:00:11. > :00:12.Hello from Spotlight. at a quarter past ten -

:00:13. > :00:14.Hundreds of people have been marching through Paignton today

:00:15. > :00:16.in protest at plans to close four cottage hospitals.

:00:17. > :00:23.Health bosses argue the hospitals don't meet the needs

:00:24. > :00:47.The message is clear. These people don't want to lose their hospitals

:00:48. > :00:50.in Paignton, and the other areas. There is only one road into Wrexham

:00:51. > :00:54.and it is so difficult to get down that way and so hard to park when we

:00:55. > :00:58.get there. There don't seem to be any good enough reasons to shut

:00:59. > :01:03.Paignton hospital. I feel very disappointed that it has got this

:01:04. > :01:05.far and I just trust that the evidence of all the people who are

:01:06. > :01:14.marching today will make a difference. Today's march was

:01:15. > :01:21.organised by Torbay's trade union Council. Privatising patients by

:01:22. > :01:28.putting them in care homes is not a way forward. It is privatising the

:01:29. > :01:34.elderly and the patients. It is not the way forward. In a statement, the

:01:35. > :01:37.clinical commissioning group insists patient care is central, describes

:01:38. > :01:38.the current system as a historic model which doesn't meet the needs

:01:39. > :01:40.of today's population. Police are warning people not to get

:01:41. > :01:43.too close to a humpback whale It's believed to have a calf with it

:01:44. > :01:49.and was last seen in Start Bay. It's rare for humpbacks to be seen

:01:50. > :01:53.up close unless they're in trouble. The area's being patrolled

:01:54. > :01:55.by a fisheries vessel - anyone caught harassing the whale

:01:56. > :02:00.could be prosecuted. Evidence of marine pollution

:02:01. > :02:03.from across Devon and Cornwall is being gathered this weekend to be

:02:04. > :02:06.sent to the government. Hundreds of volunteers are searching

:02:07. > :02:08.for dead or injured sea birds to help the RSPB build an accurate

:02:09. > :02:22.picture of the health By recording what we see and stating

:02:23. > :02:27.the help of the beach and whether it is clean, all that data going back

:02:28. > :02:32.and being collated nationally because it is happening right around

:02:33. > :02:36.the country, then we have got a snapshot of in February that is

:02:37. > :02:38.exactly how Britain's birds were faring and this is what we were

:02:39. > :02:46.finding. Onto the sport and Plymouth Argyle

:02:47. > :02:52.drew at Luton with league leaders Doncaster also drawing. A goal a

:02:53. > :02:57.minute into extra time and Exeter gained a valuable point as the

:02:58. > :03:11.Grecians drew 2-2 at home to Blackpool. Yeovil drew 2-0 -- 12-0.

:03:12. > :03:16.And in rugby, the Exeter Chiefs 136-14 against Newcastle at Sandy

:03:17. > :03:24.Park. The Pirates play tomorrow. Plymouth Raiders are today after

:03:25. > :03:27.Trophy final for the first time in five years.

:03:28. > :03:30.In a tense second leg of the semi final they lost 90-83

:03:31. > :03:33.to Worcester Wolves last night, but won on aggregate, with an 18

:03:34. > :03:36.A fascinating piece of Cornish history went

:03:37. > :03:40.The King of Norway presented this silver cup to a smuggler called

:03:41. > :03:47.It was in honour of his bravery in rescuing several crew

:03:48. > :03:49.from the wreckage of a Norwegian cargo ship off Gunwalloe.

:03:50. > :03:52.It was part of a collection bought for eight thousand pounds,

:03:53. > :03:55.apparently by a member of the Cuttance family.

:03:56. > :04:02.quite a character. He was a smuggler. He was a Cornish wrestling

:04:03. > :04:11.champion. He was a local publican. And he became a hero when he rescued

:04:12. > :04:12.the people from the ship Elizabeth of Bergen.

:04:13. > :04:19.Let's take a look at the weather now - with Dan.

:04:20. > :04:24.Mild but breezy. A band of rain crossing the region at the moment.

:04:25. > :04:30.Behind it, some cloud and hail fog. Not a cold night by any means.

:04:31. > :04:34.7-8 C. It stays breezy as well. Tomorrow morning, maybe one or two

:04:35. > :04:38.holes in the cloud. Most of us, it will stay cloudy. Some showers and a

:04:39. > :04:43.band of heavy rain pushing through into the afternoon. And the wind

:04:44. > :04:57.will pick up as. Gusts of 40 mph or so in exposure. Still mild.

:04:58. > :05:00.Of 12 Celsius. Into the start of next week, it will get colder again.

:05:01. > :05:03.Some overnight frosts a possibility and on Monday it is looking

:05:04. > :05:04.unsettled with some sunny spells and heavy showers. Have a good evening.

:05:05. > :05:19.Good evening. Starting with a quick look at the satellite sequence from

:05:20. > :05:23.earlier. We started under a big blanket of cloud but Scotland and

:05:24. > :05:27.Northern Ireland brightened up as the day went off. Underneath the

:05:28. > :05:32.cloud in England and Wales, quite a bit of rain at the moment, drifting

:05:33. > :05:36.southwards and East. It will continue to do so. In the small

:05:37. > :05:40.hours the rain will become patchy, and most will give way to the

:05:41. > :05:44.continent. There will be some breaks, particularly to the East of

:05:45. > :05:49.Scotland, where there could be a touch of frost. Next batch of rain

:05:50. > :05:52.into the western side of Scotland first thing, moving east with a

:05:53. > :05:56.little snow over higher ground. Another pulse of rain coming towards

:05:57. > :06:00.the Irish Sea area and with that comes really strong winds, blowing a

:06:01. > :06:01.gale, and
