0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. The remnants of Hurricane Bertha will still be
0:00:05 > 0:00:07making themselves felt into the morning,
0:00:07 > 0:00:09particularly across parts of north-east Scotland.
0:00:09 > 0:00:11With rain piling in across the northern Grampians,
0:00:11 > 0:00:14the Met Office have an amber weather warning across Moray and Speyside.
0:00:14 > 0:00:18Up to 100mm, four inches of rain possible here in 24 hours
0:00:18 > 0:00:20so flooding potential is there.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22Across eastern Scotland and north-east of England
0:00:22 > 0:00:24very strong winds to start the day, that could cause
0:00:24 > 0:00:28problems on the roads, bridges and potentially some of the airports.
0:00:28 > 0:00:30Wherever you are, a blustery start to Monday morning but away
0:00:30 > 0:00:34from the persistent rain in northern Scotland, elsewhere bright skies,
0:00:34 > 0:00:37a few showers around, particularly across southern and western parts.
0:00:37 > 0:00:39They will continue through the day.
0:00:39 > 0:00:42Being driven eastwards quite smartly on the strong west to
0:00:42 > 0:00:43north-westerly breeze.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46Across the South, some of the showers will come with hail and thunder.
0:00:46 > 0:00:49Only one or two avoiding the showers completely across southern
0:00:49 > 0:00:51counties of England and Wales.
0:00:51 > 0:00:53Temperatures way down on what we have been used to,
0:00:53 > 0:00:56only reaching around 20-21 in London, pushing 70 Fahrenheit.
0:00:56 > 0:00:58There will be parts of east and north Wales
0:00:58 > 0:01:01and parts of the north Midlands, even parts of north-east England
0:01:01 > 0:01:04will see few showers and one or two will avoid them altogether.
0:01:04 > 0:01:05It will still be very windy here.
0:01:05 > 0:01:07A better day for Northern Ireland, sunshine and showers,
0:01:07 > 0:01:09as is the case in southern Scotland.
0:01:09 > 0:01:11The rain easing off in northern areas of Scotland
0:01:11 > 0:01:14but more persistent rain there in the western Highlands,
0:01:14 > 0:01:17as it will be through the night and into Tuesday morning.
0:01:17 > 0:01:22We still see a low spiralling away, just pushing into the Norwegian Sea.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25We have showers still forming into southern and western parts
0:01:25 > 0:01:27but temperatures are a little bit more comfortable.
0:01:27 > 0:01:30That could be a welcome relief for those who have been struggling
0:01:30 > 0:01:31with sleeping by night.
0:01:31 > 0:01:35As we go into Tuesday, we are still focusing on the low, it is
0:01:35 > 0:01:38this weather front around it which will be the focus for some
0:01:38 > 0:01:42more persistent rain, particularly across parts of western Scotland.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45That will edge its way southwards ever so slightly.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47Some breaks in the rain, particularly to the east of high ground
0:01:47 > 0:01:50but turning wetter to the east of Northern Ireland
0:01:50 > 0:01:51and northern England later.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54Still lots of showers, particularly for Wales and the South West.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56This is where they will be most frequent and heaviest.
0:01:56 > 0:01:57Further east, fewer showers.
0:01:57 > 0:02:00A lot of you will stay dry and bright for a good part of the day,
0:02:00 > 0:02:02even if it is just a case of one passing shower.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04Temperatures 15-20 Celsius.
0:02:04 > 0:02:0721 Celsius still lower than you would probably hope for on an August
0:02:07 > 0:02:08afternoon.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11Into Wednesday, the low continues to move northwards and eastwards.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13A more north-westerly flow across the country,
0:02:13 > 0:02:15this means that southern
0:02:15 > 0:02:17and eastern areas are more likely to stay largely dry throughout
0:02:17 > 0:02:19the day and a little bit warmer,
0:02:19 > 0:02:2223 Celsius in the south-east corner, fresher towards the North.
0:02:22 > 0:02:25Just about anyone could see a shower.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27Into Thursday, the showers could be more focused through
0:02:27 > 0:02:29north-eastern parts of Scotland,
0:02:29 > 0:02:32maybe longer spells of rain before that pushes off into the North Sea.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35Again it is the South West and Wales where the atmosphere is
0:02:35 > 0:02:38ripe for frequent showers, some heavy and thundery.
0:02:38 > 0:02:42Showers turn lighter further north, winds lighter as well by Thursday.
0:02:42 > 0:02:44But the reason the showers are starting to lose their oomph is
0:02:44 > 0:02:47we have this area of high pressure in the Atlantic trying to
0:02:47 > 0:02:49nose its way in. Put a bit of a cap on the atmosphere,
0:02:49 > 0:02:52the shower clouds cannot build up quite so much.
0:02:52 > 0:02:54So fewer showers, more in the way of dryer and brighter
0:02:54 > 0:02:56weather, particularly across southern and western parts.
0:02:56 > 0:02:59More of you will stay dry for longer during the day, if not all day long.
0:02:59 > 0:03:03Temperatures, though, still a little bit on the disappointing side.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05From Saturday through to the following Tuesday,
0:03:05 > 0:03:07this is the general set-up as we see it.
0:03:07 > 0:03:09Most likely to have low pressure towards Scandinavia,
0:03:09 > 0:03:11high pressure to the south-west of us.
0:03:11 > 0:03:13Still keeping a north-westerly air, it is potential that
0:03:13 > 0:03:15low pressure could be a little bit further west.
0:03:15 > 0:03:18If it is, there will be more rain across northern areas
0:03:18 > 0:03:20but the emphasis at the moment looks to be largely dry,
0:03:20 > 0:03:23a few showers around, tending to be lighter with the driest
0:03:23 > 0:03:26warmest weather towards the far South and the West.
0:03:26 > 0:03:29We will of course keep you updated on how that pans out on the BBC
0:03:29 > 0:03:30weather website.
0:03:31 > 0:03:35I'm Jo Brand and I'm serving up an Extra Slice of Bake Off action
0:03:35 > 0:03:37with a panel of celebrity fans.
0:03:37 > 0:03:40I'll shine a spotlight on all the goings-on in the tent -
