0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. Summer remains fairly absent from the weather charts

0:00:06 > 0:00:09over the coming days, but the weekend, whilst not a summer classic,

0:00:09 > 0:00:11it will be far from a washout.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13We start with a brief ridge of high pressure

0:00:13 > 0:00:14across southern areas,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16but this low to the north of Scotland

0:00:16 > 0:00:17brings a change to the weekend

0:00:17 > 0:00:20introducing some more cloud and outbreaks of rain

0:00:20 > 0:00:22across the west of Scotland as we start Saturday,

0:00:22 > 0:00:23a strengthening breeze too.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25Elsewhere, some bright sunny spells,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27best of the sunshine England and Wales,

0:00:27 > 0:00:28bright, largely dry conditions

0:00:28 > 0:00:31in the south and east of Northern Ireland and Scotland.

0:00:31 > 0:00:32The weather front will push its way

0:00:32 > 0:00:33southwards during the day

0:00:33 > 0:00:35bringing occasional rain,

0:00:35 > 0:00:36mainly light rain, which will

0:00:36 > 0:00:38eventually turn heavier as it

0:00:38 > 0:00:39pushes into north-west England

0:00:39 > 0:00:40during the evening.

0:00:40 > 0:00:41South of it, it does look like

0:00:41 > 0:00:42through much of England

0:00:42 > 0:00:45and Wales it will be a dry day,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47a bright day, more cloud into the afternoon

0:00:47 > 0:00:48compared with the morning,

0:00:48 > 0:00:49but even with that cloud,

0:00:49 > 0:00:50there will be some sunny breaks

0:00:50 > 0:00:52in the sunshine out of the breeze,

0:00:52 > 0:00:53temperatures high teens and 20s,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54should feel warm enough.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Any showers, few and far between.

0:00:56 > 0:00:57Thicker cloud, breezy conditions

0:00:57 > 0:00:59north-west England through the afternoon.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Rain mainly in North Lancashire and Cumbria,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03damp across some parts of southern Scotland

0:01:03 > 0:01:05and Northern Ireland, but drier moments here,

0:01:05 > 0:01:06bright weather to end the day

0:01:06 > 0:01:08in northern Scotland, one or two showers.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Temperatures could get into the low 20s

0:01:10 > 0:01:12around Aberdeenshire and the Moray Firth.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14In the evening, northern England,

0:01:14 > 0:01:15North Wales, the rain does pep up.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17The winds become strong and gusty

0:01:17 > 0:01:18round that cold front

0:01:18 > 0:01:19pushing its way southwards,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21introducing a rather fresh start

0:01:21 > 0:01:22to Sunday across the northern half

0:01:22 > 0:01:24of the UK, windy with some showers.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26To the south, not as cold

0:01:26 > 0:01:27as we start Saturday morning,

0:01:27 > 0:01:30with temperatures generally around the mid-teens.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32So here's the pressure chart to start Sunday.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34A deepening low to the north-east of Scotland,

0:01:34 > 0:01:35strongest of the winds

0:01:35 > 0:01:36western Scotland, Northern Ireland,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38and into the north-west of England.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40The weather front brings some occasional rain

0:01:40 > 0:01:42in southern England to begin with.

0:01:42 > 0:01:43Not everyone will see the rain,

0:01:43 > 0:01:44some will be barely more than

0:01:44 > 0:01:46a splash or two, brightening up here

0:01:46 > 0:01:47in the afternoon.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49Brighter conditions across England and Wales,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51showers northern England northwards,

0:01:51 > 0:01:52some of those becoming frequent

0:01:52 > 0:01:55across northern Scotland, heavy and thundery,

0:01:55 > 0:01:56strong winds, as I said,

0:01:56 > 0:01:57across the North and the West

0:01:57 > 0:01:58an increasing chilly feel as well,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00temperatures at best

0:02:00 > 0:02:02around the mid-teens here.

0:02:02 > 0:02:03That low remains a dominant feature

0:02:03 > 0:02:05through Sunday night into Monday.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06Strongest winds transferring

0:02:06 > 0:02:08eastern Scotland, north-east England,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10we could see winds gusting 50, 60 miles an hour

0:02:10 > 0:02:12for a time across this neck of the woods.

0:02:12 > 0:02:13It will feel distinctly chilly

0:02:13 > 0:02:15in that wind as well with

0:02:15 > 0:02:17plenty of showers pushing through on the breeze.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18A few showers elsewhere,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20but sheltered from that northerly wind,

0:02:20 > 0:02:21southern areas, in particular,

0:02:21 > 0:02:22should be dry and bright

0:02:22 > 0:02:24and still get out the sunshine...

0:02:24 > 0:02:25get out the wind,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27the sun will still make it feel pleasantly warm.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Now into Tuesday, still quite windy conditions

0:02:29 > 0:02:31across the far north-east.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33That breeze easing down a little bit

0:02:33 > 0:02:34on Monday's strong winds,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36but we will see the chance of some thicker cloud

0:02:36 > 0:02:38and some showery rain working its way

0:02:38 > 0:02:39down the western side of the UK.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41Driest, brightest conditions

0:02:41 > 0:02:42across southern England,

0:02:42 > 0:02:43but temperatures at best high-teens,

0:02:43 > 0:02:44for most of you mid-teens

0:02:44 > 0:02:46made to feel colder in that breeze.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47Now the focus for the showers

0:02:47 > 0:02:49as we go into Wednesday will be

0:02:49 > 0:02:50around this weather front,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51so southern parts of the country

0:02:51 > 0:02:53in particular have the greatest

0:02:53 > 0:02:54chance of a few showers,

0:02:54 > 0:02:55still some heavy showers to the north

0:02:55 > 0:02:57and east with those gusty winds.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59The gusty winds continuing to ease down

0:02:59 > 0:03:00a little bit further.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02As we go through Thursday into Sunday,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04of course, into the start of the bank holiday weekend,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06the low continues to nudge up a little bit further

0:03:06 > 0:03:09as high-pressure tries to nudge in from the south-west.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11It does mean that the strongest of those winds

0:03:11 > 0:03:13will continue across the north-east of the country,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16but I'm optimistic that at least as we go into the bank holiday weekend,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18the winds will ease down a little bit.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21Most will be dry, there'll still be a few showers here and there,

0:03:21 > 0:03:22so not a completely dry picture

0:03:22 > 0:03:25and whilst the nights will be rather chilly, at least by day,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27it should start to feel a touch warmer, particularly

0:03:27 > 0:03:29across some southern parts of the country.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32You can find out more online, but, from me, take care.
