0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. We're going to see some changes with our weather patterns

0:00:06 > 0:00:09in the longer term, which means particularly as we go

0:00:09 > 0:00:12into the early part of next week, it won't be as cold at night.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15At the moment, it is unusually cold out there.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17That's because we've got this weather set-up.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19Big area of high pressure to the West,

0:00:19 > 0:00:22large area of low pressure across Scandinavia.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25Around that low, the winds are coming down from the North.

0:00:25 > 0:00:26First thing in the morning,

0:00:26 > 0:00:27we'll be widely, in rural areas,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29down to just four or five degrees.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31But there is a bit of strength still in the sunshine

0:00:31 > 0:00:33and most of us will start Wednesday

0:00:33 > 0:00:34with some blue sky.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37It'll be another day of sunny spells and scattered showers.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40At first, the showers across Wales and Southwest England

0:00:40 > 0:00:42becoming more widespread through the afternoon,

0:00:42 > 0:00:43but they will be scattered

0:00:43 > 0:00:45and many places will avoid them.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47In the sunny spells, temperatures struggling.

0:00:47 > 0:00:4915 to 16 degrees, maybe 19 or 20

0:00:49 > 0:00:51in the Southeast.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Tomorrow evening, showers fade in the South.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55More persistent rain is set to arrive

0:00:55 > 0:00:56across Western parts of Scotland

0:00:56 > 0:00:58and that will continue to trickle South

0:00:58 > 0:01:00across much of Southern Scotland

0:01:00 > 0:01:02and parts of Northern Ireland by dawn.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04With more cloud here, it won't be as cold.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Further South, again, towns and cities

0:01:06 > 0:01:08may stay in double figures,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10but in rural areas across Southern and Eastern England,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12we could again be as low as just

0:01:12 > 0:01:13four or five degrees.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16High pressure tries to hold on in the South on Thursday

0:01:16 > 0:01:18but this little weather front

0:01:18 > 0:01:20continues to push Southwards,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22bringing outbreaks of showery rain

0:01:22 > 0:01:23across Southern Scotland

0:01:23 > 0:01:25and slowly into Northern England.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Looks like the winds have changed direction,

0:01:27 > 0:01:28coming from the West on Thursday,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30but you can follow them round.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Where they originally come from is still the North,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34so it's still going to feel fresh.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Again, temperatures below average

0:01:36 > 0:01:37at just 14 or 15 degrees.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Some sunny spells in the Southeast

0:01:39 > 0:01:41may see highs of 18 or 19.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44That little weather feature tries to pull away on Friday.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46A cold front dragging its heels at first

0:01:46 > 0:01:48across the Southeast

0:01:48 > 0:01:50could provide some outbreaks of rain.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51For most,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53another day of sunny spells and showers.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56But again, the winds are coming down from the North and so those

0:01:56 > 0:01:58temperatures again are going to be below average -

0:01:58 > 0:02:0015 or 16 degrees.

0:02:00 > 0:02:01Cold start to the weekend.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Still a few showers across parts of the East.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05But actually, for most,

0:02:05 > 0:02:09Saturday looks dry and bright with lighter winds.

0:02:09 > 0:02:10Once we get a bit of sunshine,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12those temperatures will start to climb.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14The start of the weekend looks pretty good.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16High pressure moving in across the UK.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18There is this low trying to push in,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20but it looks like it is going to take

0:02:20 > 0:02:23quite a while before that comes in across Western areas during Sunday.

0:02:23 > 0:02:24And for the majority,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26Sunday will feel a little bit warmer

0:02:26 > 0:02:29and it is dry and bright again.

0:02:29 > 0:02:30So we are going to see subtle changes.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32At the moment, in the next few days,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34the jet stream's fairly weak.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37It's that fast-moving air high up in the atmosphere.

0:02:37 > 0:02:38It's to the South of the UK,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40allowing the chilly air across the country

0:02:40 > 0:02:43and that mixture of sunshine and showers.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46As we go towards the weekend, the early part of next week,

0:02:46 > 0:02:49the jet stream looks like picking up in force, becoming more zonal,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51more in from the West.

0:02:51 > 0:02:52And when this happens,

0:02:52 > 0:02:56it tends to drag in areas of low pressure from the Atlantic.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Might not be in exactly this position,

0:02:58 > 0:02:59but with it coming in from the West,

0:02:59 > 0:03:00it is more likely to bring

0:03:00 > 0:03:02low pressure systems

0:03:02 > 0:03:04across or to the North of the UK.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06So the winds will switch from a Northerly

0:03:06 > 0:03:07to a more Westerly direction.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10If this high pressure is a little bit further North, though,

0:03:10 > 0:03:11we could actually see some

0:03:11 > 0:03:12slightly warmer conditions,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14particularly across the Southeast.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17But with low pressure nearby, that means we will often see

0:03:17 > 0:03:19showers across the country for the early part of next week.

0:03:19 > 0:03:24Often quite windy, but it won't be as cold as it is right now,

0:03:24 > 0:03:28certainly not through the course of the night. That's all from me.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Always plenty more available online.
