:00:56. > :00:58.In four years, we've had between 30 and 35 admissions to hospital

:02:00. > :02:13.I don't know if my daughter is going to be alive or dead.

:02:42. > :02:44.Controversial plans for a ?4 million whiskey distillery at Princetown

:02:47. > :02:48.Dozens of objections were raised by residents concerned

:02:49. > :02:53.Others, however, backed the plan by Princetown Distilleries Limited,

:02:54. > :03:02.saying it would bring a much needed boost to the local economy.

:03:03. > :03:04.Traditional cider makers in the South West fear they could be

:03:05. > :03:07.hit with tax increases as a result of new government proposals

:03:08. > :03:09.to tackle the abuse of cheap, high-alcohol brands.

:03:10. > :03:13.The government says it appreciates the important role artisan cider

:03:14. > :03:19.makers play in the rural economy and doesn't want them to suffer -

:03:20. > :03:22.but cider makers fear it won't be that simple.

:03:23. > :03:27.Here's our Political Editor, Martyn Oates.

:03:28. > :03:30.Not for the first time, the government has cheap,

:03:31. > :03:35.Mass produced high-strength white cider is

:03:36. > :03:39.associated by public health organisations with problem drinking.

:03:40. > :03:43.But a cider with 7.5% alcohol attracts the same level of duty

:03:44. > :03:52.The government's now considering a duty increase

:03:53. > :03:57.It's going to be dispatched later on this week.

:03:58. > :04:00.The Treasury also says it wants to avoid any impact on traditional

:04:01. > :04:07.This white cider would be regarded by artisan cider makers as very

:04:08. > :04:09.different from the products they make.

:04:10. > :04:12.But there is one obvious similarity - the strength.

:04:13. > :04:21.If you look at this artisan cider from a

:04:22. > :04:23.well-known Somerset producer, the strength is in 7.4.

:04:24. > :04:29.The strongest cider made here is still a hefty 6.5.

:04:30. > :04:33.Traditionally, English cider tends to be pretty potent.

:04:34. > :04:35.So it's difficult to see how, if the government increases duty

:04:36. > :04:37.based on strength alone, it can avoid clobbering

:04:38. > :04:46.But could the solution perhaps lie here, in the orchard?

:04:47. > :04:49.After all, artisan cider makers say it's the

:04:50. > :04:54.high apple juice content which makes their cider special.

:04:55. > :04:56.I'm just suggesting that you could invoke a percentage,

:04:57. > :04:59.a minimal percentage of apple juice in your cider.

:05:00. > :05:01.And at the moment, I'm saying it's very, very low.

:05:02. > :05:04.It could be raised up, and that would protect our interests.

:05:05. > :05:06.Cider makers now have until June to make this,

:05:07. > :05:12.or other suggestions, to the government.

:05:13. > :05:15.Tonight is the last night on the streets for a vicar

:05:16. > :05:18.from Devon who decided he'd sleep rough for Lent.

:05:19. > :05:21.Father Gary Deighton, who's the vicar of St George's

:05:22. > :05:24.in Goodrington, wanted to raise money and awareness

:05:25. > :05:34.It's been much worse than I thought it was going to be.

:05:35. > :05:37.I thought the real issue would be the cold and the wet.

:05:38. > :05:40.And the cold and the wet is bad, but actually, what's really bad

:05:41. > :05:43.is just the kind of low level of fear you've got.

:05:44. > :05:49.Any noise, any tin can, any whistling in the wind,

:05:50. > :05:52.and straightaway, you're alert and worried that something

:05:53. > :06:05.lets get the weekend weather now from Dan.

:06:06. > :06:11.Good evening. It's been a fine end to the day, but with mostly clear

:06:12. > :06:14.skies it does mean a cold start to the weekend. Same fine and dry.

:06:15. > :06:20.Warmer than the past couple of days with a lot of sunshine around, too.

:06:21. > :06:24.High-pressure edges away slightly to the east during Sunday allowing this

:06:25. > :06:28.were different to come in through Monday, turning in cloudy and cold

:06:29. > :06:32.again. The bulk of the rain is looking to be -- but the bulk of the

:06:33. > :06:35.weekend is looking to be fine and dry. More in the way of mist and fog

:06:36. > :06:42.patches forming, particularly to the East, overnight. Temperatures

:06:43. > :06:49.reaching lows of 2-3 Celsius. The risk of some patchy frost. We start

:06:50. > :06:53.off with one or two patchy fog areas that they will clear. The rest of

:06:54. > :06:58.the day looks fine and bright. Hardly a cloud in the sky for many

:06:59. > :07:02.of us. With warm air coming from the south, temperatures could hit 17-18

:07:03. > :07:08.Celsius. Into Sunday, generally fine and bright. We Katie Clark pushing

:07:09. > :07:12.into the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall into the afternoon. -- we

:07:13. > :07:19.could see cloud pushing into the Isles of Scilly. We could see 19

:07:20. > :07:21.Celsius. It is change into Monday. Turning cloudy and also feeling that

:07:22. > :07:23.much cooler with temperatures nearer to the average for this time of

:07:24. > :07:24.year. The next Spotlight

:07:25. > :07:33.is tomorrow at 18:45. Monday, and north-westerly wind will

:07:34. > :07:40.drag in more cloud and temperatures will be down by 8-9 .

:07:41. > :07:45.Hello, my advice would be to make the most of the weather this

:07:46. > :07:49.weekend, if you can. Because there will be a good day love sunshine on

:07:50. > :07:54.offer and it will continue to warm up as well. This picture was taken

:07:55. > :07:56.in Cumbria, at Workington, later in the afternoon. We
