0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. Time for our update on the prospects for the week ahead

0:00:06 > 0:00:08and beyond, to the end of the month.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10There are the first indications that we might begin to see

0:00:10 > 0:00:14a change in the weather after what's been a pretty warm July so far.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16And a warm day to come on Wednesday.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18Maybe the odd early shower across Eastern England

0:00:18 > 0:00:22and then a greater chance of the odd isolated downpour further West,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25across parts of Southern England and South Wales through the afternoon.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27But, still, just the odd blob of blue,

0:00:27 > 0:00:30so the vast majority of us will avoid the showers entirely

0:00:30 > 0:00:32and enjoy plenty more of the very warm sunshine,

0:00:32 > 0:00:36with temperatures up into the mid-to-high 20s quite widely.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39Now, on Tuesday, there was the odd shower across Northern Ireland

0:00:39 > 0:00:41I think it will be dry on Wednesday

0:00:41 > 0:00:43and temperatures again will respond very nicely.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45A very pleasant day to come,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47as it will be across the bulk of Scotland as well.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Always the risk of some sea mist across the far Northeast,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52into the Northern Isles.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56But most inland areas will have a fine day

0:00:56 > 0:00:58starting later on in the evening.

0:00:58 > 0:00:59A fine day to come also

0:00:59 > 0:01:01across the bulk of Central and Southern England

0:01:01 > 0:01:03but, yes, that risk of some downpours.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Isolated downpours, but they will be quite slow-moving,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08across some Southern counties of England.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11And they'll carry on into the evening before they drift away overnight.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15And then, for most of us, it'll be another dry night out there.

0:01:15 > 0:01:16Some of that low cloud and mist

0:01:16 > 0:01:18will drift back in off the North Sea

0:01:18 > 0:01:20into some Central and Eastern parts of England by morning,

0:01:20 > 0:01:23another quite muggy night to come. As we come into Thursday morning,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25temperatures will be around about the mid-teens

0:01:25 > 0:01:27in the larger towns and cities.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Another warm day to come with some pretty hot air

0:01:30 > 0:01:33continuing to flow in off the near continent.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35We'll have to keep an eye on this weather front

0:01:35 > 0:01:41but, for the most part again on Thursday, it will be a dry day.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43the sun should break through

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and most of us will settle into a fine afternoon.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47Again, the odd shower breaking out

0:01:47 > 0:01:49in response to some pretty high temperatures

0:01:49 > 0:01:51across the heart of England and Wales

0:01:51 > 0:01:53and they could well be very heavy and slow-moving.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55But nearly all of us will avoid these.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Again, mid-to-high 20s typically

0:01:57 > 0:02:01but cooler along those North Sea coasts once more.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Looking ahead towards the end of the week, then.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06No great changes at this stage.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08The high pressure is beginning to ease away Northwards,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11so the pressure slowly beginning to fall.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13But, for most places again,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15it will be a dry day with a lot of sunshine

0:02:15 > 0:02:19after what will be a rather cloudy start in some places.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Still very warm, up into the mid-to-high 20s

0:02:21 > 0:02:24and knocking on the door of 30 degrees in some spots.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26We're getting used to this, aren't we?

0:02:26 > 0:02:29As we hit the weekend, we have to keep an eye on this weather front

0:02:29 > 0:02:31beginning to come down from the Northwest.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34That could play an important role as we go through this weekend.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37Initially, most places start off dry and fine

0:02:37 > 0:02:39with, again, some very warm sunshine.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41But that front will edge into parts of Northern Ireland

0:02:41 > 0:02:44and Western Scotland, we think, bringing some outbreaks of rain

0:02:44 > 0:02:46and some lower temperatures as well.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49And that front will begin to slide its way further Southwards

0:02:49 > 0:02:50as we go through Sunday.

0:02:50 > 0:02:51Some showers on it but, again,

0:02:51 > 0:02:54some very high temperatures still to the South of it.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Somewhat cooler to the North.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Now, we did think yesterday

0:02:58 > 0:03:00that high pressure might begin to build in again

0:03:00 > 0:03:04but it now looks more likely that the high will retreat Southwestwards,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06with these West or Northwesterly winds beginning to push in

0:03:06 > 0:03:08and those will be quite important

0:03:08 > 0:03:10because they will displace the warm air.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13It will hang on across Southern areas for a wee while longer

0:03:13 > 0:03:15but the message is, through the early part of next week,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17it'll start to cool down, we think.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19Southern areas still mostly dry,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21and some places do need some rain, I know.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23But Northern areas turning rather more unsettled,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25certainly cooler here, with some outbreaks of rain.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27My colleague, Darren Bett,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29will update you again as we go through tomorrow.
