0:00:03 > 0:00:06Good evening. Welcome to our extended look at the weather,
0:00:06 > 0:00:09with a look at the detail of the forecast for the next five days
0:00:09 > 0:00:12and the trends for the five days beyond that.
0:00:12 > 0:00:15We start with our extended weekend for much of the British Isles -
0:00:15 > 0:00:17the bank holiday on Monday.
0:00:17 > 0:00:20Saturday - a dry and bright day.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22An area of high pressure
0:00:22 > 0:00:25attempting to calm things quite nicely
0:00:25 > 0:00:27in terms of easing off the breeze.
0:00:27 > 0:00:30In the East, still the remnants of low pressure,
0:00:30 > 0:00:34there will be a risk of heavier showers
0:00:34 > 0:00:37across Eastern Scotland, the Northeast of England,
0:00:37 > 0:00:39the Midlands and East Anglia,
0:00:39 > 0:00:41Western areas getting the lion's share
0:00:41 > 0:00:43of Saturday afternoon sunshine.
0:00:43 > 0:00:45More cloud in the East,
0:00:45 > 0:00:48with the chance of showers turning heavy and thundery.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50Lighter breeze than recent days.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52It should feel a touch warmer.
0:00:52 > 0:00:56Saturday evening - still heavy showers in the East,
0:00:56 > 0:00:58many dying out in the early hours of Sunday.
0:00:58 > 0:01:00Notice the winds -
0:01:00 > 0:01:03barely an arrow across the British Isles.
0:01:03 > 0:01:06Clear skies and light winds
0:01:06 > 0:01:09add up to an unseasonably chilly night for August,
0:01:09 > 0:01:11temperatures down the lower end of single figures
0:01:11 > 0:01:14and a patchy frost for a few isolated areas.
0:01:14 > 0:01:17Sunday will get off to a chilly start
0:01:17 > 0:01:19underneath this high pressure,
0:01:19 > 0:01:23but there's a lot of fine and sunny weather to come.
0:01:23 > 0:01:26Bear in mind this area of low pressure
0:01:26 > 0:01:28trying to fringe its way in from the West.
0:01:28 > 0:01:32If we do see more cloud in the West for the afternoon,
0:01:32 > 0:01:35that could peg our temperatures back somewhat.
0:01:35 > 0:01:37Sunday - a switch from Saturday,
0:01:37 > 0:01:40best of the sunshine across Eastern areas,
0:01:40 > 0:01:43temperatures in the mid to high teens.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45Later in the day,
0:01:45 > 0:01:48expect that thicker cloud to bring rain into Northern Ireland,
0:01:48 > 0:01:51Wales and the Southwest of England.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54This area of low pressure will try and push its way
0:01:54 > 0:01:58across the British Isles during bank holiday Monday.
0:01:58 > 0:02:01Still some uncertainty as to how those bands of rain
0:02:01 > 0:02:03will position on Monday.
0:02:03 > 0:02:06Scotland looks driest and brightest throughout.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09Elsewhere, there's a chance of rain just about anywhere
0:02:09 > 0:02:12but perhaps central areas will be drier.
0:02:12 > 0:02:14Please stay tuned closer to the time
0:02:14 > 0:02:17to get the best of the details for the bank holiday.
0:02:17 > 0:02:22What we are more certain of is that that low will move through overnight
0:02:22 > 0:02:25quite quickly. There could be some rain
0:02:25 > 0:02:28across Southern England and Wales first thing on Tuesday,
0:02:28 > 0:02:31but Tuesday looking like a fine day once again,
0:02:31 > 0:02:33probably offering up a fair amount of sunshine,
0:02:33 > 0:02:36perhaps a little bit of showery rain to the South later in the day
0:02:36 > 0:02:39before that low sinks away towards the Continent.
0:02:39 > 0:02:42High pressure looks like it will feature for the middle of the week,
0:02:42 > 0:02:46so a lot of fine weather, potentially, on Wednesday,
0:02:46 > 0:02:48perhaps a little more cloud towards the South.
0:02:48 > 0:02:51Temperatures recovering a little,
0:02:51 > 0:02:54closer to average for the time of year.
0:02:54 > 0:02:56But cast your eye towards the West
0:02:56 > 0:03:00and you can see another weather system waiting to move its way in.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03That's our type in terms of our weather
0:03:03 > 0:03:05for the following five days -
0:03:05 > 0:03:08a Westerly feed of systems coming in from the Atlantic.
0:03:08 > 0:03:12They'll come in spurts so there could be some spells that are wet
0:03:12 > 0:03:15but in between times, there could also be some drier days.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19At the moment, there's rain in the forecast.
0:03:19 > 0:03:22Southern areas looking like coming out as driest,
0:03:22 > 0:03:25and with air off the Atlantic, it should be milder than it has been
0:03:25 > 0:03:30in recent days, noticeable by day but particularly overnight.
