0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello, it's fair to say the last week hasn't felt much like summer.

0:00:06 > 0:00:10We're seeing some unusually low temperatures for the time of year

0:00:10 > 0:00:11nationwide right now.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Recently, we've had the jet stream in this position,

0:00:15 > 0:00:18away to the south and weaker as well, it has dragged down colder air.

0:00:18 > 0:00:22The week ahead sees a stronger, more westerly jet and that will bring

0:00:22 > 0:00:26with it some slightly milder air, but also more unsettled conditions.

0:00:26 > 0:00:31We're starting to drag in these areas of low pressure from the Atlantic.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Ahead of it, with the cold air still over us,

0:00:33 > 0:00:37we have some very low temperatures to start the day on Sunday.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40But at least we will have the sunshine as compensation.

0:00:40 > 0:00:44Cloud amounts will increase a little, but eastern areas having a fine day.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Thickening cloud though coming in to the west,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49Northern Ireland, Wales, and the South West,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51maybe a little bit of rain here and there during the afternoon.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53But in the sunshine to the East, it will feel quite pleasant,

0:00:53 > 0:00:56with light winds, 20 degrees possible in London. A bit of a struggle

0:00:56 > 0:00:58underneath that cloud after that chilly start further west.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01The cloud will continue to thicken across Northern Ireland

0:01:01 > 0:01:03and bring some rain in here

0:01:03 > 0:01:06and push patchy rain eastwards across England and Wales.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10Some drier conditions in the North of England, so chilly here.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13It is really across Scotland where we will have those clearer skies

0:01:13 > 0:01:16that we may well find again a touch of frost in the glens.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Much warmer further south because of the cloud and rain.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22The first weather front, not particularly active.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24The second one has a bit more about it.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26It is driven by that deeper area of low pressure.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28We will see some wetter, windy weather.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31More towards the southern parts of England and Wales.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35Some heavy rain at times. Further north, the rain will not be as heavy.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Not much rain at all for the far north of England

0:01:37 > 0:01:40or for Northern Ireland and, across Scotland, after a chilly start,

0:01:40 > 0:01:44we may well find some sunshine and a dry day.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47In the South, temperatures approaching 20,

0:01:47 > 0:01:51but it will not feel too pleasant underneath that rain.

0:01:51 > 0:01:52That area of low pressure

0:01:52 > 0:01:56slides its way across more southern areas of the UK overnight

0:01:56 > 0:01:59and we get high pressure starting to build from the North,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01it's a cold high coming from that direction,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03but at least it will tend to push the rain away.

0:02:03 > 0:02:04It will take a while

0:02:04 > 0:02:07for it to brighten up across more southern parts of England,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09it will be cloudy for most of the day. Anywhere from the Midlands,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Wales, northwards should enjoy quite a bit of sunshine.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16Then quite chilly again before we see this next area of low pressure

0:02:16 > 0:02:20winding itself up from the South West.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23To Wednesday then, and with the high pressure around,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26most places will be dry with some sunshine. Quite a cold start.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Then that area of low pressure starts to bring cloud

0:02:29 > 0:02:33across more western areas of England, Wales and Northern Ireland,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35bringing with it a little rain.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38That rain becomes heavier overnight and as we head into Thursday,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41a complicated tangle of weather fronts

0:02:41 > 0:02:44will push their way from west to east across the UK.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48We start off quite wet in many areas on Thursday, but it will soon

0:02:48 > 0:02:50brighten up across Northern Ireland as the rain pushes its way eastwards.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53We should see late sunshine in Wales and the south-west of England.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57But for a while, that rain could be quite heavy

0:02:57 > 0:02:59as it moves across the country.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Looking further ahead, 6-10 day period.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04This is the broad weather pattern we are looking at.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07Higher pressure to the south, lower pressure to the North

0:03:07 > 0:03:09and this more westerly airflow.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Things could get more complicated into the early part of September

0:03:12 > 0:03:15if we drag in some tropical air.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18But it does look like we will see some rain at times, not every day,

0:03:18 > 0:03:21probably likely to get the driest conditions

0:03:21 > 0:03:23across more southern parts of the UK,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25but because everything is starting to come in off the Atlantic,

0:03:25 > 0:03:28it will not be as cold by day and by night.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30All the details are online.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34The stars of the summer are back on UK soil

0:03:34 > 0:03:36for the Grand Prix.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46Who will produce their golden moment?
