0:00:03 > 0:00:05It's time for our update on the weather for the week ahead
0:00:05 > 0:00:08and a hint of what might follow. As we shall see in a moment,
0:00:08 > 0:00:10it gets very interesting come next weekend.
0:00:10 > 0:00:13This weekend, some of us have had it lovely and sunny,
0:00:13 > 0:00:15Others, very wet. It's all depended on
0:00:15 > 0:00:17how close you were to this area of low pressure.
0:00:17 > 0:00:19For Northern Ireland and Scotland
0:00:19 > 0:00:21closest to the low, there's been a lot of rain.
0:00:21 > 0:00:23That low is drifting Northwards
0:00:23 > 0:00:25but still some blustery showers to come
0:00:25 > 0:00:27initially on Monday across the West of Scotland
0:00:27 > 0:00:28though these should ease.
0:00:28 > 0:00:30The odd shower scattered around elsewhere
0:00:30 > 0:00:32but a lot of drier weather
0:00:32 > 0:00:34and many places will avoid the showers entirely.
0:00:34 > 0:00:35With light winds it will feel
0:00:35 > 0:00:37very pleasant out there -
0:00:37 > 0:00:38temperatures getting up into
0:00:38 > 0:00:40the low to mid-20s quite widely.
0:00:40 > 0:00:41It will feel more comfortable
0:00:41 > 0:00:43than it has done across parts of
0:00:43 > 0:00:44Northern Ireland and Scotland.
0:00:44 > 0:00:46A fine start to the week
0:00:46 > 0:00:47and then we look to the West
0:00:47 > 0:00:48with some fronts coming in.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50Initially disorganised
0:00:50 > 0:00:51but they will increase the cloud
0:00:51 > 0:00:53and eventually bring some showers.
0:00:53 > 0:00:56After a chilly but bright start in some areas -
0:00:56 > 0:00:57a touch of ground frost perhaps
0:00:57 > 0:00:59in the glens of Scotland -
0:00:59 > 0:01:00it will gradually cloud over
0:01:00 > 0:01:02with some showers breaking out
0:01:02 > 0:01:03across Northern Ireland
0:01:03 > 0:01:05and then they'll increase in number across the country,
0:01:05 > 0:01:07pushing in from the Southwest
0:01:07 > 0:01:08during the course of the day.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10That said, some places will avoid the showers,
0:01:10 > 0:01:12particularly the further North and East we are.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14Temperatures again will do OK.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16It will begin to feel quite muggy
0:01:16 > 0:01:17as humidity rises.
0:01:17 > 0:01:21In any brightness up into the low to mid-20s.
0:01:21 > 0:01:23The fronts get a bit more oomph in them
0:01:23 > 0:01:25come the middle of the week.
0:01:25 > 0:01:27It does mean we're likely to see some heavier rain.
0:01:27 > 0:01:30The timing of these fronts not nailed down,
0:01:30 > 0:01:32but there will be some wetter weather
0:01:32 > 0:01:34pushing its way West to East.
0:01:34 > 0:01:36Following on behind, there will be
0:01:36 > 0:01:37some brighter skies eventually
0:01:37 > 0:01:39coming into more Western areas.
0:01:39 > 0:01:42Some useful rain for the gardens on Wednesday.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45Where it stays wet, temperatures will be depressed.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47In the sunshine, if you see some sunshine,
0:01:47 > 0:01:49low to mid-20s once again.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51On into Thursday, I must emphasise
0:01:51 > 0:01:53the timing of the systems
0:01:53 > 0:01:54by this range is very uncertain.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56It looks as if we'll be in a bit of a gap.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58Wednesday's feature will have moved away,
0:01:58 > 0:02:00the next one waiting in the wings,
0:02:00 > 0:02:02but I think on Thursday
0:02:02 > 0:02:04a lot of dry weather to come.
0:02:04 > 0:02:05Some sunshine, and with
0:02:05 > 0:02:08light winds again, temperatures will do OK.
0:02:08 > 0:02:09Up into the low to mid-20s.
0:02:09 > 0:02:11The highest temperatures across more
0:02:11 > 0:02:13Southern and Eastern parts of the UK.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15It's not going last
0:02:15 > 0:02:16because the next feature
0:02:16 > 0:02:18could well be quite nasty actually.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20A deepening area of low pressure,
0:02:20 > 0:02:22the exact track of this uncertain.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24It could go this way, it could go that way.
0:02:24 > 0:02:26But it will probably spread across
0:02:26 > 0:02:28the UK in some shape or form,
0:02:28 > 0:02:29which does mean some wet
0:02:29 > 0:02:32and potentially quite windy weather as we end the week.
0:02:32 > 0:02:33Watch out for that.
0:02:33 > 0:02:35Certainly the end of the week
0:02:35 > 0:02:37wetter than the beginning of the week.
0:02:37 > 0:02:39Then our attention turns to developments
0:02:39 > 0:02:41down in the Caribbean, would you believe?
0:02:41 > 0:02:44We're keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Bertha.
0:02:44 > 0:02:46It's been moving its way Westwards
0:02:46 > 0:02:47over the last day or so
0:02:47 > 0:02:49and intensifying all the while.
0:02:49 > 0:02:50It does look as if
0:02:50 > 0:02:53Bertha will start to move its way North
0:02:53 > 0:02:56as we go through the next few days.
0:02:56 > 0:02:57It could intensify further
0:02:57 > 0:03:00to briefly become a hurricane,
0:03:00 > 0:03:02and then it's going to curve its way
0:03:02 > 0:03:03back out into the Atlantic
0:03:03 > 0:03:05later on this week.
0:03:05 > 0:03:07Bertha could have an indirect effect
0:03:07 > 0:03:09on our weather as you go into
0:03:09 > 0:03:10next weekend and beyond.
0:03:10 > 0:03:11We won't get
0:03:11 > 0:03:13a tropical storm or a hurricane,
0:03:13 > 0:03:15but it does raise the uncertainty in our weather
0:03:15 > 0:03:16in the extended period
0:03:16 > 0:03:18with the potential for some heavy rain
0:03:18 > 0:03:20and also some quite strong winds.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23So that's one to watch. We'll be monitoring it very closely.
0:03:23 > 0:03:26Why not tune in here again, this time tomorrow,
0:03:26 > 0:03:29and Tomasz Schafernaker will give you an update?
0:03:34 > 0:03:38When wild animals get sick, it takes radical thinking,
0:03:38 > 0:03:40extraordinary medical skills and great bravery
0:03:40 > 0:03:42to treat them and save lives.
0:03:42 > 0:03:45This is routine for me. The problem is to do it on a rhinoceros.
0:03:47 > 0:03:50This is real bionic stuff, it's amazing.
0:03:50 > 0:03:53This is the trickiest ultrasound I've ever seen.
