0:00:01 > 0:00:02Hello there.
0:00:02 > 0:00:05The ten-day outlook is suggesting a gradual slide into a rather
0:00:05 > 0:00:08more unsettled mode of summer weather.
0:00:08 > 0:00:12No sign of any repeat of the hot sunshine that many of us
0:00:12 > 0:00:13have seen over recent weeks.
0:00:13 > 0:00:17There will be some sunshine around on Tuesday, but a bit intermittent,
0:00:17 > 0:00:20particularly across the North and Northwest of the UK.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22Some showers driven along by fairly brisk
0:00:22 > 0:00:24winds across Western Scotland, Northern Ireland,
0:00:24 > 0:00:27and a band of thicker cloud working its way southwards ahead of that.
0:00:27 > 0:00:30There will be a brighter spells coming through,
0:00:30 > 0:00:33but temperatures a bit below average - around 17 in Glasgow -
0:00:33 > 0:00:36a cool breeze blowing through from the West as well.
0:00:36 > 0:00:39That cloud may be thick enough to bring some drizzle to the
0:00:39 > 0:00:42mountains of Snowdonia, perhaps across the Pennines as well,
0:00:42 > 0:00:45but ahead of that we will have this band of clearer
0:00:45 > 0:00:47skies and some sunshine getting in across Southern England,
0:00:47 > 0:00:50and temperatures responding - still fairly warm air.
0:00:50 > 0:00:54So getting up to the mid, even high 20s in one or two spots.
0:00:54 > 0:00:56So there is still some warm air there,
0:00:56 > 0:00:59particularly across the South Midlands, South East England.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02Cooler air to the North, and dividing those two,
0:01:02 > 0:01:05we actually have weather front, perhaps not surprisingly,
0:01:05 > 0:01:08and that front, as it moves southwards during Tuesday
0:01:08 > 0:01:11night into Wednesday, will take the very warmest of the air away
0:01:11 > 0:01:13and out into the near Continent.
0:01:13 > 0:01:14Then low pressure to the North,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16rather more isobars on the chart,
0:01:16 > 0:01:18and a little weak weather system running through,
0:01:18 > 0:01:19enhancing the showers
0:01:19 > 0:01:23and the amount of cloud for a time across the Northern half of the UK.
0:01:23 > 0:01:26Best chance of lengthy, dry, and at times, bright spells across Southern
0:01:26 > 0:01:29areas, and that's where the highest temperatures are likely to be.
0:01:29 > 0:01:30So still getting up to,
0:01:30 > 0:01:33or even slightly above the seasonal average here,
0:01:33 > 0:01:35but feeling a little on the cool side in the brisk
0:01:35 > 0:01:39winds across Northern areas, and around 18 - 20 degrees.
0:01:39 > 0:01:42So this is how Wednesday is shaping up.
0:01:42 > 0:01:46High pressure's beginning to retreat into the mid Atlantic,
0:01:46 > 0:01:48so that's opening things up for areas of low pressure to
0:01:48 > 0:01:50move in from the Atlantic
0:01:50 > 0:01:53across the UK, hence this gradual change to something more
0:01:53 > 0:01:55unsettled as the week goes on.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58We could even see some longer spells of rain around the low to the
0:01:58 > 0:02:01North, across Scotland, maybe Northern Ireland for a time.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04Brisk winds blowing in across Western parts of England and Wales, but
0:02:04 > 0:02:08still in the South East, temperatures up around 23 - 25 degrees.
0:02:08 > 0:02:10But now we go on into Friday
0:02:10 > 0:02:12and you can see that low pressure gradually becoming more
0:02:12 > 0:02:16and more established as the high moves away further to the West.
0:02:16 > 0:02:20So you can see the wind circulating around that area of low pressure,
0:02:20 > 0:02:23bringing outbreaks of rain showery in nature by and large,
0:02:23 > 0:02:26but some of those showers could last for some time.
0:02:26 > 0:02:2817 or 18 across Northern parts,
0:02:28 > 0:02:32On the cool side. Up to 21 or 22 in the South.
0:02:32 > 0:02:37But these weather fronts will bring bands of showery rain around the low.
0:02:37 > 0:02:41You can see the low is really lining up to go through towards the weekend.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43So what you'll probably tend to find is you'll get a band of showers
0:02:43 > 0:02:45moving through, then something drier
0:02:45 > 0:02:47and brighter coming through behind that.
0:02:47 > 0:02:51So certainly not a wash out by any means, but you'll need to get
0:02:51 > 0:02:54in the sunshine to get any benefits, really, from any sort of warmth.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57But temperatures still fairly close to the seasonal average,
0:02:57 > 0:02:59and that seems to be the case as we look further ahead through
0:02:59 > 0:03:01the rest of the first week of August.
0:03:01 > 0:03:05Average temperatures, some sunshine, but also potential for some
0:03:05 > 0:03:07rain at times, and some of that could be on the heavy side.
0:03:07 > 0:03:10Often breezy, in fact, with low pressure sitting right
0:03:10 > 0:03:12across the UK, we could even see winds
0:03:12 > 0:03:15getting close to gale force at times around some exposed Western areas.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19Perhaps across the West of Scotland, for example, and seasonably
0:03:19 > 0:03:22windy in some places, but low pressure looks to stay in charge.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25That's how it's looking at the moment right the way through
0:03:25 > 0:03:29the first week of August, hence a rather unsettled spell of weather.
