0:00:01 > 0:00:03Thanks for tuning in to our extended weather forecast.

0:00:03 > 0:00:06If you've been watching the extended forecasts in the last

0:00:06 > 0:00:08couple of days, you'll know there's been much

0:00:08 > 0:00:13talk about the weekend weather linked to a tropical storm,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Tropical Storm Bertha, which is kind of heading our way.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18We'll have a look at that in a second.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20In the short-term, we have rain on the way.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22That's going to be affecting us during Wednesday,

0:00:22 > 0:00:26particularly in the morning, the rain will be heavy across the Southeast.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29It'l turn wet, across parts of Scotland as well.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32But the bulk of the day will dry out across the UK

0:00:32 > 0:00:34so that much of Wales and England

0:00:34 > 0:00:36should have a fine day on Wednesday

0:00:36 > 0:00:41afternoon with highs of 26 in London and 20C in Newcastle.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44So a wet morning followed by a much brighter afternoon.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46So that's Wednesday. How about Thursday?

0:00:46 > 0:00:49We're actually in a window of fine weather.

0:00:49 > 0:00:53The rain we would have had on Wednesday is out in the North Sea.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56And we are in this sort of spell of much better weather.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59It's what we call a ridge of high pressure, so that means

0:00:59 > 0:01:01the air is sinking, the weather is much quieter

0:01:01 > 0:01:03and the winds are lighter.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06For most of us it is a pleasant day with some hazy sunshine.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10Again, fairly pleasant temperatures for most of us in the low 20s

0:01:10 > 0:01:11in a number of areas.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14But, for example in the Southeast,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16will have the highest value,

0:01:16 > 0:01:1925 in London and around 18C in Glasgow.

0:01:19 > 0:01:23There will be a few showers around but not too many.

0:01:23 > 0:01:27Into Friday, this area of low pressure across France

0:01:27 > 0:01:29and the Bay of Biscay is something which will upset

0:01:29 > 0:01:33the weather across the Southeastern portion of the UK.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35There is much uncertainty at the moment how much

0:01:35 > 0:01:37rainfall there is going to be.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40We think that around about here we could have a period of heavy

0:01:40 > 0:01:42rain and gusty winds.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Clearly you can see there's some bright weather as well

0:01:45 > 0:01:48across more Western parts of the country but it is

0:01:48 > 0:01:53uncertain exactly where this band of rain and how far West it will get.

0:01:53 > 0:01:54As we head into Saturday,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57again that is one area of low pressure here, another one here.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59We will talk about this one in a second.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02We're in between weather systems so once again,

0:02:02 > 0:02:07the weather will quieten down a bit on Saturday. Not for everybody.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10We are close to an area of low pressure in the Northwest.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12That means across Northern Ireland

0:02:12 > 0:02:14and Scotland there will be a few showers.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17But across the bulk of the UK, we should have some dry weather

0:02:17 > 0:02:21with highs in the low 20s, possibly up to 24 in the London area.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Before the Sunday forecast, I will show you what's been

0:02:25 > 0:02:28happening across the Eastern seaboard of the United States.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31This is actually Tropical Storm Bertha,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34it was a hurricane this time yesterday.

0:02:34 > 0:02:39As we go over the next few days, the storm is going to track across

0:02:39 > 0:02:44the Atlantic, move into the North Atlantic and it will start to decay.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47You can see these uncertainty circles so where

0:02:47 > 0:02:50the centre of the storm is going to be is very close,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51on the top of the UK.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53This is what it looks like on Sunday.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56You'll notice there is a lot of rain in the south of the country.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59This is where we think the storm may well be.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03I say storm loosely, it may just be a bit of a breeze with cloud

0:03:03 > 0:03:05and rain or it could be something a bit more dramatic.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09We will keep you posted nearer the time. It is still a long way off.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12After that bad weather clears, there is going to

0:03:12 > 0:03:14be much uncertainty on Monday.

0:03:14 > 0:03:18It depends what is going to happen on Sunday itself.

0:03:18 > 0:03:19It will settle down.

0:03:19 > 0:03:24The driest of the weather will be across southern parts of the country.
