0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. It looks like we'll see some changes to our weather patterns

0:00:05 > 0:00:08over the weekend into the early part of next week.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10More of that in a moment because for the next few days,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12the weather's going to be pretty similar.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14We've got this pattern set up at the moment,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16a large area of low pressure to the East,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19a big area of high pressure to the West, we're between the two.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22Follow the isobars, they head all the way up to the Arctic,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24and that is where our air is coming from.

0:00:24 > 0:00:28With these northerly winds, it's always going to remain pretty chilly.

0:00:28 > 0:00:29A fair few showers around.

0:00:29 > 0:00:33Could be a wet start across Northwest England, North Wales, the Midlands.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36That zone of showers becomes more scattered for the afternoon.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38We're just left with a sprinkling of showers,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40and for many it will be a dry and a bright afternoon,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43but with those northerly winds, it's not going to be warm.

0:00:43 > 0:00:4515 or 16 Celsius for most towns and cities,

0:00:45 > 0:00:48quite a few degrees below the average.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Tomorrow night's going to be cold as well.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53The showers will steadily fade through the evening

0:00:53 > 0:00:57and the winds will die down, and with long clear spells,

0:00:57 > 0:01:01temperatures will be plummeting widely, even in urban areas

0:01:01 > 0:01:05down to single digits, and in rural areas up and down the UK,

0:01:05 > 0:01:08we'll be at 3 to 5 Celsius as we start Wednesday.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11Wednesday's pressure pattern still shows high pressure

0:01:11 > 0:01:13out to the West, low pressure over Scandinavia,

0:01:13 > 0:01:17so we've still got the northerly flow but there's not as many isobars

0:01:17 > 0:01:21on the chart on Wednesday, so the winds won't be as strong.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Cold, but a potentially sunny start,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25a scattering of showers again developing,

0:01:25 > 0:01:26but for many it will stay dry.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30Maybe some more persistent rain to the Northwest later on.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33With lighter winds, it might feel a touch warmer on Wednesday,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35but those temperatures still below average,

0:01:35 > 0:01:38still most places struggling to get into the mid-teens.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41For Wednesday night and Thursday, an area of low pressure develops

0:01:41 > 0:01:45and pushes southwards, again coming down from the North.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48Where this weather front lies, that will enhance the showers.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52It looks like Northern areas see the wettest conditions on Thursday.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55Further South, many places dry and bright, just a scattering of showers,

0:01:55 > 0:01:59but again only 13 to 14 Celsius.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Friday, that weather system is further South

0:02:01 > 0:02:03so that's where the emphasis will be,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05something a bit drier further north.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07But it's still on the cool side.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10Into the weekend, Bank Holiday for some.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13High-pressure is moving in towards the UK.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16That low-pressure disappearing across Scandinavia, so actually,

0:02:16 > 0:02:19certainly the first day of the weekend looks quite promising.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Dry and bright, yes, a cold start, one or two scattered showers,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25chiefly in the East, but many places having sunny spells,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28and with light winds, temperatures a little bit higher.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31So for the rest of this week, the weather patterns are pretty static

0:02:31 > 0:02:33because the jet stream is fairly feeble

0:02:33 > 0:02:36and it's well to the South of the UK, allowing the colder air,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38so it stays chilly for the rest of the week

0:02:38 > 0:02:40with that mixture of sunshine and showers.

0:02:40 > 0:02:44The change comes at the weekend into the early part of next week,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47when the jet stream becomes a bit faster

0:02:47 > 0:02:50and it looks like it will be moving more directly from West to East.

0:02:50 > 0:02:51It may not be in this exact position

0:02:51 > 0:02:54but somewhere across the UK it will be driving its way in.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58When this happens, you tend to get more active areas

0:02:58 > 0:03:00of low pressure close by to the UK,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03or just to the North, and it certainly means the winds

0:03:03 > 0:03:07will be more coming in from the West rather than the North.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09It perhaps won't be as cold,

0:03:09 > 0:03:14but with low-pressure nearby, that's never going to be settled.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17These low-pressure systems coming in will continue to bring

0:03:17 > 0:03:19showers on Sunday and Monday.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23Showers mostly focused on the West with drier conditions in the East,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25and it will often be breezy, but as I said,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29it won't be quite as cold, certainly not at night. Goodbye.
