0:00:03 > 0:00:06Next weekend is the final bank holiday weekend of the summer season

0:00:06 > 0:00:08for Northern Ireland, England and Wales.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11I'm sure you want to know the general trend of that forthcoming weekend.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Stay with us, I'll have more at the end of this forecast.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18The general trend over the next few days means more of an autumnal feel,

0:00:18 > 0:00:21with this area of low pressure the driving force and

0:00:21 > 0:00:25strong North-westerly winds, gales, likely across Scotland.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Even further inland as well, making it feel quite cool,

0:00:28 > 0:00:31with a real rush of showers across Scotland

0:00:31 > 0:00:33and perhaps for Northern Ireland for a time.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36Big waves as well so anyone on a sailing holiday in the Northwest,

0:00:36 > 0:00:39even a walking holiday, please take note.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42A dying weather front will continue to clear further South

0:00:42 > 0:00:44so by the middle of Sunday afternoon England and Wales should,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47after a pretty disappointing start, see an improving picture,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49with sunny spells coming through.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51It'll still be quite windy but hopefully, with some sunshine

0:00:51 > 0:00:55and fewer showers, temperatures should peak between the high teens,

0:00:55 > 0:00:58maybe as high as 20, 21 degrees. Similar story further North.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Fewer showers, some sunny spells into the afternoon.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04Showers always most frequent along the North and West-facing coasts

0:01:04 > 0:01:07of Northern Ireland and for Scotland as well.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Feeling really quite raw on those exposed coasts.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12For the time of year, very disappointing indeed.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Now, those are strong winds will continue through the night and they

0:01:15 > 0:01:19will drive some showers further South as well, across England and Wales.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22A lot of cloud around and because of the winds it's not going to be

0:01:22 > 0:01:26a cold night. Overnight lows generally of 10-13 degrees.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30So we start off Monday morning with that area of low pressure just

0:01:30 > 0:01:32drifting further into the North Sea,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35and that means the strongest of the winds closest to the low,

0:01:35 > 0:01:38so down through the Northeast coast during Monday.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Hopefully on Monday there will be fewer showers around

0:01:41 > 0:01:44but it's still going to be a windy day and, because the winds are coming

0:01:44 > 0:01:48from that North-westerly direction, a coolish feel for this time of year.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Temperatures down a good three or four degrees on what

0:01:50 > 0:01:53we should be seeing, really, and there will still be some showers

0:01:53 > 0:01:58driven along with the strength of the wind. So it's a coolish day.

0:01:58 > 0:01:5913-15 degrees further North.

0:01:59 > 0:02:04We still just cling on to 20, 21 perhaps in the Southeast corner

0:02:04 > 0:02:07but things will stay with that coolish feel, I suspect,

0:02:07 > 0:02:11into Tuesday as well. And this is what we call a little trough.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13It's just going to enhance the flow of showers

0:02:13 > 0:02:16out to the North and the West during Tuesday.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18So there will be perhaps lines of more organised showers

0:02:18 > 0:02:23and a cooler feel even down into the Southeast.

0:02:23 > 0:02:2413-18 degrees, the high.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27As we move out of Tuesday, the winds will start to fall lighter.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31That will be quite noticeable. So lighter winds around on Tuesday.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Hopefully a slightly drier day and so, therefore,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36hopefully a slightly better feel to the day as well.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Still can't rule out a few showers.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42Still disappointing to the North but, again, highs possibly 20 degrees.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44By the time we get to the middle of the week,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47hopefully the winds will start to swing round to

0:02:47 > 0:02:50more of a Westerly direction and that's a gradual sign

0:02:50 > 0:02:54of things slowly improving in terms of the feel of things.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57We still could see more organised bands of showery rain

0:02:57 > 0:03:00up into the far North and West and still those temperatures

0:03:00 > 0:03:02not quite where they should be for the time of year.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05Now, as we move towards the bank holiday weekend,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08it looks as though this area of high pressure may well build

0:03:08 > 0:03:10and we still keep that Westerly flow

0:03:10 > 0:03:13so I suspect things will slowly calm down

0:03:13 > 0:03:16and hopefully start to warm up just a touch

0:03:16 > 0:03:19but there are indications that it'll be a cool start.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22There will be some rain at times, particularly to the North and West.

0:03:22 > 0:03:23Potentially those temperatures rising

0:03:23 > 0:03:26but it will still stay pretty cool through the night.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28So, it's not good to be the best of bank holiday weekends

0:03:28 > 0:03:30but it could certainly be a lot worse.
