0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. We are looking at a windy and a rather cool start to our week.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09The question you probably want to know is, will this trend continue

0:00:09 > 0:00:11right through the next ten days towards the Bank Holiday weekend?

0:00:11 > 0:00:13More on that in just a moment.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16But let's take a look at the reason for this cool and windy start.

0:00:16 > 0:00:20It's due to this area of low pressure which is now migrating over to

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Scandinavia, still allowing for this Northerly flow

0:00:22 > 0:00:25and the strongest of the winds on Monday to the Northeast.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Here we could see potential gusts of 50 mph.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30Pretty rough seas here as well.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33It will be quite a cloudy start to the week.

0:00:33 > 0:00:37Eventually some brightness developing and a few sharp showers as well.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40But I suspect on Monday, West will be best in terms of the drier,

0:00:40 > 0:00:41brighter weather,

0:00:41 > 0:00:45and in little shelter with some sunshine it shouldn't feel too bad

0:00:45 > 0:00:48across the Southwest, for Wales, and the Northwest of England.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51We still can't rule out the risk of a few sharp

0:00:51 > 0:00:54showers across the South Midlands, into the Southeast corner

0:00:54 > 0:00:57and perhaps towards the east of the Pennines due to that

0:00:57 > 0:00:58Northeasterly breeze.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01A cool feel to the afternoon across Northern Ireland

0:01:01 > 0:01:03and on exposed coasts of Scotland.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Fewer showers than we've seen on Sunday,

0:01:05 > 0:01:09but nevertheless still the risk of some showers driving in along

0:01:09 > 0:01:10the North.

0:01:10 > 0:01:11So that's the story on Monday.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14We keep the risk of some showers for a time, Monday evening,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17running down through North Sea coasts, but then through

0:01:17 > 0:01:21the night we'll have lighter winds and temperatures falling away.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Lows down to around 8 to 11 degrees.

0:01:24 > 0:01:28We start off then on Tuesday on a relatively quiet note,

0:01:28 > 0:01:31but we run the risk of a few more sharp showers developing

0:01:31 > 0:01:34because of this little trough line here, enhancing the showers out

0:01:34 > 0:01:38of Northern Ireland into Northwest England and Wales for a time

0:01:38 > 0:01:39during the day.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42So I suspect on Tuesday we could see more organised

0:01:42 > 0:01:45showers across the Northwest and Wales for a time.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49We also keep some sharp showers across Northern parts of Scotland.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52The winds gusting to gale force first thing across the Northern Isles,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54but eventually the wind starting to ease,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57falling lighter right across the country.

0:01:57 > 0:01:5813 to 19 degrees,

0:01:58 > 0:02:02so temperatures disappointing for the middle of August.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06As we move out of Tuesday and into Wednesday you can see

0:02:06 > 0:02:10the isobars starting to open up - the winds falling lighter in nature.

0:02:10 > 0:02:14A relatively quiet theme to our day on Wednesday.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17There will be a few more showers running down

0:02:17 > 0:02:18through North Sea-facing coasts.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Top temperatures of 13 to 20 degrees.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23With those lighter winds, overnight Wednesday into Thursday

0:02:23 > 0:02:25could be a pretty cool night.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29Low single figures in rural spots to the North and West.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32And there is the question mark of some more enhanced rainfall

0:02:32 > 0:02:33up into the far Northwest.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Still a level of uncertainty about this one.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37We will need to keep a close eye on it,

0:02:37 > 0:02:39but the potential for some pretty wet weather.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41And look at the temperatures. 12 to 14 degrees.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43The best of the drier weather on Thursday looks likely to

0:02:43 > 0:02:45be across England and Wales.

0:02:45 > 0:02:46But that frontal system may well

0:02:46 > 0:02:48just drift a little further South,

0:02:48 > 0:02:52through Thursday night into Friday and so enhancing the showers or

0:02:52 > 0:02:56longer spells of rain across England and Wales for a time.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58We keep the showers

0:02:58 > 0:03:01and the cooler theme continuing to the far North of Scotland.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03Into Bank Holiday weekend.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06We start to see this high pressure building and influencing our

0:03:06 > 0:03:09weather a little and the westerly winds becoming more of a feature.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12That means that temperatures may well return to where

0:03:12 > 0:03:14they should be for this time of year.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16It also means, for the start of the weekend,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18it looks likely to be mostly dry,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20maybe the best of the Bank Holiday weekend,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23because eventually we could see that Westerly wind just

0:03:23 > 0:03:26driving in, and more fronts from the Atlantic, but temperatures

0:03:26 > 0:03:29will return back to the average, so feeling just that little bit better.

0:03:29 > 0:03:30Take care.
