0:00:02 > 0:00:05In the next ten days we're going to get just about everything
0:00:05 > 0:00:07a British summer can throw at us.
0:00:07 > 0:00:12Bit of rain, higher temperatures, higher humidity, thunderstorms too.
0:00:12 > 0:00:16We'll get to all of that. First, the next five days in detail.
0:00:16 > 0:00:19And for Northern Ireland and Western Scotland tomorrow will be
0:00:19 > 0:00:21turning wetter where elsewhere after
0:00:21 > 0:00:24a sunny start it will be cloud increasing.
0:00:24 > 0:00:26But still some sunny spells around.
0:00:26 > 0:00:28Let's take a look at things into the afternoon.
0:00:28 > 0:00:32Some patchy outbreaks of rain feeding into Wales and Western England.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34More to West facing hills.
0:00:34 > 0:00:39If you're to the East of high ground I don't think you'll see much at all.
0:00:39 > 0:00:42The rain in Northern Ireland begins to ease away in time for the evening.
0:00:42 > 0:00:45Still looking pretty wet in Western Scotland.
0:00:45 > 0:00:46Especially on the hills here.
0:00:46 > 0:00:50Some of the rain will start to feed its way East across Scotland
0:00:50 > 0:00:52but not as much as you're going to see in the West.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55You'll hold on to the dry weather for the longest here.
0:00:55 > 0:00:58Although for Central and Eastern England cloud is going to build,
0:00:58 > 0:01:00there will be breaks in that cloud into the afternoon.
0:01:00 > 0:01:01It will still be dry.
0:01:01 > 0:01:03And in that sunshine
0:01:03 > 0:01:06when it makes an appearance it will feel pleasantly warm.
0:01:06 > 0:01:09That's a look around the weather for Monday afternoon.
0:01:09 > 0:01:11On Monday night the rain spreads its way Southeast.
0:01:11 > 0:01:14Not a huge amount left for the gardens of England
0:01:14 > 0:01:15once it moves on through
0:01:15 > 0:01:17but still lingering towards the Southeast
0:01:17 > 0:01:21of England on Tuesday morning to give a damp start in places.
0:01:21 > 0:01:25With more cloud around it will not be as fresh to start
0:01:25 > 0:01:28Tuesday as it will be on Monday.
0:01:28 > 0:01:32For Tuesday that weather front is for a time in Southeast England.
0:01:32 > 0:01:35Some low cloud, poor visibility, damp and drizzly weather to begin the day.
0:01:35 > 0:01:38It pushes away and things slowly improve.
0:01:38 > 0:01:41Elsewhere the ridge of high pressure giving plenty of fine weather.
0:01:41 > 0:01:46Just one or two showers running across Northern parts of the UK
0:01:46 > 0:01:50And some warmth in the sunshine with high teens, low 20s.
0:01:50 > 0:01:54Potentially into the mid 20s in the warm spots in Southeast England.
0:01:54 > 0:02:00Some more fronts come our way on Wednesday.
0:02:00 > 0:02:03and Scotland with some outbreaks of rain.
0:02:03 > 0:02:05For England and Wales we will start to notice
0:02:05 > 0:02:07a change in the feel of the weather.
0:02:07 > 0:02:11Temperatures edging up but more significantly higher humidity too.
0:02:11 > 0:02:16It will start to feel a bit sultry on Wednesday.
0:02:16 > 0:02:19Scotland and Northern Ireland turning more showery.
0:02:19 > 0:02:21Going into Thursday that pushes away.
0:02:21 > 0:02:24So the fine weather extends back across the UK.
0:02:24 > 0:02:27Along with the higher heat and humidity, as well.
0:02:27 > 0:02:29It's particularly for England and Wales
0:02:29 > 0:02:33we'll see the stickiest conditions and it could be on Thursday
0:02:33 > 0:02:36that somewhere gets to 30C for the first time this summer.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38And it could well be towards the Midlands.
0:02:38 > 0:02:40Then there's a change right at the end of the week.
0:02:40 > 0:02:44A thundery breakdown as an area of low pressure feeds in some
0:02:44 > 0:02:46potentially disruptive downpours.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50There's some uncertainty about the detail in terms of positioning
0:02:50 > 0:02:52and timing.
0:02:52 > 0:02:56But have it in your mind now that things could turn quite nasty in some
0:02:56 > 0:03:00spots on Friday and it will still be very warm with high humidity.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03Let's take a look at the extended period.
0:03:03 > 0:03:06That takes us into the weekend and the start of the following week.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09It looks as if instead of looking to the South for our weather and that
0:03:09 > 0:03:14heat from Spain we will turn Southwesterly towards the Atlantic.
0:03:14 > 0:03:19That means that thundery breakdown will extend into next weekend.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21The heat will slowly subside but it will still be rather humid.
0:03:21 > 0:03:23Still warm when the sun makes an appearance.
0:03:23 > 0:03:26But the showers will stay with us into the start of the following week.
0:03:26 > 0:03:29So increasingly unsettled once again. Bye-bye.
0:03:31 > 0:03:33Imagine if you could talk to the animals.
0:03:33 > 0:03:35WOMAN WHISTLES
0:03:35 > 0:03:39Zoologist Lucy Cooke is going to show us how.
0:03:39 > 0:03:43This is the first example we know of of infrared communication.
