:03:11. > :03:12.Our health correspondent Jenny Walrond joins me,

:03:13. > :03:37.Some good jobs with the new provider company Mac but with Unison

:03:38. > :03:41.describes as less favourable terms and conditions. Some got jobs with

:03:42. > :03:44.south-western ambience at Unison says some of them had different

:03:45. > :03:48.terms and conditions. The union claims that should have been

:03:49. > :03:54.protected under employment legislation but talks through the

:03:55. > :03:58.arbitration service Acas failed to reach a resolution on this and there

:03:59. > :04:01.are Unison has issued legal proceedings against the three

:04:02. > :04:08.organisations. It says workers have suffered through no fault of their

:04:09. > :04:09.own. The case is ongoing and Devon Doctors, Vocare and south-west of

:04:10. > :04:13.ambulance at yet to respond. Farmers in Somerset say they're

:04:25. > :04:27.message service, police hope The farmers have been

:04:28. > :04:33.asking us for some time. We've had a farm watch

:04:34. > :04:35.system for several years where we communicate with them

:04:36. > :04:38.via text, and we get messages out to them very quickly

:04:39. > :04:40.by text and e-mail. For several years they've been

:04:41. > :04:43.saying to us, we want to come back to you, we want to give

:04:44. > :04:45.you information back. We haven't had the facility for them

:04:46. > :04:48.to do that as quickly, so we launched this text back system

:04:49. > :04:51.on Tuesday, 81819, where the farmers and the rural community can text us

:04:52. > :04:54.with any intelligence There's a warning to bird owners

:04:55. > :05:01.in the South West this lunchtime from the Government's Chief

:05:02. > :05:03.Veterinary Officer, Nigel Gibbens, Some poultry have been spotted

:05:04. > :05:08.outdoors in the region and this Those who let their birds out risk

:05:09. > :05:14.unlimited fines or even, jail. Our Environment Correspondent,

:05:15. > :05:19.Adrian Campbell, reports. Nigel Stevens is very

:05:20. > :05:22.careful about bio-security He has put up the poly tunnel

:05:23. > :05:28.to ensure they can't come into contact with wild birds

:05:29. > :05:30.or their droppings which might Defra introduced strict

:05:31. > :05:37.controls in December - they're still in force but Nigel

:05:38. > :05:42.says they are very confusing. As to whether you should keep them

:05:43. > :05:46.in cages but have a roof properly plasticed over,

:05:47. > :05:51.it's all a bit of guesswork really. We went out and put up

:05:52. > :05:55.a temporary poly tunnel to house ours in which does the job

:05:56. > :05:58.and still gives them You don't have to look far to see

:05:59. > :06:02.there is widespread confusion We filmed these birds

:06:03. > :06:08.a week ago in east Devon. They should have been covered over

:06:09. > :06:11.to protect them from the virus. Their owners told us they have

:06:12. > :06:14.since been advised by trading standards that everyone must comply

:06:15. > :06:17.with the law. The Government's chief

:06:18. > :06:20.veterinary officer agrees. This particular strain isn't

:06:21. > :06:24.a problem for people or for the food chain but it is very severe

:06:25. > :06:26.in birds, especially chickens and turkeys but also potentially

:06:27. > :06:30.ducks and geese causing severe It's not just hens and it's

:06:31. > :06:39.not just in East Devon. Birds which should be undercover can

:06:40. > :06:43.easily be found in the countryside. The owners of these birds told us

:06:44. > :06:46.they needed to be outside But even people like Nigel

:06:47. > :06:52.who are doing the right thing say I don't think I know

:06:53. > :06:58.who is policing it at all. I don't know whether Defra

:06:59. > :07:01.know who is policing it. But Defra insists we all

:07:02. > :07:03.have an obligation to inform Trading Standards where the law

:07:04. > :07:28.is being broken. weather. The photo is a little bit

:07:29. > :07:32.like a rainbow but because the droplets are smaller than in rain in

:07:33. > :07:42.the colours get muted so it looks quite instead of the normal bright

:07:43. > :07:46.colours. It's very exciting. Thank you to Dorset Phantom for that

:07:47. > :07:52.lovely photo. Through this afternoon we have bright weather for most,

:07:53. > :07:56.Dorset still a bit of fog but good sunshine and quite breezy and that

:07:57. > :08:01.is because high pressure is slapping away and continues into tomorrow so

:08:02. > :08:06.brisk cold southerly winds feeling very nippy indeed and that low cloud

:08:07. > :08:11.and for the class Dorset and lifts a bit more. Plenty of sunshine for

:08:12. > :08:16.most through this morning and afternoon and some cloud to the

:08:17. > :08:19.west. A breezy wind especially for western areas with temperatures are

:08:20. > :08:23.doing fairly well and that sunshine. Tonight more cloud coming in

:08:24. > :08:30.bringing a risk of a little patchy rain and drizzle and maybe a few

:08:31. > :08:33.flurries of light snow. Not very much and you may believe in a notice

:08:34. > :08:38.but if you see something a little height that will be what it is. The

:08:39. > :08:42.risk of some nice as well as temperatures drop towards freezing.

:08:43. > :08:47.Tomorrow a cold start with strong south of south-easterly winds for

:08:48. > :08:51.western fringes and we should find skies are brightening up as we head

:08:52. > :08:56.through the day. Some sunny spells emerging but it will feel like a

:08:57. > :09:02.cold day when you factor in the wind the highs of five or 6 degrees will

:09:03. > :09:05.feel law. For the Channel Islands some ice initially and a dry and

:09:06. > :09:09.sunny day with good spells of sunshine but feeling cold and a

:09:10. > :09:12.fresh wind and we see some outbreaks of rain for Friday, Saturday with

:09:13. > :09:20.the risk of Henry Thunder showers but drier and brighter.

:09:21. > :09:23.I'll be back with Victoria Graham for more on that and all the latest

:09:24. > :09:25.news from the South West in Spotlight tonight at 6.30,

:09:26. > :09:43.but from the lunchtime news, have a very good afternoon.

:09:44. > :09:46.Should've seen Hillary's face. She was stood there with Bill.

:09:47. > :09:53.Because she's going to an event to celebrate

:09:54. > :09:59.a job that she didn't get and the person closest to her, to reassure

:10:00. > :10:02.her, to tell her it's going to be OK,

:10:03. > :10:05.is a person who's already had that job.

:10:06. > :10:13.Yeah. She must be thinking, "Where can I go?"

:10:14. > :10:25.It's just pain, but it doesn't feel like pain,

:10:26. > :10:28.it feels much more violent, dark and exciting.
