said he let that anger get the better of him,

:02:13. > :02:18.Devon and Cornwall Police have said they are treating yesterday's

:02:19. > :02:21.incident as a possible public order offence.

:02:22. > :02:24.They are now making further enquiries before deciding

:02:25. > :02:29.Chloe Axford, BBC Spotlight, Plymouth.

:02:30. > :02:33.Our Political Editor Martyn Oates is at Westminster.

:02:34. > :02:36.The mere act of giving a Nazi salute is a criminal offence

:02:37. > :02:41.That's not the case in Britain, but clearly anything

:02:42. > :02:46.associated with Nazism is toxic and embarrassing.

:02:47. > :02:49.It remains to be seen of course what the upshot of this internal

:02:50. > :02:53.Labour Party investigation is in Plymouth, although it might be

:02:54. > :02:56.observed in passing that Councillor Morris is no

:02:57. > :03:01.During the 2014 local election campaign in Plymouth,

:03:02. > :03:06.he tweeted a picture of a defaced Ukip poster with the comment,

:03:07. > :03:12.From the Labour Party's point of view, in Plymouth,

:03:13. > :03:18.the Labour Group leader Tudor Evans has reflected today

:03:19. > :03:20.that this is an unwelcome distraction to say the least

:03:21. > :03:22.from the mainstream political debate.

:03:23. > :03:26.He had hoped to be commenting on and criticising the budget

:03:27. > :03:28.which the Conservative and Ukip administration passed yesterday

:03:29. > :03:34.Instead, he is in a position of having to defend one

:03:35. > :03:42.In other news, a manager and the owners of a Cornish pub have

:03:43. > :03:45.been fined following the death of a woman from food poisoning.

:03:46. > :03:50.71-year-old Christine Morgan had lunch at the Clock and Key

:03:51. > :03:55.She died on the way to hospital the following night.

:03:56. > :03:59.John Danks reports from Truro Crown Court.

:04:00. > :04:04.Christine Morgan had gone to the Clock and Key pub

:04:05. > :04:07.with her husband and cousin on the 11th of August 2015.

:04:08. > :04:11.She ate roast lamb, but soon after, she began to feel unwell.

:04:12. > :04:14.The court heard that Mrs Morgan suffered vomiting and diarrhoea.

:04:15. > :04:17.Her condition worsened, and she died in an ambulance en

:04:18. > :04:24.We were able to secure a quantity of lamb that was served to the party

:04:25. > :04:30.That was then subsequently sent off to Public Health England

:04:31. > :04:35.They isolated a type of food poisoning called Clostridium

:04:36. > :04:40.Diane Burrow from Bude who was the pub's kitchen

:04:41. > :04:43.manager at the time, was fined ?750 after pleading

:04:44. > :04:46.guilty to breaching food hygiene regulations.

:04:47. > :04:48.The pub owners, Lake Inns and Leisure Limited,

:04:49. > :04:53.was handed down fines and costs totalling more than ?40,000.

:04:54. > :04:56.In this case, there were multiple failures,

:04:57. > :04:58.possible failure to cook properly, failure to cool properly,

:04:59. > :05:05.Judge Simon Carr said there were systems in place,

:05:06. > :05:08.probably in a brightly-coloured file on a shelf in the kitchen,

:05:09. > :05:13.Food safety was considered, he said, but not sufficiently emphasised.

:05:14. > :05:17.There was simply no supervision and control for food handling.

:05:18. > :05:20.We encourage food business operators to always be vigilant.

:05:21. > :05:23.Whilst that risk exists, we say, when our inspectors come round,

:05:24. > :05:27.we're here to help you, we're here to give you advice.

:05:28. > :05:29.Listen to that advice, act on that advice, and these sorts

:05:30. > :05:41.John Danks, BBC Spotlight, at Truro Crown Court.

:05:42. > :05:43.The red deer of Exmoor are being targeted by

:05:44. > :05:45.organised gangs of poachers. Exmoor National Park says it's

:05:46. > :05:50.concerned by a marked increase in the number of deer being killed,

:05:51. > :05:56.This week, park rangers are conducting a survey of the deer

:05:57. > :06:04.Long gone are the days of that romantic notion of a poacher

:06:05. > :06:06.going out and having one for the pot.

:06:07. > :06:09.The price of venison has increased, the demand for venison has

:06:10. > :06:11.increased, hence we seem to have these organised gangs coming

:06:12. > :06:15.in and targeting our red deer population.

:06:16. > :06:18.A couple who built their own mud house in North Devon have been told

:06:19. > :06:22.Kate Burrows says she's allergic to modern life and can't return

:06:23. > :06:29.But the Council says the building is in breach of planning rules.

:06:30. > :06:35.You have to look closely, but there are people

:06:36. > :06:45.Being plugged into a virtual reality machine, that's not normal life.

:06:46. > :06:49.We're collecting water, we're chopping wood,

:06:50. > :06:53.Kate and Alan may be hidden from view, but they are still

:06:54. > :06:57.You can't, of course, just put up a house where you want.

:06:58. > :06:59.This is our nest, this is our everything.

:07:00. > :07:06.We've sculpted it with our hands from the soil.

:07:07. > :07:09.If it is the good life, it doesn't come easy.

:07:10. > :07:13.They have to keep on topping up the mud used to build their home.

:07:14. > :07:15.But for Kate, it's a much better life than she had before.

:07:16. > :07:18.She goes as far as saying that modern day living

:07:19. > :07:24.I think it was the water and the electricity and the Wi-Fi

:07:25. > :07:27.and the paint on the walls and, you know, a build-up.

:07:28. > :07:34.I didn't realise how ill I was until we moved here,

:07:35. > :07:42.There are now many medical conditions, so is this one of them?

:07:43. > :07:45.Can you be intolerant to the modern day?

:07:46. > :07:47.Some doctors believe you can, but the NHS doesn't

:07:48. > :07:55.Multiple chemical sensitivity is a condition where the body's

:07:56. > :07:59.immune and detoxification pathways become overloaded.

:08:00. > :08:02.We've got people that simply find they have an allergic reaction

:08:03. > :08:06.to bleach and try to avoid perfumes and traffic fumes.

:08:07. > :08:09.Living in an ordinary house, especially a new build or a house

:08:10. > :08:12.that has just been decorated furnished, it becomes a big problem.

:08:13. > :08:15.But it's not the medical landscape which is important here.

:08:16. > :08:31.And the local authority says they've got to abide by the law.

:08:32. > :08:40.Kate points to examples in Wales where the One Planet planning laws

:08:41. > :08:41.can allow low impact homes like theirs.

:08:42. > :08:45.Even if we lose everything here, I feel it's really important

:08:46. > :08:48.for people like us to be able to live on their own land

:08:49. > :08:51.sustainably without creating any damage.

:08:52. > :08:54.But having lost all their appeals, the couple now have

:08:55. > :09:03.Jonathan Morris, BBC Spotlight, River Cross Meadow.

:09:04. > :09:08.There was only one win for our main football teams this evening.

:09:09. > :09:10.Plymouth Argyle were hoping to end their run of Tuesday evening

:09:11. > :09:13.defeats, but lost 1-0 at home to struggling Notts County.

:09:14. > :09:15.Exeter returned to winning, with a 2-1 victory away to Crawley.

:09:16. > :09:18.The first win in five games for the Grecians.

:09:19. > :09:21.And it was a goaless draw for Yeovil at home to Mansfield.

:09:22. > :09:23.In the National League, Torquay's game aginst Solihull Moors

:09:24. > :09:30.was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

:09:31. > :09:42.Thank you, Claire. Good evening. Meteorologically speaking, this day

:09:43. > :09:47.is the last day of winter. And winter it certainly has been. We

:09:48. > :09:52.have had snow in quite a few places, a dusting over the high ground of

:09:53. > :09:57.Dartmoor, and some also in Somerset, where we saw a thick layer briefly

:09:58. > :10:02.this morning. The snow has now moulded, and it is likely less cold

:10:03. > :10:07.air arriving tomorrow, most that falls out of the sky will be rain.

:10:08. > :10:11.Patchy rain, less windy, a little bit brighter later in the day. The

:10:12. > :10:15.winds increase as we move into tomorrow evening. A couple of

:10:16. > :10:18.weather fronts and a small area of low pressure developing in the

:10:19. > :10:21.English Channel tomorrow, bringing us rain. Once the area of low

:10:22. > :10:25.pressure moves away, the winds become quite strong, reaching gale

:10:26. > :10:29.force tomorrow evening, a blustery end to the day and a blustery night

:10:30. > :10:33.tomorrow night and into the early hours of Thursday. There are a few

:10:34. > :10:37.showers around this evening, but they are very afflicted. For many of

:10:38. > :10:40.us it is a dry night, winds continuing to drop, temperatures

:10:41. > :10:45.getting down to just two or three degrees in a few places. Patchy rain

:10:46. > :10:49.moving across the south-west tomorrow morning. Brighter later in

:10:50. > :10:54.the day. But also becoming windy. Have a good night. Thank you, David.

:10:55. > :10:55.Spotlight's back in Breakfast from 6:25am.

:10:56. > :11:05.From the late team, have a good night.

:11:06. > :11:11.Good evening. We are about to head into March, the days are getting

:11:12. > :11:15.longer, but are they getting any warmer? Not really. We will get

:11:16. > :11:19.there in the end, but we will have to be patient, not very springlike

:11:20. > :11:23.at the moment. Some showers scattered around across England and

:11:24. > :11:27.Wales will tend to diminish in number, a few left behind, wintry

:11:28. > :11:32.showers across the north of Scotland, snow at low-level is, ice

:11:33. > :11:36.as well as temperatures fall close to freezing. A cold night with a

:11:37. > :11:43.touch of frost in a number of places. Plenty of sunshine across

:11:44. > :11:46.southern areas first of all, but it will not last, rain spilling from

:11:47. > :11:49.the south, the best brightness and eventually further north across the

:11:50. > :11:50.UK. Mostly
