0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. There's reasonably strong signals

0:00:05 > 0:00:08that the longer-term outlook into next week promises more warm weather,

0:00:08 > 0:00:11but the real weather action is in the short-term.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14The heat again triggering some thunderstorms.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17The atmosphere is really volatile at the moment,

0:00:17 > 0:00:19storms tracking their way Northwards

0:00:19 > 0:00:20over the next 24 hours.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Some places will miss them,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24there'll be warm sunshine on Saturday,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27but be prepared for some torrential rain,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29particularly across Western Scotland.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32The storms mostly across Eastern Northern Ireland in the morning,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34maybe largely dry afternoon here.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35And much of the day,

0:00:35 > 0:00:36dry in Eastern Scotland as well,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38though it will be quite cloudy.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40A risk of further thunderstorms

0:00:40 > 0:00:42developing across parts of England and Wales.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45They will be hit and miss and well scattered.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47Some places will avoid them and stay dry.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49In the sunshine across parts of the East,

0:00:49 > 0:00:52temperatures could get close to 30 Celsius.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55But the heat and humidity means that when the storms occur,

0:00:55 > 0:00:59they could be violent, dropping a lot of rain in a short space of time.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02A risk of localised flooding,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04a risk of further disruption to transport.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06And they don't stop on Saturday afternoon,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08they keep going through the evening,

0:01:08 > 0:01:11clumps of storms heading Northwards.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13We could import some more from France

0:01:13 > 0:01:15across East Anglia and the South-East.

0:01:15 > 0:01:16For some, the weather calms down

0:01:16 > 0:01:18a little bit on Saturday night,

0:01:18 > 0:01:19it will still be warm,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21still humid, still quite misty,

0:01:21 > 0:01:23particularly around some coasts.

0:01:23 > 0:01:24Sunday is again a day

0:01:24 > 0:01:27where we're watching the skies,

0:01:27 > 0:01:28watching the storms develop,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30most likely across Eastern areas,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32close to this weather front at first.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35But it is tending to pull away through the day

0:01:35 > 0:01:36and there are signs of

0:01:36 > 0:01:38a ridge trying to build in.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40That's mostly for Monday though.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42Still on Sunday, the emphasis

0:01:42 > 0:01:43will be on showers, not as many,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45maybe not as violent,

0:01:45 > 0:01:46but still the potential

0:01:46 > 0:01:49for some intense downpours, come the afternoon.

0:01:49 > 0:01:50In the brighter spells,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52it will still feel pretty warm and humid,

0:01:52 > 0:01:56with temperatures widely into the low to mid 20s.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Now, the weather fronts, the low-pressure systems

0:01:59 > 0:02:02are still close by on Sunday night

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and into Monday, but amongst all this debris,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06this little bump in the isobars

0:02:06 > 0:02:08does push its way across the UK.

0:02:08 > 0:02:09It's a ridge of high pressure

0:02:09 > 0:02:12and it's likely to calm the weather right down

0:02:12 > 0:02:13for much of next week.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14There'll still be rain

0:02:14 > 0:02:16across North-East Scotland on Monday

0:02:16 > 0:02:18and a few showers can't be completely ruled out.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21But generally Monday, dry and bright,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23and that area of high pressure really starts

0:02:23 > 0:02:25to push in across the UK

0:02:25 > 0:02:27on Tuesday and for Wednesday.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Weather fronts are trying to come in from the West,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31but it looks at the moment as if

0:02:31 > 0:02:33the high pressure will keep them

0:02:33 > 0:02:35at bay on Tuesday, maybe more cloud in the West,

0:02:35 > 0:02:36one or two late showers,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38but generally it's a fine day

0:02:38 > 0:02:40and starting to warm up again as well.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Temperatures widely in the mid to maybe high 20s.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46That weather front makes a few more inroads on Wednesday.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Could bring rain, particularly to Northern Ireland.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52But generally, high pressure keeping things fine,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54could be an Easterly breeze

0:02:54 > 0:02:56bringing showers across the South-East,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59but for most, the weather looks set fair.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01And that trend may well continue.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05It does look as if, for the back end of next week into the weekend,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07high pressure will dominate and be close by.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09Probably out into the North Sea,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11which could allow low-pressure systems to come

0:03:11 > 0:03:13into the South-East, and the far North-West.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15So these areas likely to see a bit more cloud

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and that's where we could see some showery rain.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21But for most, high pressure calming things down,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23bringing dry and warm sunshine.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27In the shorter term, do watch out for those thunderstorms.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30All the weather warnings are available on the BBC weather website.
